Of course longevity means something, but you don't measure longevity in aggregate if you want to know if a coach was good. You do what I just did measure winning percentage against games and you find out that the coach with the 5th most wins coached the 4th most games and was the 9th most successful coach of coaches with the top 10 games coached.

Did you know that Ruff has a higher career win % than Paul Maurice and John Tortorella, or doesnā€™t that support your point?Ā

I absolutely did. Total wins is NEVER an appropriate or valuable statistic to use. I already mentioned why.Ā It's what we call a "vanity metric". Winning percentage is infinitely more valuable and applying winning percentage over X games gives you an apples to apples comparison against peer groups.

We will have to agree to disagree on this one. Even without knowing their winning percentages, if you tell me the coach or player who has the most wins all time in their sport, I think that is an excellent indicator of above average success. I think itā€™s a function of longevity, which in sports tends to be a function of success.

  3. And weā€™re listening to Muel opine about leadership becauseā€¦?

Does anyone consider him to be any kind of authority on the subject?

Work on your durability, young man.

He doesn't need to be a banger, but he absolutely needs to be able to use his size to pin people to the boards, negate their momentum, and win puck battles. He needs to be able to use his reach take away shots and once-or-twice force an offside at the blue line instead of giving up easy entries. And the occasional tie-up of a player and/or his stick to limit deflections in front of the net couldn't hurt, either.

He is the POLAR OPPOSITE of a banger. He's, what, 6'6" and intimidates no one.

I'm not saying he needs to go out and ram everything in sight, but good God, play to your size.

Some quick thoughts on this game: UPL would be my first star. He is solidifying the notion that he is a good #1 goalie in the league. He was the difference in this game for us where the Flyers had the edge territorially.Ā

I like the pairing of Dahlin and Power. I still don't understand the negativity toward Power. Too much criticism is directed toward his style of play. He's not a banger, and never will be.Ā

Quinn is good and is going to be a core player for us. His injuries and loss from the lineup for much of the season really hurt us.Ā

Benson is becoming a fan favorite. He's arguably our best forechecker. He and Quinn on the same line has a lot of potential.Ā

Granato called a time out to excoriate his team. It had an effect!

    I like Clifton's game. He was a good pickup.Ā

A win is a win. One game at a time until the clock runs out.Ā

I agree with what you said. The bolded are problems, IMO.
