  1. I think a big reason Terry Pegula wants out of the Rochester arena business is because of what is going on in Buffalo. The new Buffalo Bills stadium is a fortune and Terry Pegula has to cover cost overruns or if he can’t get the money he thought out of PSL’s that is one reason. Second reason is Key Bank Center needs major upgrades and renovations. Erie County, New York State won’t contribute much after coming up with $850 million dollars for the Buffalo Bills stadium. So I think those projects are his focus which have a lot more upside than the minor league hockey arena business. It will affect the Rochester Knighthawks and Rochester Americans because Terry Pegula rent will go up once he turns over the control of the Rochester arena. I think the Rochester Americans and Rochester Knighthawks will be sold at some point to Rochester committed owner or owners interest. I just see what is going on in the NHL they development of players in the home city they play in. I could see at some of Buffalo will have their own AHL team that will have the Buffalo Sabres prospects in a new renovated Key Bank Center or a new Buffalo Sabres practice facility/Buffalo AHL team playing there. It won’t happen right away but 2030’s I could see it or that doesn’t happen at all and Sabres prospects stay in Rochester but Terry Pegula completely out of the minor league business of hockey. The Rochester Knighthawks are in limbo because they are losing money and Terry Pegula already owns the profitable Buffalo Bandits.

Rochester leadership in the business community needs to do what they do in Toledo with the Toledo Mud Hens IL and Toledo Walleyes ECHL they cross market year round fun. Let the Rochester Red Wings cross promote with the Rochester Americans. I never thought it was a good idea for the Buffalo Sabres to take over the old Rochester Arena. I am from Buffalo but I think Rochester screwed up renovating the old arena instead of doing what the Hershey Bears did and just build a new arena. I would have built a new Rochester Arena over the Rochester Soccer stadium. That is where Rochester leadership screwed up. Rochester today is done as a major soccer city after the announcement of Buffalo getting a USL championship division and USL Super league franchise in 2026. The USL wants Buffalo tells me two things one Buffalo the USL leadership see Buffalo as have more potential than Rochester. Along with I think Rochester leadership burned a lot of bridges with the USL leadership with went down with the Rochester leadership/Rochester Rhinos over flexing their muscles when reality they were saying goodbye to high level soccer forever in Rochester which was dumb mistake too. Once the Rochester Rhinos shutdown it was over. I don’t think the Sacramento Kings minority owners the Dworkman’s whatever there name was were ever interested in Rochester Rhinos soccer if they didn’t get a sweetheart lease deal with the Rochester Soccer Stadium. I think the Rochester Rhinos to them was some kind of tax write off. They were never interested and they changed the iconic Rochester Rhinos name they were pretenders all hat and no cattle. So the smarter play would have been building a new Rochester Americans arena that could host year round events compared to a Soccer Stadium. Plus with modular stadium’s now it gives Rochester less leverage plus they don’t control Buffalo outdoor soccer rights anymore which is why USL can go to Buffalo in 2026. I think it will all work out for Rochester Americans but Rochester needs better leadership then they have been getting the past 20 years in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

  2. Look Alex Tuch is a NHL superstar in some Buffalo Sabres fans minds only because he is from Syracuse and wore the Buffalo Sabres jersey as a kid growing up. Lots of hockey players wore the Buffalo Sabres jersey growing up when we use to have good superstar players. Some Buffalo Sabres fans don’t get it Alex Tuch is never going to be Patrick Kane that was the player to acquire someone that won Stanley Cups and has actual NHL superstar talent. But Patrick Kane as much as it hurts me as a Buffalo Sabres fan made the right choice not to come to Sabresland at this time. Alex Tuch is a third line player on a Stanley Cup team that is reality regardless of the crap the loser Sabres front office with their loser hockey department tries to sell gullible Sabres fans. Alex Tuch is what he is collecting a huge salary while some Sabres fans dream away how good Alex Tuch is going to be in a year or two. Alex Tuch is at his ceiling he is only going to get older, slower, fatter and lazier as his career in Buffalo goes on.

Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson are the main reasons the Sabres suck especially Tage Thompson. If Buffalo Sabres fans can’t see it. Here is some advice turn on Buffalo tv CW23 and watch the Buffalo Bandits. Notice how there NLL superstars are consistent. Josh Byrnes and Dhane Smith are consistent goal scorers for the Buffalo Bandits not just when they feel like playing. The rest of the Bandits know there roles and produce. Of course the Bandits coaching staff runs circles around the Sabres coaching staff when it comes to brains. Fire Don Granato and hire Lindy Ruff just to save some face and dignity.

