    It was frustrating hearing the chants and seeing the large leaf population in the lower bowl. felt like an away game when their goal cheers were much louder than the home team, minus the horns and music of course.

    Was anyone at the game last night that can comment on what it was like being there?

     

    Is our lower bowl also corporate or just not die-hard enough STH's that prefer to sell em off?

    Is anyone aware of tactics other teams are using to prevent this? I'd love to see a no-resale policy but i know thats an unachievable utopian dream.

    I live about 4 hours east, but grew up in Akron/Middleport, so occasionally I click the odd article but generally just the sports portion in terms of this discussion.

    Is the amount of content roughly the same between them? I'm gathering the atheletic is the better option, but I'll admit Wildcard's post does strike a point, I prefer a lot of content but at the same time want to throw my monitor through a wall when I start reading one of those bleacher report articles. Hoping the athletics pieces are not all large in depth pieces.

    I see athletic does a trial but it doesn't look like that is an option for the $29.99 1st year deal.

    Has the news improved recently since the turnover? didn't some of the writers that were less popular end up at athletic?

    I appreciate everyone's time on the matter, some of the analysis and predictions you guys have is better than most of the writing i find anyways, but it only comes in one sentence at a time ?

  5. OT -- High Praise for Buffalo Pizza

    I lurk these forums, participating once every few years when a topic stirs such passion in me I cannot idly watch my viewpoint go unrepresented.

    While my viewpoint for this issue is indeed well represented in this instance, I still felt it necessary to state that Buffalo style pizza has ruined me.

    Every pizza I even consider elsewhere is met with the fears that it will be no where near as good as buffalo pizza.

    Every time I am bitterly disappointed and find myself longing for another slice of the delicious nirvana of a middle of a buffalo sheet.

    When I travel to the area I over-purchase and freeze it, however it has a half life of about 2 days.

    While I've read a few but not all pages, I have not seen my usual haunt mentioned, Picasso's on Transit. Convenient on/off the thruway for my travels.

    As much as I love my family in the area, I suppose I would be torn if I was asked whether I was visiting for the pizza or the family.

    I have often opined that Buffalo pizza is indeed worthy of being enshrined as a true regional specialty and I am glad that there is a movement afoot to affirm that.

    I hope and pray that some day that a "buffalo pizza joint" may be as common in our national travels as chicago, NY or even california style pizza.

    Bless you buffalo pizza and those that support it.

    Anybody attending that can post observations? Nylander? Bailey? Fasching?

    Golotov has alot of skill. Tons of potential, course this is a non contact dev camp. Bailey and baptiste are on abother level of course, camp ivite goalie Samuels made some strong saves. Chatfield is a beast, good hustle. Asplund is a steal as advertised. Gm tm is here, judging us all with his beady ice stares

    Guhle is launching rocket wrist shots, looks good to go, dupuy lasered a no look backhand top corner. Johanson is doing great

    Sabres.com front page click on the side link that says "Blue And Gold" tickets or something like that.

    3v3 is 10 bucks

    Tickets are 20, total for 2 with digital delivery was $51.30 after "processing" "convience" and "delivery" charges.

     

    Whatever happened to "If I want more money I'll drill another well"??

    There are so many components to the Martin trade that are still rolling I hope it never ends, I've been watching it over the last 10 or so years. There has been a few images of it made over the years, its fascinating to watch the ripple effect of one moment. Some of the biggest and most famous/infamous names in sabres history are involved. 

     

    A team still pulling dividends from a trade in 1981 is really a testament to asset management and some good luck

     

    Rick Martin played 5 games for the kings after the trade.

    I've been trying to dig up some more info on the dev camp, looks like few to no details are out as of yet. They say "early July" but given that the camp starts on the 6th and the 4th is kind of a major holiday that is a very compact timeline for giving notice.

     

    I'm hoping to head up for a few days of it, esp since I missed the draft ><

     

    Anyone else planning on it?

    Poll results so far are pretty intriguing, much less concise than I had pictured.

     

    I personally am hoping to keep him, go for a rebound year and see if he could be the thorn-in-the-side 30 goal scorer that takes advantage of the fact that the opposition is focused on Jack, Ryan, Sam Etc.

     

    Oh yeah and we have that Kane guy too.

    Megathreads have their place as long as the topic is relatively straightforward and narrow in scope, but I can't stand the ones that involve the entire rest of the league like the trade speculation one going on. too many voices on too many topics to keep straight.

  22. Minnesota Wild buys out Thomas Vanek's contract

    Several Sources, including WGR citing a Minnie newspaper writer are claiming Vanek is being bought out. 

     

    Sad to watch the downfall of a man that could decide to be a superstar any night he wanted, though for some reason rarely wanted.

     

    I doubt anyone wants another kick at the vanek can, but he's got to be pretty butt-hurt as the rumors and dreaming that vanek was going to minnesota are now looking to have lasted longer than vanek's actual tenure in minnesota.

     

    wonder where he goes now that he got dejected from his true love.

  23. Concerts you plan to attend this year

    Yeah, I'm likely going to go to Ben Harper + Trombone Shorty at Ommegang on July 9.  Never been before.  Website makes it look like the brewery is NOT open for tours/tastings on concert days though :(

     

    Also going to Weezer at CMAC tomorrow night.

     

    Lynyrd Skynyrd is playing at Artpark again on a Tuesday in July.  I will probably try for that as well.

     

    Its a fantastic place to go for a concert. I would be shocked if the giftshop/store/brewpub is not open.

     

    I've been there for cake (ye, the group) a few years ago and for a few special events like the game of thrones dinner and charity auctions

     

    The brewery itself would be chaos if they tried to give tours on a day like that.

     

    Its a hipster zoo. seriously. They come down from the hills and up from the city, many camp overnight both day before and night after.
