    Lydman will give the puck away at least once on a weak pass though. I'll predict that.

     

     

    Haha, and I'll add to that prediction that the pass will be right in front of our own net.

     

    I think Buffalo will come out flying tonight and in fact play a similar game to the one that worked for them on Wednesday....be aggressive and not timid against this team. We didn't give them much respect last game, and although it sucked that we had to come back bascially 3 times in the game, it worked out in the end. I say 4-3 Buffalo

    True, but we didn't look as "lost" this game, if that makes any sense....... Goals were a little strange tonite.....

     

     

    I agree, this game was a little different but still obviously not enough of a complete effort. It did get interesting at the end but it's a 60-minute game. I think we are showing signs of breaking out of the "slump," but Ottawa is coming up and they could quickly put things back into a tailspin

    NO MORE FLOATING tonight. I want to see all of the players playing with emotion and desire. There have been way too many passengers the last 2 games. This is a huge test to see what this team is made of, they better come with it tonight because they're up against an extremely talented club.

     

    P.S. can we confirm the Novotny callup?

    Yes, and they'll get Hecht and Connolly and Ruff back in that month. I wonder if this game would be different with Lindy behind the bench.

     

    That's what I was thinking about too, but certainly there is enough leadership on that team to handle things and get the team focused enough for a better effort than a 5-0 loss.....right?

    I wouldn't be all that worried except for Briere's comments after the Ottawa game about lockerroom "issues" that have to be resolved before the playoffs. It's almost like he was waiting to say that, and couldn't, obviously, say it when the team was winning. I don't know, I'm probably nuts.

     

     

    THAT worries me more than losing 2 straight....IF we lose this one ;)

     

     

    See this is what I am talking about...Kotalik just got hammered...he is one of our skill guys...so why not run Kovalchuk? This team is scared to play tough!

    I don't think it was excessive at all. The hit on Mellanby was gratuitous and was obviously calculated to start a fight; Mellanby's reaction was pretty tame considering the circumstances.

     

    The first penalty (holding) was simple rough stuff; the second was the dumbest thing I've seen a Sabre do in a long time. Why Paille isn't with the team right now is a mystery to me.

     

     

    I don't see anything wrong with what Peters did....the dumbest thing you've seen in a long time??? Get a tape of the Ottawa game or the first 2 periods of this one, and watch every defenseman on our team...that's the dumbest I have seen in a long time

    Well since everyone is apparently watching law and order, I will use this chance to rant...I am so sick of the "new" NHL officiating....the referees do everything they possibly can to stop physical play...hitting and fighting are part of hockey, and it really pisses me off when you see what happened to Peters...he barely touched somebody and they give him 2 for roughing, 2 for somethin else, and a 10 minute misconduct....FOR WHAT?? That is a complete disgrace. Anyone else agree?

     

    So basically Campbell and Bettman and the NHL are encouraging just going and attacking someone....he only would have gotten a few more PIMs anyway, so why not? its better than getting all that just for talking

    I agree that you have to be careful of going nuts over 2 bad games, but at the same time you can't just sluff it off either. I think the most troubling thing right now, as someone else said, is not the fact that we're losing, but how we're losing....not much desire or intensity out there, and 8 shots on goal...that's an alarming stat

    So much for us getting respect from the Power Rankings. I bet we take a big drop this week.

     

    Anyone notice that this is by far the worst ice we have seen all year? How many guys have fallen flat on their faces or had the puck jump over their stick.

     

     

    Yea, and I think the officiating has been piss poor for the 2nd game in a row...not that I ever think its particually great, but its been especially bad the last 2 games

    On the radio they said Tallinder started bitchin to the ref while the puck was still in play.

     

     

    That is, in fact, what happened...and the replay proved he had a case, but still you have to pay attention to the game. Can't blame him alone for the goal, because "Loodman" got caught up ice YET AGAIN. What is with our defense getting caught pinching the last 2 games. This game is eerily similar to the Ottawa game. I don't understand why we are playing uninspired, just plain stupid hockey. (although I think Kalinin has looked good tonight)

     

     

     

    Holy crap, Vanek just got flattened from behind...what a cheap shot

     

     

    By the way, I didnt read all the posts on this thread but did anyone catch Kovalchuk b*tching at Briere earlier in the game??? I absolutely can't stand that guy, he has no respect for the game

    The thing that bothers me the most right now is I don't see anyone on the Sabres playing with fire or emotion...it looks careless out there to me, and the score reflects that....Neil is running just about everyone out there, and no one is answering back. I wanna see some fire and emotion because this team looks like they are scared right now

     

     

    EDIT: everyone looks scared except for Briere....he is the only one that showed up tonight IMO, and he always does because he gives 110%

    One of the reasons we have so many shots against us is our defense keeps getting caught pinching and Ottawa in turn keeps getting odd man rushes....funny that our defense keeps getting caught pinching considering we had 5 shots on goal...it's obviously not helping

     

    Ruff will be giving everyone a good talkin to. I guarentee we get it together in this game, we come alive in the 2nd and 3rd periods

    Am I biased or are the penalties a bit inconsistent. Roy gets tripped up, and is on the ice with the stick between his legs, no call. Briere hooks Chara a little bit, penalty. I am biased though, so anyone else seeing this?

     

     

    I agreed until they called Heatley for "hooking"...I thought that was as weak as they come. But they are still inconsistent, I mean with the scrum earlier...Eaves started it and somehow he gets away without a penalty???
