"Our system did not change, what changed was at time the focus was on cleaning up some things defensively." Goes on to talk about how there was not a philosophy change here but that felt players might have changed some of their dynamic. He gets asked point blank what happened. He felt often times they were caught in the middle, meaning the were not an attacking team or a defensive team. Saw hesitancy. They need to fix it he said.

I will say he definitely hit the nail on the head with regards to what went wrong this season.

I'm sorry I know he's gonna be a good player but it's a f****** joke  For the old generation that have been suffering .

I don't even know if I'm gonna be here in 3 years I drink so much

Do you ever have anything positive to say or is it just constant negativity in the form of gibberish and incomplete sentences? What would you have done then? Adams was definitely working the phones trying to make a move...

We can’t forget that we aren’t the only improving team.  Det and Ott are also improving and Pitt and Wash won’t go away quietly.

The only one of these teams I'm really worried about is Ottawa. This year was the beginning of the end for Pitt and Wash. At this point Wash is in limbo until Ovechkin beats Gretzky's record and retires. They need to tear it down. The same goes for Pitt. Neither team has anything in the way of prospects.

Detroit tried to fill holes with UFAs and it clearly didn't work -- they also don't have the same level of prospects/young players as Buf or Ott. I will admit though that Yzerman is a great GM and they shouldn't be ignored.

  4. The UPL interview was the most interesting of the ones I watched. He seemed very emotional. I think he knows that his future with this team is very much up in the air. I really hope Levi coming in fuels him to be a better player as opposed to him requesting a trade or something. Having a Levi 1A and UPL 1B tandem in the future like Ullmark and Swayman would be great.

After watching the locker clean-out videos, I have just a few comments/observations:

Dahlin's comments on his contract scare me.

Best interview was Jost. Hope he comes back.

Tuch's personality is very much like Ryan Miller's. The closest I've seen from a Sabre, or any NHL player, since Miller himself. He's more approachable than Miller and much less of a smooth talker, but the fundamental personality is very similar.

Okposo is such a dignified and smart guy with a really great sounding voice. He sounds like a person conflicted over whether to put in another season as a player in the NHL. I can see him as a coach/assistant coach or GM/Assistant GM in the very near future.

I gotta disagree on the Dahlin bit. I think he was just so focused on hockey he really didn’t think about the extension. Frankly I’d be surprised if Dahlin didn’t settle for a bit less on his contract than what he ought to earn. IMO the Tage and Cozens contracts set a precedent that a leader and good character guy like Dahlin will follow.

  6. 1. Fix the PP and PK. The PK was terrible all year. It wasn't a personnel issue -- the system was simply bad. The PP might have been top 10 in the league, but they were really just riding an extremely hot PP streak from the beginning-midpoint of the year. Once teams began to prevent Tage's one timer it fell apart. They need to develop set plays on the PP other than Dahlin to Thompson.

    2. I don't want to see Bryson or Olofsson play another game for this team, probably ever. Even just last night I watched Bryson make 2-3 key mistakes that had a large impact on the game. He brings very little compared to how much of a liability he is. Olofsson is just bad at 5v5. I could justify keeping him if he was scoring on the PP, but he isn't.

    3. Bring in another goaltender. I don't want everything on Levi's shoulders next year. Ideally the situation would be a 1A 1B even split between Levi and this other goaltender.

    4. Trade for/sign another solid defenseman.

  7. Playing Levi would be a lot of pressure for his second career NHL game. I think you go with UPL. He's extremely streaky and IMO he played well versus Philly. Frankly there's a case to be made for all four goaltenders - Comrie has the best win percentage as of late, and Anderson has been the best goaltender statistically. Hard to predict what Donny ends up doing.

Gotta go with Comrie. Huge game with playoff ramifications.

Good to see Jost is coming back. Would be great to get Tillman, and Samuelson back. At least one to get Bryson off.  The lineup I’d like to see ASAP (while Tuch is out):

    Skinner-Thompson-Quinn

    Mitts-Cozens-Hinostroza

    Greenway-Krebs-Peterka/VO

    Girgs-Jost-Okposo

    Dahlin-Samuelsson

    Power-Joki

    Tillman-Lyubushkin

I don’t have a lot of confidence in VO. Too much of a liability defensively. But perhaps he could be better if Greenway and Krebs were both out there?

The worst thing that happened last night was having Bryson and Olafsson on ice at the same time. They are the only two double digit negatives in plus/minus on the team. And -21, -20 at that! Have to avoid that if possible.

But when one considers that Peterka has 21 points with a -9 +/-, Olafsson has 32 points and a -21, the sieve-like defense of Olafsson is even more apparent.

This is the correct lineup. I agree, Peterka over VO, but Donny seems to love Victor.
