I can suffer another six months if need be to get this thing right.

I'm certainly fed up with PH and some of his decisions. I might seriously lose it if he utters the phrase "desired result" one more time.

However, I need them to get it right. If that takes to December of next year, so be it. I don't want to be having this same discussion in two/three years about coach X.

I want to be discussing who we might face in the first round, or if we will have home ice advantage around this time next year.

  2. Next game I want Eichel on a 2 on 1 to look off the pass, shift into a gear only he has and backhand forehand backhand goal.

One thing I noticed, several times, was our guys trying to make the extra pass through the middle. It hitting legs and getting cleared. TB did an excellent job of tying up and clearing junk in front of their net.

The past few games we have had excellent luck scoring on big rebounds on low hard cross net shots to some one crashing the net. Those shots weren't there tonight.

    Our last power play was...lackluster.

Disappointed that we lost but we didn't play like the last place team of last year.

  3. If dahlin had buried that chance after dancing through the other team instead of hitting the crossbar the other night.

Alas, Tage's rocket and Risto leaving Burns' jock at the top of circle are the front runners for me.

Mitts SO goal where he is smiling the whole damn time is the special category winner.

Risto's cellies are a thing of beauty.

    My game notes:

    - Other than the GTG, Hutton played another excellent game.- Speaking of the GTG, that was exactly the kind of late-game softie that Lehner habitually gave up last year.  This year, of course, the team has the mental toughness to come back from that kind of setback..

I don't know if that was a soft goal. Unfortunate for sure but he saw the play behind the net and picked a post, unfortunately it was the wrong one and he couldn't get back fast enough. Pick the right post or get some help from the d slowing that player down and he makes that save.

The soft goals that lehner let in were almost always soft wristers or snap shots from a guy coming down the wing. Our D guy would play the pass and leave Lehner for the shot and whoops back of the net.

Now 100% I agree with the mentality, not just with the net minders but with the team. That 2nd Sharks goal would have instantly visibly demoralized the team. This year and especially on this stretch they seem to get...fiesty is the best word I can come up with. They know they can score and they did generate 2-3 chances when the game was 2-2.

    Cardiac kids for sure.

  5. Tage looks better and better each game. I'll admit I was down on him when he was quiet and Erod was a healthy scratch. Turnovers and a step behind.

His hands and his size are proving to be NHL level, forget about his shot and it's his precision skating that seems to improve each game.

I keep noticing him gaining and maintaining extended zone time, which is exactly what we need from him. Throw in the odd highlight reel "ovie's wheelhouse" goal and that's solid!

  6. This post game is rough. In the best way. #cancersucks

I absolutely hate 2-0 leads, I'm just starting to shake years of ingrained "because buffalo"

    This is awesome!

These guys are good, scary good. -chills

Actually, he's tied along w/ about 16 other guys for 26th in points.  And w/ 1 more point to date, he'd be top 20.  He'll be fine.

And MacKinnon had a rough outing as well last night in Calgary.  He was a -3, only won about 44% of his faceoffs and didn't make the scoresheet.  His team gave up a 4-2 3rd period lead, went on to trail 4-6, fought back to 5-6 w/ an empty net & then he shot wide w/ about 35 seconds left & 1/2 the net available.  Is that loss is on Nate because he didn't will the team to a win?

    Yes, absolutely. /sarcasm

Until Jack, Skinner and Pomm get help it's a mute point. You know what makes a superstar better... having secondary scoring behind him. Oilers have 16 goals from their top line and 20 goals scored by people not McDavid or McDavid linemates (Cagguila and R N-H).

The Sabres have 17 from Jack, Skinner, Pomm and 12 from everyone else.

The scary thing is those numbers are low and I've noticed the D contributing more this season than in recent memory. Our 4-9 forwards are bad, and we're sitting one that seemed promising (Erod).

  8. I actually liked Jack on the kill the other day. He is quick and had the reach to disrupt players and if he ever gets it past the other team there is a good chance for a shorty. I think it was because Sobotka had taken the penalty.

Is it a solution? absolutely not, but it was a interesting thing to see.

Our first line PP was 46% over the last three games and is 48% on the season, falls to 28% and 16% for the second line*. I don't think Okposo is the problem, we need to get improve that second line. With that said, I don't like KO on the PP.
