  1. I don't know about your first one...when they showed the "end zone" camera angle, it looked like Novotny was about to catch up with the goal scorer but gave up a few steps away. And you can also clearly see Spacek point out the pass as what he needed Novotny to cover.
  2. Glad I wasn't the only one thinking this. I was coming on here to post just that fact but forgot I am on about 8 minutes DVR delay as I paused it earlier. I was thinking this looked just like an old NHL game. Until the last few minutes of the second period, the total penalties in this game bore that fact out.
  3. Is it me, or did Lehtonen get away with knocking his own net off when Buffalo was buzzing all around and he was on his back? He got up, pushed it off and waved for the referee to note it was off to blow the play dead.
  4. I agree with that statement and also go on record as saying we will average a maximum of 3 loss per month of the season (18 losses max). Tonight, I am feeling good: Sabres - 5 Pylonders - 2 Drury, Briere and Vanek keep up thier point streaks. Max gets 5 points tonight. Sabres give up no pp goals tonight and get 1 themselves.
  5. Anyoe else find it amusing when, during the first Montreal power play, the Vs. announcers mentioned a "diving Roy" and it had nothing to do with a penalty? Also, is it me or is the video on this game looking very dark?
  6. Sabres:6 Bruises:3 Marty gets the nod. 3 PP goals for Buffalo tonight. Vanek continues point streak. Drury with GWG. Peters gets into a fight in the first.
  7. You misunderstand me. By lucky win I meant with all the bad breaks, bounces and calls going against us, we were lucky to win. I accept responsibility for the confusion as the way I worded it it looked like I meant we had no business winning. We were sloppy tonight, however. The passes were not crisp or, often, on target. The outlet pass was near non-existant tonight. The third Canes goal that was deflected off Miller was made from behind the goal line by an completely unmolested Hurricane while Lydman and Tallinder were standing in front of the net. They just stood there about 2 feet in front of Miller and from each other. Blown coverage there. We had two 5-on-3 situations each over a minute in length and failed to capitalize and gave up a short handed goal on one. If this is the Sabres' "A-Game" the laws of probability dictate we will have some tough times coming. That said, I do not believe this was our "A-Game" and have full confidence the Sabres will have a phenominal year. As I pointed out earlier, Roy's "dive" was a horrible call. You don't get your legs chopped out from under you by two opposing players and "dive." Sadly, the league is "cracking down" on diving with fines to repeat offenders and those with a reputation for diving. I say sadly because there is only one way to get a reputation for the purely subjective call of diving: getting a call on it, legitimate or not. Roy now has a reputation for diving (regardless of calls made last year) simply because an official felt that he committed that foul.
  8. Last year, Peters dressed for less than 30 games. He is the local enforcer. Last year, Mair missed alot of games due to injury. So far this year, the fourth line sees limited second period and almost no third period action. However, in the 9-1 victory over Philly, Peters alone logged 10+ mins in the third. :)
  9. You have GOT to be kidding me... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Maybe we can get Rowdy Roddy to do Buffalo's. Nah, that would be tacky, corny and cheesy to have a "pro" wrestler do your goal announcements. In most civilized hockey towns this would actually keep fans away from the arena on game night.
  10. Yeah, he usually does, but Ruff also usually plays Marty in back to backs. Will the towel-holding for Miller make it worse or better for his next start?
  11. My bad...I was already thinking ahead to Monday.
  12. I'll take the lucky win, but they looked very very sloppy tonight: sloppy passing, failing to convert on two long 5 on 3 power plays and giving up a shorthanded up 5 on 3. I hope they look better tomorrow against Montreal. Back to back is hard enough without looking pretty bad in the first of the two.
  13. Loods and Tally looked like pylons (Or Philly D-men) on that third Canes goal. Btw, correct me if I am wrong: in the ECF, Stall steps on the puck, falls and the nearest Sabre (McKee) gets a penalty. Shouldn't Stall have gotten a penalty rather than credited with Tallinder's goal on the second Canes goal?
  14. As Admiral Yamamoto said, "I fear we have awaken the slumbering giant."
  15. C'mon, Crest...getting your legs chopped out by two guys?? Of course it was a dive. He has a reputation for it you know. And this "dive" call will only make it worse.
  16. Sabres: 5 Hurricanes: 3 1 shorthanded for the Sabres.
  17. Buffalo: 3 Detroit: 1 Powerplay gets 2 goals.
  18. My predicts (despite how porrly I did last night): Sabres: 6 Senators: 5 GWG: Spacek
  19. I agree with the above, but add the following: Power Play: Needs serious focus work. I realize it is only game two, but 0-9 in game one and a full 4 minutes of double minor power play, almost two full minutes of it 5 on 3 without a point in game two is not acceptable.
  20. My predicts: Sabres: 4 Habs: 2 Biron gets the start and Miller is back on Saturday in Ottawa. Spacek scores his first as a Sabre. Roy gets GWG.
