  1. This is me signing off. I don't feel like I can be part of this group anymore.

When the owner of the site calls your posts garbage, doesn't stick up for you in accordance to the site rules on attacking ideas not posters, then starts revealing what you wrote to him in a private message out in the comments in order to get his toadies to laugh at the OP,  it's time.

Well, all I can say is let idiots play with idiots.

I just read this story in The Hockey News where the (female) coach of the Women's Michigan Wolverines college hockey team was the only female player in a mens league aged 30s-40s in the Detroit area.

She was body checked during a game and a penalty was called on the offender, followed by taunts from opposing players about how she's a woman playing in a mens league and wasn't wanted.

She waited out in the lobby after the game, hoping for an apology, followed by the taunts again and then she started crying.

She concluded by saying "hockey is for everyone."

Now I've played with women before in my pickup roller games. (B+C level) Some of the goalies were good. One guy who was a mediocre player himself insisted on bringing his wife, who could hardly skate at all. She was a forward. The guys would lay off of her, like they would with the very young or inexperienced players who would be brought along, hoping to develop their ability with the speed of the game. But she never got better. She was in her 40s and slowed the game down every time. Last I heard, she slipped and fell in her kitchen on a concrete floor and broke her leg...

In my opinion, women skaters shouldn't be playing with men unless it's a very special situation like goaltending. Men are just so much stronger that the women might get badly hurt. Hockey is a contact sport, and even if the games are non-contact, accidents happen. For me, it takes some of the fun out of the games.

Call me misogynist, call me misandrist or call me un-PC. What say you?

  3. Dahlin has improved his shot since his rookie year. I think he was recorded at 102.5 mph at the ASG last year. In his first years with the Sabres, it was a muffin.    I can only hope Power's shot improves too.

That said, the Sabres need to get away from an overabundance of finesse players, especially on D.

He played in the Pro Bowl...Frankly I'm sick of his act. The only time he gets YAC is if a defender slips and falls. He has turned into Beasley...catch the ball for a first and fall down. He makes too many faces and makes too much noise for his limited production. I'm done with his cryptic messages too. Move on! https://www.nfl.com/news/bills-wr-stefon-diggs-unsure-of-future-in-buffalo-after-down-2023-season

Why? If it's an 8 week injury it's an 8 week injury.

Because the Sabres will be out of the playoffs by then. You don't want to risk him injuring himself seriously again with less than ten games left. A whole summer to rehab himself and you have a new, completely healed Quinn.

Agree 100%. A player like Alex Pietrangelo of the Golden Knights is a perfect example. Not that he's coming to Buffalo, lord help us, but this type of player for sure.

I'd like to know what percentage of NHL players have Buffalo on their no-trade list. It has to be high. I think the bottom line is the management merry-go-round. Since Pegreasy assumed ownership, Buffalo, formerly the "little town that could", has turned into a bastion of incompetence. Players don't like the instability and incompetence Terry surrounds himself with, not to mention that committing to Buffalo (except for those who have ties to the area) is a tough sell even in the best of times.

  7. Blowing the team up...we need a different owner to guide the restructuring. I don't trust Adams for a minute to make a good trade or conduct a draft for the type of players the Sabres need. Do NOT invest your hockey/football souls with Meddlin' Terry. He keeps hiring people who resemble himself .... DUDS...and he keeps swinging for the fences with for the same DUD PLAYERS.

Terry Pegula is a DUD and he's the driving force behind all of the Sabres* failures. *and Bills.

"developmental year" F##k me it's always a "developmental year".

The defense league wide this year I talked about early in the season. It's the cup winner effect. Whatever the cup winner did other teams try to copy or emulate. Happens every year. So this year there's more Cassidy style focus league wide. It's contagious.

Are the Sabres better at defense? Not really. We are still a fair weather hockey team and soft like butter.

This constant "we are young" argument is bs because it's a self fulfilling prophecy. If you don't bring in veterans who are needed and you keep trading away people for prospects and picks you are forever young and forever "developing".

Yes, it's a "development" year again. We are developing players for other rosters when they get traded away eventually.

You want real development? Take a close look at what Philly has done with a LOT LESS talent.

There's some truth in there but gee, you're bitter. Twelve (going on thirteen) years of this clown show getting to you? 🤡

  9. Sabres are on pace to give up 260 goals  this year. Last year, they gave up 300 goals. So GAA would decrease from 3.65 last year to 3.17 this year. They are on pace to score 238 goals after scoring 296 last year. So GF would decrease from 3.60 a game last year to 2.91 this year. Since four goals wins most games, we're a ways off.  It seems the Sabres have focused on teaching defense this year, so it's another developmental year for the NHL's youngest roster.

  10. I'm confused. Just now, I was watching tonight's Amerks hilights and Levi was in the net. I think I saw Comrie's nameplate on his back in a camera shot. So Levi started, Comrie on the bench. Was this a figment of my imagination? Who backed up Luukkonen against TB today? Or was this covered previously in this thread?

They traded Ballard before he even played a single game. That was a part of a three way deal that landed Drury. Was he really a bad draft pick?

You should become a professional Sabres historian/fact checker. I'm in awe.

They took Ballard with their own pick. The one from the Hasek trade wound up being traded to move up and take Dan Paille.

Two lousy draft choices. With few exceptions over their history, the Sabres have always been bad at drafting. Hard to say what they're worse at, trading or drafting.
