Interesting side note. In His article for Expected Buffalo about the trade deadline, Chad DeDomincis mentioned that the Sabres got back in once the price dropped on Chychurn this week. Buffalo was willing to give their 2023 1st Top 12 protected along with the other picks. Ottawa came back with the deal that was accepted, the First Top 5 protected and the Sabres were not given the opportunity to counter offer.

He said as much on the Greg Tompsett Sports Show. Ottawa made an offer, Buffalo made an offer and they picked Ottawa with no opportunity for Buffalo to counter.

I guess we are going home with the girl who we took to the dance.

unless they get Seattle to trade away a Dman , I don’t see who else is out there

a Chychrun trade would have given the fan base a good jolt of energy

still shaking my head that he couldn’t get a deal done

The team is playing pretty well and home games are still pretty empty, I doubt giving the fan base a jolt is worth departing from the plan for KA. We're going to be paying Power and Dahlin big contracts, how many guys you want to give 7M+ on D to?

Man, this was on Saturday!? Must have been busier this week than I thought.

Not to circle back or pick a scab, but I don’t believe punching someone in the face on its own is illegal. It happens all the time, especially in the sport we all love. Assault is illegal.

And I have to admit to getting a secret enjoyment out of watching fights at sporting events. Maybe it’s because everyone I have ever seen get punched was either a willing participant,… or deserved it, like this jackstain.

I’m glad she’s alive & has family to help her, good luck to her in her recovery. The Bills & Sabres (so far) record wise got so much better this past season for a reason, hopefully the family can pass the torch to the new generation sooner & they can stay hands off. The past 10 years of hockey has been difficult to watch, this season has been a savior for me mentally.

8 posts in before getting an ignore, that's an accomplishment. This post seems to reveal a lot about your character.

I think he has made great strides. I think they can find someone that rounds out the team better.

That would seem to play against what the coach wants to do though - develop players they draft. Article in the Athletic said he'd prioritize development over playoffs this season.

    Portillo no.  Johnson maybe.

I don't really understand this. So the NHL draft is really such a crapshoot that you can draft a foreign kid and he can just basically ignore you for 2 years, go play in college or a lower league and just become a UFA if over 20 or go back into the draft if under 20? Looks like the rules for USA players are a little more onerous, but basically they would just need to finish college and wait a few months, right? What is the motivation for anyone to sign with the team that drafted them?

Dino always had a few pops before every performance.

Many times he held a drink in one hand and an ever present smoke in the other ... always lit.  I do believe the one in this video is lit.  No one cared back then.

When he wasn't drinking he would ask for a glass of apple juice just to keep up appearances.

  8. Hi all. This is the first season in YEARS that I have been consistently watching Sabres games again. Following my yearly purge of all Bills-related follows on twitter when they inevitably break my heart I've decided I want to start following hockey twitter more. Can you recommend some accounts that would help me both with general hockey knowledge and more Sabres-related content? Thanks!

    That's not how it works.

This is where I got my limited info from. Don't they have 2 years to sign a pro contract or they go back into the draft if they are under 20 or become UFAs if they are over? I'm not pretending to be informed. I'm just confused by the NHL draft system, which I just started trying to understand.