The Buffalo Sabres embarrassed themselves against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Congratulations Terry Pegula you have reached the levels of late 1970’s Toronto Maple Leafs under crazy owner Harold Ballard and the sad thing is those Maple Leafs teams made the NHL playoffs. The Sabres are a complete joke now and it’s getting worse not better in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

  3. The first two players I want to see traded are Alex Tuch and Dylan Cozens just to wake some Buffalo Sabres fans up they aren’t that good. Two very overrated hockey players. Pick two defenseman to keep between Dahlin, Byram or Power. I would go with trading Owen Power. Even though I am tempted to trading Rasmus Dahlin he is well paid and his act is growing old another player that is overrated for his yearly pay scale level. I expect a lot more from that bum than the Sabres are getting. I keep UPL but on a short term contract not long term with two levels of pay structure depending if he can beat out Devon Levi in training camp or not if UPL can’t he gets a lower NHL salary. So if UPL wins the Sabres job in training camp he gets what he asked for if he can’t he has to accept the Sabres lower salary. That to me is fair with UPL. I am open for all trades regardless of the player. If someone wants to overpay for Tage Thompson or Devon Levi the Sabres should be open for business. I am also open to selling Buffalo Sabres players if it keeps the Buffalo Sabres games affordable. It’s not like these bums have won anything. Also new Buffalo Sabres policy any Sabres player or Sabres employee that lashes out at Sabres fans in post game interviews or not saluting the Sabres fans is suspended 1/10th of his yearly salary that will take care of that crap the ungrateful bums in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

  4. Look Buffalo fans were sold an acting performance by Terry Pegula the moment he got here. This is the real Terry Pegula. How do you think he became a billionaire? Money matters to this man big time even more so than Ralph Wilson which is hard to believe. I think Terry Pegula is a ruthless businessman and I think behind the scenes Terry Pegula is very different than the bumbling fool he plays to Buffalo sports fans. I saw this man as a phony for a long time. The clue was when he fired a classy former Buffalo Sabres player Pat LaFontaine that was the first tip off Terry Pegula isn’t what he was playing publicly. He went off on the Buffalo News editorial board when he was introducing himself as the Buffalo Sabres owner. So the signs were there he is a ruthless businessman and you either buy a ticket or you don’t. He doesn’t care it has nothing to do with pride it’s always the bottom line money. That is why the Sabres are stuck with Don Granato he coaches cheap. Terry Pegula saw an opportunity to go legitimate from fracking to sports ownership. Lucky us? It is sad if Ralph Wilson could have hung on a little longer to get to the gambling business tied to the NFL. Jeremy Jacobs would have bid if Ralph Wilson just hung on a few more years. Jeremy Jacobs couldn’t bid because of the West Virginia race tracks he owns that have gambling slot machines in them. I think if that happened Jeremy Jacobs as Bills owner instead of Terry Pegula as Bills owner we would never have had Legends and Jerry Jones. That is going to potentially be the downfall of the Bills franchise in Buffalo overpriced PSL’s. I get it there are critics of Delaware North but they are Buffalo owned. Terry Pegula is not Buffalo he is from Scranton, Pennsylvania. Few knew this man 15 years ago in Buffalo. He came out of no where and Buffalo has been paying the price ever since. Higher ticket prices for a horrible hockey product and a soon to be overpriced PSL’s for a NFL football product in my opinion. Go Sabres! Go Bills! Let’s Go Buffalo

  5. I am glad this Buffalo Sabres season is coming to an end. The Sabres season was over a long time ago. I guess the issue I have as a Sabres fan is I don’t see our top six forwards being good enough to win a Stanley Cup as a core unit. Individually traded to a good team sure. All that tanking and look what the Sabres have to show for it? The Buffalo Sabres fan base is gone the arena is filled with other teams fans. I don’t think Terry Pegula will do a thing because he is just managing the Buffalo Sabres like a business asset nothing more than that. The same thing is going to happen to the Buffalo Bills they will be like Sabres games with out of town fans of other teams that can pay the PSL prices. The Buffalo Bills are just a business asset now for Terry Pegula. Again I don’t think really anything anyone can do about it. They are private businesses and there is nothing really anyone can do. It is what it is. Buffalo Super Fan would you pay and go to this Sabres product if you were healthy enough to do so? No for the Buffalo Sabres and no for the Buffalo Bills after 2025 when PSL’s start just on principle no. Because I don’t believe in paying for the right to buy a season ticket personally. For me it would be television for both the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills. I can barely stomach watching the Buffalo Sabres on television they are a pathetic franchise that is basically a AHL franchise in the NHL today in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

Major sports leagues selling out to the gambling dollar was a mistake. Now involvement of players, refs, major gamblers in relation to many post game results will always be questioned.

