Seems like I should get at least one post into a Laffs game thread...
-
Hello all...back to lurk and occasionally post now that the season is about to start. Feeling a bit of BSFS (Buffalo Sports Fan Syndrome) this morning with the debut of Matthews, McDavid's start, and Eich's injury...but who knows what will happen.
My pick for surprise player of the year is Lehner.
Go Sabres!
-
Oh please please please make this come true.
-
Maybe it'll grow on me but that song does nothing for me. And.... I think it was the goal that "really gets the crowd going." Any upbeat dittie should be able to extend it out another 20 or 30 seconds.
Of course the goal got the crowd started...but there was an indisputable roar when the song began. Folks really enjoyed it.
-
Man, that place sounded loud last night. Really unfortunate that another new rule intended to eliminate mistakes resulted in sapping all of the Sabres' momentum -- regardless of whether or not it was the right call.
So happy for Eichel he got the first one out of the way quickly.
Absolutely digging the goal song -- really gets the crowd going. It's getting tons of national press as well (in a good way).
The new era has begun! There will be lots of bumps in the road, but they're headed in the right direction.

Lots of positive national press over the goal song. Really seems to be a hit.

Fun hockey returns tonight...the long, dark nightmare is over.
Let's go, Buffalo!

635-1 for HD to be exact.
All of the 635 channels are HD.
I'm still confused by the fact that you can setup some kind of fancy search to record these games. I can't even find the channel I'm looking for half the time yet, let alone pull off something like this.
Shrader, it's easy...just type the search "AALL SABRES CCHANS 635" in the "smart search" section and record the series, and you'll get all of the MSG games recorded (in HD).
-
TSW on our sister site is a s***show right now...very glad hockey is about to start.
-
FYI -- MSG has changed to 635 on DTV now...so if you have a search set up to record 638 I suggest you change it.
-
Quick update for those interested -- I don't think you'll be happy trying to mark the Sabres as a "favorite" and then relying upon the DVR to find the games...I checked my "to do" list of recordings last night and while the first couple of regular season games were on there, it was going to record the other teams' feeds.
The search method linked earlier definitely seems like the way to go to ensure the MSG feed (for those games not on nationally).

I believe that this may be the thread that you were thinking of:
http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/21550-auto-recording-the-sabres-on-directv/?hl=cchan
Fantastic -- thank you!
Also -- I did find a way to mark the Sabres as a "favorite" as noted above but it's anybody's guess if all the games will get recorded. I may try that way on one of my DVRs and the smart search script on another, to see which works most reliably.
-
Hey all --
A number of years ago somebody came up with what I think was a boolean script for DirecTV subscribers to make sure every Sabres game was recorded whether it was on MSG, Center Ice, NHLN, NBCSN, or NBC.
Does anyone recall this, and more importantly, does anyone have it to post?
I'll admit I haven't sat down in front of my DVR to see if the enhanced search options now available make such a script unnecessary, but I will do that tonight.
Thanks!

That was when, and only when, McDavid was hurt. Once he came back and went on a tear those discussion disappeared in an instant. McDavid is the better prospect.
Like I said, I agree with you -- was just pointing out that some other discussions were ongoing during the season.
-
I'm sorry but the people fearing the Oil taking Eichel have just fallen into the trap of being a fan. It's okay. I love Eichel, too. But McDavid is the better prospect. Period. The Oil are taking McDavid. If we were picking one we would be taking McDavid.
There's nothing to see here. We win by getting Eichel. But we still lost the lottery and lost out on the better prospect. We've talked ourselves into thinking otherwise, but that's how fans work. It's okay. But it's wrong to suddenly think that Eichel is better purely because we started paying more attention to him. If anything it should just reassure everybody that securing last place was the best route for this team.
I agree with everything you said, but even during the season at one point there was some legitimate discussion about just how much of a difference there was between McD and Eich (i.e., not much). Not by Buffalo fans -- in the media.
-
For what its worth Don Cherry just weighed in and said if Buffalo fires Ted Nolan after what he has gone through this year with the lack of talent etc. the hockey gods will never forgive. lol
It's worth the lint in my belly button.
-
With Nolan, you're talking about a guy who freely admits he "doesn't care much" for analytics and statistics.
No thank you.
-
I'll tell you one thing, I won't pay to watch a Nolan coached team next year.
Not doing it.
Ditto. And I don't think we'll have to.
-
I've stayed away from this board for a long time, not wanting to get in the fray of the tank vs. anti-tank crowd. It is a wonderful relief to know that once again all Sabres fans are reunited with a common purpose.

:o :( Kick that cancer to the top shelf where momma hides the cookies, RJ.
-
Wow, nice work. Helps a "football guy" like me get a quick glimpse at what's going on with the talent pipeline. Much appreciated!
-
Pegula could be paying both very soon.
El Pegual needs to have a 1/2 Sabres - 1/2 Bills tie made for him, so he'll never need to think about what he's wearing before press conferences.
-
Because the new GM will have a big say on who's permanent.
As he should. Can't castrate the new GM by telling him who his coach is before he walks in the door.

Hi gang -- haven't been around in a while; spend most of my time on that "other" Buffalo team's site. There's a running thread regarding how many of us have been able to call DirecTV and get Sunday Ticket for free or with significant reductions. Since the NFL package carries a much higher visibility than the NHL, and DirecTV makes ST a primary component of their advertising, I was wondering if folks have had similar luck working with them on Center Ice. I just noticed the first charge on my account.
If I call on my own before reading any responses here, I'll update the thread.
Thanks!
Edit -- holy $%#, this was my 666th post.
Carter Hutton signs with Sabres — $2.75MM x 3 years

Seems like an extremely reasonable contract for a good, high character keeper who will allow Ullmark to ease into the #1 role and can actually help the team win games.
So glad neck tattoo is gone.
