  1. Former Best defenseman of the year in the SHL  goes to Buffalo. Loses his love of the game and leaves.

C´mon, something have got to change....Eichel, one of the best in the NHL, Dahlin, who by the way has bulked up to 93 kg, and a few others, a few, can stay. The rest of the team needs to go, the okposos, girgs, larssons and many more. Coach is probably good, but the ones above him needs to go including the owners, before you get a good team.

This is so obvious but nothing is done about it, feel sad for Jack and the fans.

  2. Yes they practised at the globe arena where the games will be, but the rink was NHL size, just for those 2 games. "My" team Djurgarden plays there sometimes but mostly in the rink just next door "hovet". If you didn´t allready knew, ex Buffalo-Berglund plays for Djurgarden now. He is doin´pretty good.

I´m guessing there could have been a 6-700 people in the audience when I left after Buffalos training, probably more came later since it started 3 in the afternoon when most are at work. I saw/heard plenty of english speaking buffalonians in team jerseys so I guess some of you made the trip over here. Well done.

  3. So I just got home from the open practice here in Stockholm. I thoght it wold be fun to see your Buffaloboys live, here are my takes:

Damn, the icesurface is small...yes, often the whole team was on the ice at the same time so of course with 20-25 rather big guys on it made it look smaller but still...it looked really crowded out there even 5 on 5. I doubt I will appreciate those long stretchpasses from the D-men as much anymore - they´re not that long. I think the rink size should be somewhere inbetween european and NHL size. Just my personal opinion. (European rinks are too big, slows the game down.)

Jack Eichel sticks out, he reminds me a lot of Mats Sundin in many ways. Sundin played here in Stockholm before going over to the NHL. I got that "something is going to happen now" feeling when they take control of the puck. Fun to see.

Jeff "happyface" Skinners background as a figureskater was pretty obvious, a couple of times he almost fell over after a hit or a bump but always recovered with a quadrupel-something. Good balance and blades on him.

Overall they looked good and think they will win at least one of the games against Tampa.

However, I didn´t stick around to watch the Lightnings practice...

  4. Cocaine, gluesniffin` and hockey, nice tread, you buffalonians are growing on me "biggly".

Well done yesterday, 2 points against a pretty difficult team, a good start tonight and some solid goaltending could be enough for two more.

I think Dahlin will pick up the pace pointwise the second half of the season.

  5. Just tired to hear about "soft swedes", we have goonish players in Sweden too but like I mentioned before they have no skills, just muscles. You will never see our tough guys in the NHL because there is no shortage of those guys in the USA/Canada (or anywhere else in the world).  NHL teams only pick our most skilled guys and those guys are usually pretty small/light because the "big ice" we play on overhere favors speed and hockey IQ. I´m pretty sure a guy like Bufyglien would look pretty stupid in the SHL but in the NHL he is very useful with his size and weight.

Anyway, i´m off topic here so I will end this rant, I hope you beat Columbus tonight, Tage Thompson will probably score a hattrick after this...

  6. Two mistakes.

Tage Thompson would have scored 5-10 goals in the SHL.

Victor Olofsson scored 27 wich is 3 more than Elias Pettersson, vancouver (5 goals/5 NHLgames) and he is sent down to the AHL ?  This is just a very bad call.

Even worse is the fact that SHLs best D-man Lawrence Pilut did not make the worst team in the NHL last year (no offense, just a fact according to the standings).  This one is just a joke. He is better than Risto (and Dahlin right now) given a couple of months of NHL time.

YES I know there are other factors than just scoring goals and being a good offensive defensman, but in this case I have no doubt that buffalo would be a better team with these guys playing.

(primadonna is indeed two words, in Italian, in Sweden it is used/spelled as one word, in goon it might be two, in that case i´m sorry.)
