  1. Baseball has its own rules of retaliation, as does every sport. I like the scrums after hockey, I like the emotion instead of robots. That emotion creates rivalries, a-la Claude Lemieux

There are no more Claude Lemieux's.  A player that brought it mostly during play.  Now we have idiots like Kesler, Kadri, and Marchard who are only tough after the whistle when they can just skate to the bench.

You guys want to make this into the NFL? Because this is how you make it into the NFL

The NFL would be better if the players got to fight and cheap shot each other?

  2. I have two kids 13 and 10 that play.   I also play.

I have no problem with contact after the whistle.   It's an emotional game, we're wearing full body armor.

It's much better to let off a little steam after the whistle rather than attempting to injure somebody during game play.

That's exactly the point.  Why do you need to let off steam at all.  Take it out on the puck.  Skate harder.  Why take out frustration on the other team illegally.  If someone gets tagged out in a baseball game, is it ok for them to attack the catcher because he is wearing protective gear?  I don't understand why when you use this circumstance in all other sports is sounds completely ridiculous but in hockey it is OK.

  3. Yeah I haven't been a fan of that either. Usually because the Sabres were always on the receiving end of it. Doesn't seem so much lately. They really don't penalize that in youth hockey? What age group are you talking?

All ages.  The NHL stuff seems completely unnecessary as the newer players are programmed not to respond, because the retaliation draws the only penalty.  The kids really irk me.  My child plays peewee level now.  Here you get your talented driven players that just play the game  Then many of the ones not at that level seem to give up trying between whistles and just goon it up after, as seen on TV.

  4. Just wait until skaters see an exponential increase in the number of pucks to the face...

There is ways to protect this. However this brings up another point for.  If players are scared of getting hit in the grill, they will either find new ways to block shots instead of throwing themselves all over the ice.  It would be necessary for the d to approach closer to the puck for the body block.  This would open up more space down low for creativity and also keep the defensive wingers out into quick offensive positions.  And once again you will have to be brave to go to the front of the net.  look at the space and chaos Zhitnik would create.

  5. I will always be in favor for taller nets.  The net does not to be larger in any other way. A taller net takes up no more ice space.  Goalies are already pretty much maximum size, so this only needs to be a one time adjustment.  A taller net would force goalies to play on their feet more often.  Goalies now can just back up into the net on their knees and pretty much take up from ice to top bar.  With the adjusted net now if a goalie goes down too early the top will be mostly open especially from farther distances.

  6. I can not believe we could not get more. The Caps are a very good team and will continue to be.  That third rounder is going to most likely be a bottom 5 pick.  Pick 110-120.  Can you even expect to get an NHL player out of that?  I love Mike Weber's game.  I like him as a Sabre, but if this team is serious then he needed to move on for something.  If only the word "conditional" was in there somehow, it would make this more interesting.

  7. The problem with scoring especially in the playoffs is that teams play too defensive of a style.  Instead going out and taking control of the game with offensive pressure, the league strategy is to now just wait for the other team to make a mistake. That's why a 2-0 lead in a game is the un-safest.  The losing team now has to go balls out to win.  Until we get exciting offensive players to go out and outscore the other team, instead of being the world's best back-checkers, the size of the net or equipment doesn't matter.

  8. I was pretty excited for the women's hockey game, as I have two daughters who play hockey. I turned the game on the DVR, sat down with my kids ( who were already reluctant to watch), herd Emerick and McGuire, and said F*** this. Thanks NBC for ruining women's hockey. I wonder how many times Pierre compared a 5'6 150 woman to a completely irrelavant NHL player. God I hope these clowns only do the US games for the men, then at least I can watch a couple of games without punching myself in the head.

  9. This is my best case scenario for the next two years.

Finish this tears tank job. Pray for the Islanders continue as they are or worse (currently 4th from last). Persuade the Isles to keep the high top ten pick giving the Sabres the Islanders 2015 first round pick regardless of place. Forget about the Sabres finishing last for a second year. Bring in the hope and cheer, because the Islanders will always have a chance of finishing last, especially in that division they are in.

  10. Since about the time Hodgson went down, Ennis has been playing like an animal. If Ennis continues to play this way when Hodgson comes back, I think he will have alot fewer eyes on him. Hopefully with the reduced pressure his numbers will start to improve. Oh yeah and f*** Zack Kassian.
