Grew up in Rochester when it was an O's farm and have been a Baltimore fan all my life, despite the past decades of irrelevance.
Saw many stars come through Silver Stadium: Don Baylor, Al Bumbry, Mike Flanagan, Mike Boddicker, Mike Mussina, Eddie Murray, Doug DeCinces, Bobby Grich...and this Ripken kid, who in the summer of 1981, when there was no major league baseball, captivated a town and the much of the baseball world. We knew he was a HOFer in waiting.
Rochester actually left Baltimore in the early 2000s, which is not common with minor league teams. The Red Wings were just tired of Peter Angelos' shenanigans, and sadly, said goodbye to the Orioles after 40 years of affiliation.
Now, the Orioles farm system is rated among the best, and I'm very glad to see that. I'm hoping the Angelos family will soon sell the franchise, as they have been a big part of the team's decline...with a change in ownership and a strong farm system, maybe better days are ahead.

I love the NHL but it's almost becoming unwatchable...ads on the boards, glass, ice, jerseys, helmets, even the scorebug.
Go back and look at a game in the early 80s and see how clean and uninhibited it looks.
I get the need for revenue, but good gawd, ENOUGH!

We finally got some good Buffalo pizza down here in Northern Virginia, baddpizza. Wings are top-notch also.

Thanks, saw that one, but I'm looking for one that says "Buffalo" hockey...like the ones available at purehockey.com.

I'm not, but I travel there occasionally for business. The best place I've found to watch a game is Crystal City Sports Pub. Do you know of any better places? (especially close to the Metro?)
In Old Town Alexandria, about a mile from Metro, there's Bugsy's, owned by former NHLer Brian Watson. Haven't been there in several years, but it's a good hockey bar.

Saw the style linked below but they don't have Sabres in stock...hunted around the interwebs but no dice. Anybody seen this style in stores in WNY?

I don't recall anything about Hutton being banged up recently so maybe he's got the flu or something.
Hopefully it's an illness like you said and not an injury.

Does anyone know where I can get my Vanek name plate changed? Dave and Adams doesn’t do it anymore.
Did you ever settle on a place to do this? I'm looking to do the same with another player/jersey.

The hiring process, regardless of the size of the company or association, is so flawed today that it seems many more people are "underemployed" than ever before. It's a nerve-wracking, dehumanizing process, as you've spelled out. I wish you nothing but success going forward in your quest.

Hmm...will need to clean up my act. Always referred to the Maple Leafs in the same fashion as Bostonians refer to Bucky Dent.

I've been to many at the Aud but strangely have not been to HSBC or Key Bank or Marine Midland, whatever bank it's called today. It was built after I moved from the area.

There's an additional veterans discount also, I believe.

At least Delaware North issued a statement.

"Signs on the doors show the arena doesn't have its liquor license yet."
Ok, this is getting serious now...
In my day, we'd take the bus from the lake up to the War Memorial for $1. Pay $2 for a corner seat, catch the Lake bus back at Four Corners, where the February winds whipped something awful. We had a buck left to get a dog and a pop at the game. For $5, we saw great hockey with Dick Gamble, Red Armstrong and and Don Cherry on the ice.
End of rant.

Thanks for the cry...

They were showing lots of sabres fans on Versus in the third.
But the biggest homer call was in the third period when the "Let's go Buffalo" was
audible on the broadcast. Emmerick said, "Let's go Devils is the Chant".
NIcely done anyway.
Isn't Emmerick the Devils' play-by-play guy? Maybe he forgot he was doing the Vs. game last night!
They also talked alot about the scarcity of the Slug jerseys...rambling for awhile that you can forget about getting one for Christmas and it may be the playoffs before you can get 'em.
-
"Hell of a team they got there. Just wish the fans were more deserving."
For some strange reason, this just makes me laugh...

Not only do I remember that, but I also remember playoffs starting in early April and finishing before Memorial Day...what a concept. <_<