I don’t know it depends how you look at it. Without casino gambling the Buffalo Bills wouldn’t be getting that new Bills stadium. You realize the Senaca casino settlement with New York State over taxes is what New York State gave over $500 million plus dollars towards funding the new Bills stadium. No sports gambling no new Bills stadium. And don’t kid yourself it went into Terry Pegula’s stadium which goes into his pocket without it the Bills would be moved. Where do you think when the state gets around to renovating Key Bank Center that the state are getting that money? Most likely gambling tax money from Western New York. I could see the Senacas as one of many possible owners Buffalo Sabres/Buffalo Bandits owners at some point. Terry Pegula is 73 years old he isn’t going to be around forever and now with Kim Pegula not a possiblity of running the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres anymore? No way the 5 Pegula children between two wives are going to agree on anything after Terry Pegula see what happened to the Philadelphia Athletics after Connie Mack passed away. So both the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres will be sold at some point.

I don’t think the Buffalo Bills are save able. Most think it’s the Buffalo Sabres leaving because the Sabres suck and the Bills are winning. But the NFL is very expensive and PSL’s are going to be the end of the Bills in Buffalo after the 15 year ironclad part of the new Bills stadium lease is up long term again hope I am wrong. Selling 62,000 PSL’s is a heavy lift for Buffalo and you can’t really make it work because of the lack of enough big corporations in Buffalo compared to a San Diego or even Oakland. I think at some point when the Bills are sold by the Pegula children they will be moved after the 15 year guarantee is up. The Buffalo Sabres have year round potential with an arena in the heart of downtown Buffalo. Plus the business model is different it requires less corporate boxes to sell for the Buffalo Sabres compared to the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo just doesn’t have the business model the NFL is moving forward with which is unfortunate. I hope I am wrong in my opinion. Go Bills! Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

You guys spend too much time worrying about whether former Sabres succeed.

Exactly he wasn’t happy in Buffalo and sometimes a trade wakes players up that I better pick it up or no one will want me in the NHL. Also no way Sam Reinhart scores 50 goals with our limited Buffalo Sabres lineup. Devon Levi better be the real deal which to be honest he has regressed since he signed with the Buffalo Sabres and I am concerned. So much so I am open to trading Devon Levi if the Sabres sign UPL. Selling high before Devon Levi stock starts to drop. Devon Levi in Rochester is a regression of play. I wasn’t wide about his play in Vancouver when the Sabres needed him to be great he was average to below average. Ok that was his chance to show us what he learned in Rochester. Total disaster Levi failed which is alarming. I open to trading him to the Montreal Canadians if they are willing to overpay in trade compensation. Again I would shop Devon Levi, Alex Tuch, Dylan Cozens and Peyton Krebs in trade packages for experienced NHL players. I am on record I want John Tavares as the Buffalo Sabres team captain if it takes Alex Tuch as part of a package to acquire John Tavares so be it and I would go all in on Patrick Kane in NHL free agency offering him a three year contract that should land the Buffalo Sabres Patrick Kane services. If Kevyn Adams fails again at signing Patrick Kane fire Adams. I would replace Don Granato with Lindy Ruff as head coach. I would also trade any Sabres player that has a problem with the Sabres firing Don Granato there is the Sabres door. You can’t let the players run the Buffalo Sabres organization. I would also add a veteran goalie to backup UPL. No draft picks back I want proven NHL players back in trade compensation to the Buffalo Sabres in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

  8. I am sorry I don’t get the big deal or the point as a 56 year old man? To me it sounds like an excuse to take off from work early and drink which Western New York loves that. I don’t think most people give a hoot about the eclipse they just want to get out of work to go drinking early if you ask me. Maybe it’s one of those young people things? The last thing I would do is stare at the sun you could damage your eyes. But what do I know carry on in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

  9. Good win for the Buffalo Sabres but the problem is the Sabres have played more games than the two teams ahead of us. We have to hope the Detroit Red Wings and New York Islanders get no points. It’s disappointing because the Sabres could potentially miss the playoffs by a point again. And the Sabres still didn’t learn a lesson from last season that you can’t take off the first half of the NHL season which is disappointing as a Sabres fan in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

I think Kev is saying he can't get elite players to come to Buffalo so we have to grow our own.

