Well I’m sure that you know way more than Adams about hockey

Never said i did but i trust the 50 analysts and scouts that say Rossi is better. Plus i trust my eyes when i watch them both play. Hopefully im wrong but for me with this franchise needing to hit i go for the guy closer to a sure thing instead of taking a risk

I believe this is fair and maybe it comes down to I have more faith in his ability to bring in talent because of his transformation of the defense and the steal he got in Skinner.

I’m also not as will to throw a 20 and 21 year old kid under the bus as others here.  If Mitts and Thompson were 23 and 24 I’d be more likely to call them busts but we are even close to that status.

they may not be official busts yet but when these guys get a whole season in the nhl and then get sent down its usually not a good sign. mitts cant even score in ROch. If im botts i trade him while he has any value, if he still does. i see Grigorenko written all over him

Yup. I don't need my guy dropping gloves and punching in the face. I need him to play better hockey. of course once it gets to be 5-1, screw it. Might as well punch him because you are at that point ***** at hockey.

Well since they aren't going to do what you described above id like to see them drop the gloves and punch someone in the face and show some damn pride

Yet to see someone who wants Botterill fired to come up with any realistic alternative timeline that would've made a difference.  Assume ROR was a decision from above, and those UFA's Botterill offered more money to and didn't land no other GM would have either.

Yes we all want something to happen today, but trades are hard.  He still managed to get us a bonafide ELC top-2 defenseman for a total bust and Jeff Skinner for a 2nd round pick.  Our future outlook is great.  It's just six more months until he can really start focusing on winning now without having to hemorrhage the future to do so.

Cmon do you actually believe that? after this year hell have 4 years of not even sniffing the playoffs. Dude is a dud get rid of him asap. I was not on the fire him train at the beginning of the year because i felt as though even though he didn't address scoring in the offseason he had something up his sleeve with all the excess d-men. Now everyone wants out we have too many and we are operating from a position of desperation not of power. Nothing he has done shows me he is even the slight bit able to bring us out of the basement and to the playoffs.  I couldn't stand Murray but at least he went for it. He failed miserably but at least he went for something didn't just sit back and watch the ship sink

  5. i just wish they would see Jbotts is not the guy to lead us anywhere. The sooner they see that the better. The guy has sat around and watched the ship sink for too long. Only so long you can blame TM. Im not all for firing and starting over all the time but god this guy is awful and seems to want to fill our roster with 3rd and 4th line players which he has successfully done. going into the offseason everyone said we need 2nd line scoring we need a 2c and what does he do he trades for more d than can be rostered and does nothing to improve our offense. This team is damn near unwatchable and he continues to do nothing and say it all starts with building in the minors!  So im guessing all this losing is ok with the Sabres fans as long as the Amerks are there in the end while we continue to drown in years of incompetence.

This brings up an interesting question. At one point do we throw in the towel and not want JBOT in charge of any trades? When does the internal pressure to go something change to an internal memo not to trade any future picks or prospects?

    RIGHT NOW!

  7. i don't post on here very often but i do read on here a lot. I just needed to vent to a bunch of people who probably feel the same way. I love Hockey and I love the Sabres but find myself not even turning on the games anymore. Im sick of watching this soft team come out with no hop in their step and no passion for the game. Im sick of seeing players get destroyed with dirty hits and teammates sit around with their thumbs up their *****. I for one am more than ready to see JB fired. Hes done nothing worth an argument to keep his job. Im not saying trade everyone im just saying when teams have droughts like we do and he does nothing it really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. He has shown no ability to get the job done and has shown me nothing to show this team has any positive direction going forward. IT LOOKS LIKE THE SAME MINDLESS EFFORTS WE WERE GETTIGN OUT OF BYLSMA, AND HOUSLEY COACHED TEAMS.  Not sure if Kruger is any better. I thought his strong suit was motivating players. PFFFFF they haven't looked motivated to me at all. I think O'rielly had it right he lost his love of the game and i think 90% of this roster has too. Luckily for him he said it publicly and got out. I don't think we have enough talent to play for the cup but, as a fan, id like to see my team play like they actually wan tot be at the rink. A lot of us would love to be doing what they are doing instead of our crap jobs.

that's all for now. I feel a little better after venting but still probably wont bother turning the game on tonight. Happy Thanksgiving all!!

It looks like (and is) a terrible trade.  Let’s see what the first becomes.  I’m also not going to give up on a 21 year old former first round pick who has that kind of a shot.  Tage obviously has some shortfalls but because some of these young guys tear up the nhl from day 1 I think we sometimes forget that developing a player takes several years and most start hitting their prime around 24. That’s still 3 years away.  Just pointing out that due to the circumstances of the trade (and beyond Tage control) he is a whipping boy.  I still think he’s an nhl player with some upside.  Who knows how much but I just hate how everyone’s writing him off already.

Does Tage remind anyone of Steve Bernier. That's who I see every time I watch him play. Seems like that sort of trade for me

Well then, you have a lot more faith in the acumen of a GM who has iced two consecutive terrible teams while actually trying to win. Putting aside the ROR trade as a whole, Botterill's record as GM suggests he's bad at his job. Maybe it's been a string of bad luck and circumstances out of his control, but I certainly don't see any reason to just trust him.

Honestly I couldn't agree with you more. I honestly feel he is a bad Gm. Id hate to switch now but I think if he blows this offseason he may need to go

  10. Me either.

The Housley hire I do agree looks questionable, but let's be fair: Murray left JBot with an absolute MESS. I would allow this season to play out and even the 2019 off season before throwing too many stones at Botterill.

We needed this GM when Eichel was drafted, and now we have him and we are frustrated and impatient I get that completely.

unfortunately I think he was left with Murrays mess but is making his own mess now

  11. Who is saying actively pushed for Tage Thompson?  He may have been pushing for Thomas or Parayko and the Blues wouldn't budge.

I get it though.  I would have loved to hear Parayko's name.  But I honestly believe Bots did the best he could, and to grill him otherwise isn't right.  The keys to this are the two first round picks.  Sobotka and Berglund are additional assets that are still productive NHL players and are better than the crap we have floating around our bottom six.

we got 1 first round pick that is lottery protected and a 2nd in 3 years. People think he pushed for Tage which I can see because he played NCAA hockey. We all know how Bobblehead feels about college hockey players
