Luke Adam reminds me a bit of Alexandre Giroux. Very good AHL player, but not quite good enough to make that transition to a full time NHL player.

Daycare. My son is running around outside for an hour in 100 degree heat, comes in from lunch and eats too fast. He chokes, and spits up his food. (he's 5). I get the call at work that he threw up and I have to come and pick both my kids up from daycare.
I understand rules are rules, but for crying out loud. When I got there, he was crying because he didn't want to leave, and that he felt fine.

Just finished "Wherever I wind up" by R.A. Dickey while I was on vacation this week...pretty amazing story.

I have to say I cheered when Dale died. Right after Carl he was the most annoying character. Dale wasn't as annoying in the books. In the books Dale died after humans ate his leg.
I have developed a Walking Dead hit list of characters I would like to see killed in the coming weeks.
Carl
Lori
Carol
T-Dog
Right at the beginning of the last episode, I actually said to my wife, "God, why can't somebody kill Dale already?" That is one character that I am glad to be rid of.
Your list sums up my feelings exactly.

Hockey coaches that are OUT OF CONTROL on the bench, that teach their players that predatory hits are OK, and get more OUT OF CONTROL when I call them penalties. What a joke. That team is now blocked in my schedule so I don't have to see it anymore. Football on skates. I like good hitting, but it's gotta be clean and on time. Taking 3 strides to slam a player into the boards, in the head (usually), 3 seconds after he has passed the puck, is stupid, bad, dirty hockey. Some people just don't get it.

I had a couple of those last weekend...
In a very close league game (Pee Wee) I called two checking from behind penalties within 12 minutes of each other....basically, the kid barely got out of the box from the first one and someone else committed a 2nd one. They weren't even borderline ones either, where you might have been able to get away with body checking, interference or even boarding. These were full on checks to the back on defenseless kids 2 feet from the boards...the latter of the calls was a 5 and a game because the other kid went head first into the boards and got injured.
All this coming from a team who 5 minutes into the same game, the coach was on me because two kids collided in the middle of the ice by obvious lack of skating ability and gave me the ol' "Hey Ref, you know there is no checking in Pee Wee, right?"
After all that, they still only lost by one goal...just stupid. A good coach takes the kid aside, tells him what he did wrong (as if he didn't already know) and makes sure it doesn't happen again...instead, this guy and his two other coaches (who were way more clueless than most) did everything they could to yell and scream about how bad the calls were.
Settle the team down, and get them back to playing hockey the right way...leave the crap out of it.

Sign him up for hockey if your league allows them to at at age (both my kids were playing at 3), and sign him up for skating lessons. The skating lessons are mostly figure skaters, but those girls know how to get kids up and moving. My boys (a pee wee and a squirt both playing on Tier II tournament bound teams) still take lessons - I figure if NHL skaters continue to take skating lessons, my kids should too.
Yeah, our leagues down here I am pretty sure they have to be 4, so he will be able to play next year. We don't have as much interest in hockey in this area, so it's tough to get enough players together to do anything at all. I do want to get him skating lessons though. When he was two, Target was selling off their entire stock of hockey skates, and they had the kids ones for 8 bucks a pair. We bought 8 sizes, I think, just in case.
He really likes going, which is half the battle. He also runs around the lobby with the skates on just like they were shoes...but when he hits that ice, his legs turn to jello, and he won't put any weight on them. It's just going to take some time, I think. But I would love to have a skating buddy.

Been a great week thus far...
I won a raffle with the pro shop at my local rink and won an Easton E700 helmet. Got it in Matte Black, looks very sleek.
Taking my 3 year old ice skating for the third time tonight. Hoping he will skate with the little chair assist thing by himself. Last time we went, he was not interested in putting any weight on his feet at all.

Does make you wonder how they got zombies in the barn without others getting out..
I would imagine the same way Glenn got in there, and then they either dropped the zombie into the lower part with the rest, or found some way of getting them down there.