The Buffalo Sabres can’t get elite players to come to Buffalo anymore because our owner Terry Pegula thought he was the smartest hockey person in the room. Called for Buffalo Sabres tanking and with that came huge risks to the Buffalo Sabres reputation as a solid respectable NHL franchise. Terry Pegula did that no one else he is the owner the buck stops at the top. The Buffalo Sabres market starts with Buffalo extends to Rochester/Erie/Toronto GA and the Golden Horseshoe. The Buffalo Sabres franchise for all extent and purposes is the second Toronto NHL franchise and the Toronto Maple Leafs love it that way better in Buffalo than the Toronto suburbs. The Buffalo Sabres market is huge and Terry Pegula turned the franchise into the likes of the Arizona Coyotes today which is garbage. Then after Terry Pegula runs the Sabres into the ground he basically gives the Buffalo Sabres the same love as Charlie Finley gave the old California Golden Seals. See because the Oakland Athletics were Charlie Finley’s favorite same thing with Terry Pegula once he bought the Buffalo Bills the Buffalo Sabres got Charlie Finley treatment by Terry Pegula.

Oh I know thankfully Buffalo still has NHL hockey? Oh what would Buffalo ever do without Terry Pegula as owner. Like Buffalo has done for over 100 plus seasons in professional sports go on. Ok Terry Pegula isn’t the Sun, the moon and the stars. Buffalo sports went on before Terry Pegula and it will go on after Terry Pegula he is someone just passing in Buffalo sports history unfortunately he won’t get on with it and sell the Buffalo Sabres. See above the Buffalo Sabres market is from Buffalo to Southern Ontario no one is moving from here to tiny Salt Lake City or failed twice Atlanta. Buffalo needs to understand Buffalo isn’t all of the Buffalo Sabres market it never was just by the name Sabres instead of Sabers the Knox Brothers saw this franchise as a Buffalo Niagara Frontier up through Southern Ontario. Terry Pegula’s clueless ness is driving the hardcore Canadian hockey fans away from Buffalo Sabres games. Sell the Buffalo Sabres Terry Pegula to a owner that cares about the hockey team in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

  11. I would go short term contract with no guarantees for next season because goalies can be flashes in the pan sometimes. I don’t think the Buffalo Sabres should promise him the number one goalie job. And I would definitely bring another veteran goalie in to push UPL. Because last thing you want as a Sabres fan is to overpay UPL give him long term and then his play drops off. Then the Buffalo Sabres are stuck with him hoping and wishing his game comes back on a contract year makes me nervous that it could be Tage Thompson all over again. With one great season and then back to where he was before his great season. UPL like Tage Thompson were late bloomers be careful with that. I think last year was Tage Thompson career year I am not sure Tage Thompson will ever get to that level again. I hope I am wrong but I have real doubts about Tage Thompson or Alex Tuch ever leading the Buffalo Sabres to a Stanley Cup championship. I don’t think they are talented enough or have it in them again hope I am wrong in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

  12. Another Buffalo Sabres loss. I don’t see regardless of what the Sabres do in the offseason that this is fixable by October. The Sabres don’t have difference makers like Nashville Predators Filip Forsberg. The Sabres can’t go out and acquire free agents because the good free agents don’t want to play in Buffalo. Regardless of who the Sabres draft they aren’t going to be able to carry this team offensively by this October . Drafting and drafting doesn’t seem to matter the player waits his time in Buffalo until he is traded to a contending team. The Buffalo Sabres are a AHL feeder team that happens to play in the NHL. I just think this is a major rebuild and too much of a heavy lift for Kevyn Adams and Don Granato. The Sabres are basically at square one again with three defensemen Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power and Bowen Byram and two goalies UPL and Devon Levi. Tage Thompson is a question mark was last year the best the Sabres are going to get and he is at his ceiling? Alex Tuch and Dylan Cozens are roll players on the third line with a playoff contender. No amount of hoping and wishing are making those two Tuch and Cozens top 6 forwards they aren’t offensively skilled enough they are at best try hard guys when they feel like playing. The Buffalo Sabres are a mess in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

    My two cents.

