Thanks, but the problem is that I don't know how to it on my phone.  I am a rank amateur in working my phone.

  2. FWIW, I only know about the Budd Dwyer incident because of the Filter song "Hey Man Nice Shot".

Thankfully the clip I saw just had the immediate impact. I'm not gonna watch it again and didn't see any blood

I was at the Richard Zednik game, it was utterly chilling. I don't recall how much, if any blood, was evident on the ice but that's probably because I felt totally numb.

I’m sure they’ll rebound. The slow and sloppiness is unacceptable. These “kids” should have been fired up and want to play balls to the wall. They were physical. I really liked Greenway. He was everywhere. It looked like he was one of the only ones that were ready.

I was curious how they'd react to all the hype they've received all offseason. A lot of what I've heard from them sounds like they may think they've already arrived, even if they're saying all the right things. This is still an incredibly young team so I'm not shocked at the performance. I don't think it lacked passion but it certainly wasn't focused. As far as I'm concerned, I expect this to be a learning experience and they'll right the ship in short order.

  4. My interpretation of Dahlin-Clifton is that they were all but penciled in as an opening night pair based on how they'd fared throughout training camp. Obviously, that didn't pan out in an actual game setting:

Granato has emphasized he will mix up the defensive pairs depending on certain situations. We saw him do it against Columbus on Wednesday night. But since the start of practice, Rasmus Dahlin and Connor Clifton have played together. This would be a big step up in role for Clifton, who got minimal chances to play in Boston’s top four during his career with the Bruins.

“I put the two of them together as a pair a day or two before camp and you could have put any righty with any lefty,” Granato said. “But then they were communicating really well, which is key. They’re talking after each rep and getting on the same page and Rasmus is helping Connor acclimate to how we want to play or re-acclimate to how we want to play. Connor is communicating to him how he sees the situation. So why would I change that right now? There’s a lot of good happening.”

VO or Biro the 13th Forwsrd.

As good as Benson has been, some games lower in the lineup would be a better introduction to the regular season

As great as Skinner and Tage are, their defense leaves a lot to be desired. Expecting an 18 year old to fill Tuch’s Spot is a tall ask

Krebs has shown defensive responsibility and playmaking ability, moving Him up with Cozens and JJP is worth a try

Mitts gets Benson to start the season, an upgrade at 5v5 over VO

Jost, who had some of the best defensive metrics on the team last season, rounds out the shutdown line.

Great post, it has what plants crave.

  6. Evaluating players at different levels (as with a college player like Levi and a professional like UPL) is not a 1 to 1 comparison because they don’t both possess the same body of work. Levi’s development has been much more impressive than UPL was at this same stage. And although UPL has progressed nicely, perhaps even exceeding expectations, Levi’s ceiling still projects higher.

UPL may become more consistent and maybe blossom into a long term NHL starter but it’s unlikely his play ever exceeds Levi’s potential.

I love Buffalo & every sports team / respect all the ownership. I grew up in shoebox near the airport. The Sabres were an outlet for my frustrations & a life-support to me personally. If all of you love their ownership style & our lack of success since, good for you. I also in no way want anything but the best for their family, I will pray for her & her getting better. She was our 30-40 year backstop of ownership I expected, now it’s more like let’s see how it goes for therapy. It’s a nightmare scenario for the area & the future of the local professional sports teams, which they solely own. I hope they get organized & find any positive aspects from this can, including the team’s performance.

P.S. It’s been multiple months & we knew taken by ambulance / silence from the top meant something horrible happened. There’s no mystery or surprise, just details revealed & hope for her better health.

What kind of car do you drive?

  8. A well constructed organization will build on and enhance improvements from season to season. Organizations without continuity and structure can flounder in the new season despite whatever success was achieved the year prior. Case in point: Vancouver ended 2021-22 well but is a mess to start this season.

The key for the Sabres is to identify ideal workload management for the goaltenders and closely monitor the ebbs and flows of confidence of the young players. It’s pretty clear Granato and Adams are clued in to those developments and have a plan going forward. Whether or not they can sustain it as the year progresses is the question for every team but it’s nonsensical to disconnect the focused start to this season from how they ended last year.  There’s clear continuity but it isn’t guaranteed to last. That’s why we watch.

  9. This really was a great line, so kudos to Michelle Girardi-Zumwalt for writing it (and Gare for delivering it): “Your name will hang in the rafters, but your voice will echo forever.”

It's terrific that Pergament shared these name, I like to see attention paid to the many people responsible behind the scenes. It's especially fitting in this instance because we've heard about many unsung contributors in technical roles only because of RJ recognizing them on broadcasts throughout the years.