Not sure why I am at work today...other than about 6 states, every other one has restricted travel for oversized loads, and the majority of the drivers at our company are home for the holiday. Luckily, the internet still works.
Taking the kid to Hersheypark tonight to see all the Christmas lights and all that jazz. Should be fun-tastic.

Looks like snowmobiler got banned or grounded. Either way, F'n Fantastic!
This is indeed fantastic.
Slow, easy day at work because of the holiday, and I have a jam-packed weekend of hockey to referee. Looking forward to it.

Anyone see that Merl is coming back in the scenes from next week?! I will agree that this weeks episode was a little on the boring side. I still absolutely love the series though!
I am glad I am not the only one who thought I saw that...hopefully it starts to pick up a bit next week. They need to find this girl, dead or alive, and move on with another story.

Agreed.
In other news, I have been really enjoying zombie shows lately. I caught a few minutes of a show on MTV I had never heard of before called "Death Valley". It looked like Reno 911 with zombies. Completely ridiculous but if you're watching a Reno 911 type show that's what you're after. I saw online the show also has other versions of undead creatures (vampires etc) that the local police are battling. The few minutes I saw had zombies captured and chained inside a cage. They were unchaining the zombies 2 at a time to fight and people were betting on them.
Yeah, it is actually a pretty comical show. General concept is that vampires, wearwolves and zombies took over the valley...We DVR it and watch it when there is nothing else on.
Good twist in that show with the zombies...when they are new zombies, they have the ultra fast, Dawn of the Dead speed. The longer they are zombies, the slower they get, until they are basically walkers.

Got to see my son trick or treat and have a blast last night...
My new hockey bag should be coming in the mail today
Halloween party tomorrow...
Calling for 4-10 inches of snow.
F'n Fantastic!

Game day...My Dad just got a Pool Table and Ping Pong table to finish out his recently renovated basement. He's in New Orleans this weekend, so my Brother-in-law and I are going over there and raiding his beer, playing some pool and watching hockey.
Gonna be a fantastic day.

Yes, it is.
Who here has been on I-95 in Georgia? I hadn't been on there in a while and it was still relatively early in the morning. I get on there, drive from the Florida state line all the way up to Savannah, and I rolled the windows down on my big rig. It was so pleasant to get a whiff of that ocean air and drive through all that open road. Yes, the Georgia Low Country is something to write home about.
If you don't mind me asking, who do you drive for?

Rockin' my LaFontaine jersey at work today with the pre-game show/game on TuneIn Radio in front of me, and taping the game at home.
My Flyer Fan office mate is off today, so less yapping makes for a happy afternoon.

We got a cat this week...she's an older girl, a long-haired tortoise shell colored cat. We got an older one because my 3 year old son doesn't do really well with very fast moving animals, but he loves this girl.
We decided to re-name her, and told him that he could pick any name he wanted to name her. His choice:
Stevie Johnson.
F'n Fantastic.

It may be a mess down here, but thankfully my house is nowhere near the water and the creek did not come up high enough to flood my boyfriend's house (although it was a lot closer than anyone expected). And it's nice to finally see the sun again after a weeklong hiatus!
Yep, it's a f'n mess here...but I'm in the same boat...no water near my house, so we are dry. I can't say the same thing for the areas about 10 mins on either side of me. Harrisburg/Lewisberry/Marysville/Hershey all got bombed.

Awesome win. I hope they can keep it up and end that Pittsburgh win streak on Saturday. I will be back in Buffalo, can't wait!
-
Good weekend of hockey. One more week, and I will be back in Buffalo for the Pens game!
-
Good man.
Do they still let you compete for the Stanley Cup when you've been eliminated from the playoffs? ;)
-
Yep. This was some horrible officiating in the last minute or so.
-
Sounds like they are getting some chances...just can't cash in.

Listen to WGR550.com. It's just as good and you can actually do other stuff while the game is on. I'm a prisoner to my TV while it's on.
Yeah, that is what I have been doing. It's holding me over, but just not the same.

Would anyone that is going to the game tonight be willing to grab me an extra Hasek banner that they give out? I'd be willing to paypal the shipping cost.
