Off my pedestal? I was just commenting on the fact that there were about three of us here until the score got away.
Didn't you condescendingly snort that NHL and NFL players don't want to play in Buffalo due to message board activity?
It is amazing to me how many "fans" show up to this thread when the Sabres are losing. Where were you the last 2 games? No wonder no NHL/NFL player wants to come and play here. I'm not sure if it is the shi**y weather or all the shi**y deep fried chicken scraps we eat that make us so sad. The bench is fired up
Yes, you did.

Be careful stepping down off of your pedestal. They usually have slippery slopes.

Where the F is Neidermayer??
(Sorry if someone already posted this. I just logged on and was too lazy to look it up.)
This game is absolute garbage, just like this team!! F$%K!!!!!
He's out tonight because he and his wife just had a baby. Luke Adam skating in his place.

And then Briere is whacking away and Rivet whacks him - and they call Rivet.
That's usually how it goes regardless of the teams involved. Another example of Rivet's smart Captaincy.

I did, normally that works for me too but I even tried shutting down my iPod and it still won't work... the app loads but when I click play it kicks me back out. :censored:
That figures--- suffice it to say, you're not missing all that much. :death:

Argh, was listening just fine with the WGR app and right at the beginning of intermission it went wonky and now I can't get it to load. F.
That app crashes constantly--- I don't know if you shut it all the way down or not but that's usually the only way to get it going again.

Not being able to clear the puck out of our zone is like, Top 5 for me.
Mike Grier is struggling in all facets, but he's not even remotely close to being the main issue. That's my point.
-
how can a 35 year old MAN who plays in the NHL repeatedly be unable to shoot a 6oz puck more than 15 ft when trying to clear it?
Not discounting the validity of your observation but that's not even in my top 100 issues with this team.

What do you think of VS. interviewing players well the game is going on? I would be pissed if I was the coach but if they are going to do it it should at least be a hot blond chick
They interview the coaches as well... I'm pretty sure Lindy's been interviewed before.

-Ennis is a joy to watch. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: He's easily the most offensively dynamic forward this team has seen since Danny Briere. I don't like the Maxim comparisons. They're inaccurate. This kid has the same skill set that made DB great, and you'll continue to see that throughout the season.
I agree with all your points, more or less--- as for this one in particular I think any comparison being drawn amongst fans between Ennis and Max are only superficial. Shifty waterbug on skates with the ability to puckhandle in a phone booth--- At times, when he carries the puck into the offensive zone and curls back to the blueline, he does look similar to Afinogenov. The fact that he tucks half his sweater into his hip pads further creates the illusion. Completely superficial. He has much better vision than Maxim ever had, and certainly at this age. As you said, Briere is a more apt comparison.

Rick's at the top of his game. It's night and day compared to last season at this point. It's funny -- you never think of an announcer having a bad season due to injury/illness. I have to believe Rick was sick a year ago. And maybe on some meds that had his eyes playing tricks on him.
There were two separate games last year where he referred to Mair as Ruff---- I know they both wore #22, but I was beginning to worry that dementia might be setting in.

Not at all.
This is the same situation they found themselves in early last season which led to their great start. They went all of November having Monday through Wednesday off. They are also facing a team coming off a decent road trip. I would expect this team to win 5-1 or 6-1 tonight. I also expect some posters to try and sell this team for what they are not by pointing to their suddenly bloated offensive numbers. I've seen it for 3 plus years now, I know when it's coming.
I'm as down on this team for it's inconsistency and softness as anyone, but even though the Thrashers are coming off a west coast swing their last game was Friday night... that's a substantial amount of rest. Atlanta may be a little rusty but I don't know that it's fair to say the Sabres are outplaying them because they're more well rested.

I can't be alone in that thought....and because bigger money is now in control of the seats at the arena, you are not going to have an exciting atmosphere. The arena now is not much different than a Florida Panthers game.
The irony being that the throngs of Sabres fans in attendance at Florida Panthers' (or Tampa Bay and Carolina, as well) games are so raucous and lively they can clearly be heard via the TV broadcast. I've experienced some truly dead crowds at HSBC over the last 150 or so games I've attended since the lockout and there was clearly a shift starting around the time of the 2006-07 season to a crowd that considered a Sabres game a social event, worth more as an anecdote than an actual living hockey experience.
About 2 years ago I recall seeing a very well manicured young dude, replete with designer jeans, leather jacket, and silk scarf, with a large group that looked more at home at Shea's than a sporting event, seated in the row in front of me--- this dandy fop actually wiped off his seat before he sat in it, and, to prove chivalry is truly dead, refused to do likewise for his girlfriend. Later, after a Buffalo goal, someone accidentally spilled beer on him in celebration, and he spent the next 10 minutes or so glaring back at our row in disgust. Seriously? Upset that beer was obviously accidentally spilled on you at a hockey game in the heat of the moment following a goal celebration? If it were intentional--- sure, that's worthy of getting upset. But if you don't want to be in the sightline of potential beer spillage, then the last place to go is a hockey game.
It certainly varies from night to night, but overall the wrong kind of crowd has invaded HSBC. Game 5 against Ottawa in 2007 was the single most electric and involved crowd I've ever been a part of, but that was probably the last time the crowd felt like a living breathing organism--- that we could almost will the team to victory (sadly of course, it didn't happen that night). The metrosexuals in the crowd are merely mimicking the metrosexuals on the ice.

Could Connolly be effective on a wing? Ie, ship out Stafford and call up Luke Adam? Connolly is generally awful on draws and totally inconsistent when asked to direct play.
Just a thought experiment.