I liked Mitts but I think that Thompson and Cozens are 1&2 C going forward. KA would have to pay all 3 C’s $7M each, which probably wouldn’t work.

I have always liked Byram, he is definitely a top 4 guy, just the wrong hand. I think KA makes another move or two here so this is not how the D line up in October.

I see this as a sell high on Mitts, he is pretty much at his max production in Buffalo. I like his chances to go deep into the playoffs and will watch closely. The Avs really need a 2C and he could find a nice spot there. Once the Sabres are eliminated, the Avs are who I will pull for.

One of the LHD might get flipped or one of these guys becomes permanent on the right side.

As others have said, the dressing room gets a wake up call, which I like.
I hope the next moves are for a gritty forward or two.

I agree with you on Tage Thompson but another Sabres center will take Dylan Cozens place at some point because he isn’t skilled enough to be a number two center. Dylan Cozens on a good team is a 3rd or 4th line checking center if he decides to play every game instead of floating. The Bowen Byram trade would be good if the defensemen the Sabres got back didn’t have 3 concussions and he is 22 years old. I think it comes down to do you have trust in the Buffalo Sabres management or the Colorado Avalanche management? I don’t trust the Sabres management the Avalanche wouldn’t trade Byram if they felt ok with his concussions. The Avalanche know Byram is one good hit away from his career being over in the NHL. The sad thing is Byram is coming to a very physical Eastern Conference style of hockey where he going to be hit by teams like the Boston Bruins. The Bruins are going to test him right away that is what concerns me with the Bowen Byram trade. It’s unfortunate but some players there heads aren’t able to take contact while other players can take contact and be fine it’s the great mystery of a persons brain in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

  14. Another Buffalo Sabres loss what on earth is Dylan Cozens doing peeling away from the play when Toronto Maple Leafs Auston Matthews scored in overtime? There are too many Sabres players doing that hence why the Sabres are in the position they are in with the NHL standings. The Sabres in the offseason need major changes to their top six forwards. Starting with Alex Tuch who is the king of doing this stick checking and turning away from the play instead of using his body every night. Too many Sabres players don’t want to pay the price body wise every night to win in the NHL. Alex Tuch and Dylan Cozens can’t get away with floating they aren’t talented enough skill wise to do that if they aren’t using their body they aren’t any use for the Sabres in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

    Serious concussion history.

Exactly that is why I don’t like this trade for the Buffalo Sabres. Concussions never go fully away they get worse over time as you get contact. In professional hockey there is contact there is no way to avoid contact and do your job as a NHL defenseman. I don’t get the Buffalo Sabres organization they weren’t ok with Jack Eichel getting surgery but they are ok with a player with multiple concussion injuries. Just a messed up organization Kevyn Adams, Don Granato and the entire Sabres analytics department need to be fired. In today’s game in sports with concussions and CTE I never trade for players like that in the modern era of sports. The concussion could pop up at anytime and the player is out months or worse retires at 26 years old and the team they are stuck with nothing in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

Wouldn't mind Lindy coming home in some capacity, but NOT behind the bench.

Why for the Buffalo Sabres fans that don’t want Lindy Ruff back? Do you feel comfortable with all the Sabres head coaches that followed Lindy Ruff. You know some Sabres fans don’t get it. The Buffalo Sabres aren’t a destination have to take the head coaching job in Buffalo. You’re not getting A list coaches like the past Buffalo Sabres teams when the NHL was a lot smaller in size Scotty Bowman and Punch Imlach aren’t coming to the Buffalo Sabres today. The NHL has more franchises today in warmer climates. Terry Pegula can reach out and offer the moon but it doesn’t mean they are coming to coach the Buffalo Sabres see Mike Babcock. The Sabres organization would be lucky if Lindy Ruff would comeback to coach the Buffalo Sabres. Lindy Ruff is a hockey coach not a President of hockey that is Bucky Gleason crap from the Buffalo News a decade ago idea. And a president of hockey wouldn’t make a difference anyway the owner always has the final say because it’s there team.

The Buffalo Sabres need a coach like Lindy Ruff to at least get the Sabres in the hunt for playoffs again. The Sabres are so bad presently they aren’t even in the hunt for the playoffs. At least as bad as the Buffalo Bills use to be in the playoff drought they were in the hunt for the playoffs. Hire Lindy Ruff as Sabres head coach just to create some excitement in the offseason. If the Sabres stay the course with Don Granato no chance year 14 of the Sabres playoff drought will continue in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo
