Somebody has to teach that kid how to shave though. The face pubes aren't making him look older, they just make him look like he can't shave.Â

Any feeling like that from me (and I can’t say it’s been infrequent of late) is personnel based. From players to management to owners.

Yep. Players and coaches come and go. I root for the laundry.

He doesn't need to be a banger, but he absolutely needs to be able to use his size to pin people to the boards, negate their momentum, and win puck battles. He needs to be able to use his reach take away shots and once-or-twice force an offside at the blue line instead of giving up easy entries. And the occasional tie-up of a player and/or his stick to limit deflections in front of the net couldn't hurt, either.
He is the POLAR OPPOSITE of a banger. He's, what, 6'6" and intimidates no one.
I'm not saying he needs to go out and ram everything in sight, but good God, play to your size.

Some quick thoughts on this game: UPL would be my first star. He is solidifying the notion that he is a good #1 goalie in the league. He was the difference in this game for us where the Flyers had the edge territorially.Â
I like the pairing of Dahlin and Power. I still don't understand the negativity toward Power. Too much criticism is directed toward his style of play. He's not a banger, and never will be.Â
Quinn is good and is going to be a core player for us. His injuries and loss from the lineup for much of the season really hurt us.Â
Benson is becoming a fan favorite. He's arguably our best forechecker. He and Quinn on the same line has a lot of potential.Â
Granato called a time out to excoriate his team. It had an effect!
I like Clifton's game. He was a good pickup.Â
A win is a win. One game at a time until the clock runs out.Â

I agree with what you said. The bolded are problems, IMO.

Benson’s stick just died.  It came off before he shot.  Must have had a deep internal crack.  They don’t use real lumber like the old Northland or CCM.Â

Can someone help me understand our obvious philosophy on not taking the body or taking it very sparingly?
What is the theory?

Yes. The Sabres struggle against teams that try.Â
Especially "heavy" teams that try. Love the 3-1 lead, but it's going to be interesting to see how they handle the inevitable heavy game coming in the third.

Third period strategy needs to be "when in doubt, shoot".

Entertaining win.
UPL was good and lucky.
Possession was really good, they moved the puck well.
I am surprised that Washington was so listless when they are right there in the WC slot battle. That's what struck me the most. They showed nothing, except a few posts.

JJ's got a nose for the puck and the speed and hands to make him a real scorer. Hang on to that guy.
