  1. I almost think a regulation loss would have been better for this team. Now, they will try and build on the positive of tying it up late. Well, I may be a little late to the party but something is VERY wrong with this team. If Miller does not step his game up, this is going to get really ugly.....

Granted, I don't think Miller is playing extremely well, but our defense is absolutely putrid.

With Miller in net, scoring 3 goals should be enough to win most games.

  2. You'd be wrong.

Is anyone for the sabres going to step up and provide a timely goal? I can't remember the last one.

It's been a long time. It seems lately, once it gets past the 5 minute mark left in the game, It becomes less and less likely that we will even get close to tying it up.

  3. Wow, I read this and thought it was in reference to Pebble's referee debut in Pennsyltuckey. That's cold. :)

That is pretty cold. Although, there is a good chance that it would be worth the trip to watch me trip over a bunch of 6 year olds.

  4. Prepare to be heckled. And heaven help you if you fall. Just do your little spin stop thing. People will look at you funny, but there is nothing worse (or better, from the fan's perspective) than the ref falling down.

Heh, yeah, that is what I am figuring. I can actually stop pretty well with my right foot first, but it's pretty ugly trying to stop in the other direction.

  5. This is more of a frustration than a complaint, but here it goes...

So, next week, I referee my first ever ice hockey game. It is my first year of officiating with USA Hockey, so I am really friggin nervous. The rules and such aren't such a big problem, it's the skating. I pretty much have exclusively played organized roller hockey for about 10 years, with very limited Ice Hockey (It's not really big around here, as far as adult leagues and pickup games go.)

I can skate pretty well, but I am still learning the stopping thing. I'm fairly positive that most of the Mites that I ref next week will be better at stopping than I am.

  6. About 3 months ago, I had tentatively scheduled a Buffalo Sports Weekend for this weekend. Had it planned out, was going with my sister, going to stay with some relatives, catch up with old friends, and see the Sabres and Bills...

...until the Wife reminded me shortly thereafter that I was in my friend's "wedding" on Sunday. Luckily, I hadn't bought tickets yet. I have been bitter about this "wedding" for a while, because they are already married. They got married on 10/10/09, and then planned a complete wedding ceremony for 10/10/10. Spent almost 10k on it. I mean, I am in no place to tell anyone what to do with their money, but it seems like a colossal waste when you have already been married for a year.

  7. My co-worker and I frequently eat cereal at work if we miss breakfast at home, so we started alternating buying milk. For 3 days, he has said that he would bring milk in, since it is his turn.

For 3 days, I haven't eaten breakfast at home for this very reason.

For 3 days, I have now starved until lunch...

  8. I am taking the family to Florida next week for our first vacation as a family. Going to see her grandparents for a couple of days in Port Saint Lucie, catch a Mets spring training game, and then head up to Orlando to hit the Magic Kingdom for a day. The wife and I did the "Give a day, get a day" program from Disney, so we have a free day at the park with our 2 year old son.

It's supposed to rain in Orlando every day next week.

  9. It really seems like UPS can't be bothered with things like this. I had a hockey jersey delievered one time with a similar outcome. They don't bother looking into in, instead forcing the seller to deal with it. In my case, it turned out that they did deliver it, but for some reason let some random person sign for it. The name looked nothing like mine and it wasn't someone who lived in my building. After a little while, I got my money back, but it was a hassle. I just hope it wasn't the company that wound up on the hook for the money since it was an obvious UPS screwup. Then again, I'm sure they have crazy amounts of insurance against situations like this.

    agreed.

Good thing is, the wife just sent me a message and said it arrived at the house today, via the regular mail.

  10. I ordered a shirt from the MLB shop. It get sent out promptly via UPS basic. On the 16th, it shows "Out for delivery" to my house. It still hasn't arrived. I call UPS, they tell me that there is no way to find out where the package actually is, and that I have to call MLB Shop for them to open a claim.

I call MLB shop, they won't open a claim for 14 days. Come to find out from them, UPS basic is actually a service in which UPS delivers my package to the post office, who then has to deliver it to me, which is why UPS is basically no help.

I don't get it. I work for a trucking company, and deal with drivers day in, day out. We have GPS and tracking on every truck. Yet UPS claims there is absolutely no way to get in touch with the local facility or the route driver to find out where the package is.

  11. Plus/MINUS!!!!!

Added complaint feature: dispatchers at my trucking company don't seem to pay attention to "Time at Home" requests. In a perfect world, it should be ex-truckers who should be dispatchers because they actually know what makes us tick.

It has nothing to do with knowing what makes you tick, it is about listening and doing your job. I'm a dispatcher and I never miss home times unless freight conditions completely prevent you from getting home. And then I talk to you about it before you miss time off.
