I'm sure that went into Darcy's thinking. He may want to stick around and play with a sh&tty team for 5 years. And since he's fairly local, maybe his relatives will buy tickets. They should have great seats to choose from!!
lol..+2 exactly! a perfect way for a 30 goal player in his prime to finish a career.. in the middle of a six year going nowhere rebuild . Now what happens to OTT and others.Does Hoff pick up the phone and ask to go?
Thank you Darcy for not being able to find OR DEVELOP a true one center OR a power forward for Vanek to play with, not to mention a shut down d pairing or a second and third line of scoring OVER THE PAST SEVEN SEASONS.
-
U do realize they will suck next year as well! These youngsters still need developing. See Edmonton. 3-4 years at least.
Odds on them becoming significant pieces in the NHL?

Brunner with two goals tonight for NJD....Two more than our boys scored tonight. ;)
could have signed him cheap..but who needs skill and speed

Kessel gets 8 for 8!: @DarrenDreger Kessel deal is 8 years, aprox $8 mil per. Believed to include ltd no-trade. It's not complete..not signed, but announcement expected today.
a little lower than I would have guessed but in the range per and longer than expected,

Angry Tim is back?
Expectation is that Tim Thomas will join Florida Panthers on PTO...
never seemed angry to me..

Funny with all of this Staffbash going on in regards to last nights game and just in general Brian Duff said he had a noteworthy performance. I never watched the game so I won't judge him on his past. Anyone have any thoughts as to what Duff may have noticed that all of you missed ?
he played well
-
 that could be fun actually. Report old signings. A little history is always good.
Do you know what he signed his last contract for.. you need to laugh? take a look... a guy with....700+ goals?
-
This literally happened two months ago.
I know...lol.. a very slow day here... I should have used the phil esposito signing!
-
D ROY SIGNED?
one year 4 mil with the BLUES.. Gonna get him a cup!...lol

Terry won't let Cody wear a nameplate on his jersey that says "first-line centre."
Cody has issues with fracking.
a wacko anti fracking environmentalist as the first line center on our AHL quality team? I knew something was up when he was seen eating dinner with Andrew Cuomo, Jim Salinger and Al Gore. I bet Cody is pro carbon credit and anti pipeline too.

I don't think Luongo is a baby at all. The way Gillis handled the team is appalling. He basically told Luongo he was going for a year and a half and then traded the other guy. If this was Darcy you guys would not be calling the player out but calling for Darcy's head (more so). And to those who think that he would not find another job are idiotic. Why would he not get another job? He is still a really decent player.
I'm slightly concerned about this boards understanding of goaltenders
there are no goaltenders here ..lol
-
Hayell yes.
Here's the shot across the bow: Lindy will do better in Dallas than Vanek does in wherever his next destination is.
AND Lindy, who stayed in Buffalo until they carried him out on his shield, is a much more loyal guy than Vanek, who bailed after ONE year in Buffalo, then pocketed our $50MM, and is now looking to bail again to the highest bidder.
Hmmmmmmm?
I think you wanted to say Myers. lol
Oh my god..hockey players taking the highest offer and owners and their coaches treating them like meat. oh my! dogs and cats living together, chickens falling from the sky!

I hate A-Rod but after the guy threw inside on 3 other pitches we all got the point... Dempster should have been tossed from the game. Sorry but as much of dick as I think A-Rod is letting Dumpster get away with that is kinda sad.
Like manny and ortiz never liked the needle or flunked a roid test (along with probably half the other guys on that team during that era).

I understand that the frustration with Stafford, however, if you dismiss last season, he has been as productive as any second line winger in the league.
If Darcy traded today for a 27 year old winger who in his last full season scored 20 goals and had over 100 hits and was going to be paid 2nd or 3rd line money for two more years a lot of people on this board would be singing DR!s praises.

Sabres take Fucale.
that would be the icing on the cake..lol burn the 16 on a 100-1 shot ..lol
-
If he's still there at 16 and they pass again, I'll burn my jersey.
(I'm only willing to say that because they don't wear these thirds anymore)
you were saying..lol
-
-
no 5 for us
-
Enough with Fucale-- If this team didn't have any quality goaltenders in the pipeline I would say yes but who in the hell is going to score and play defense!
I am dying to wait until fucale hits his prime to see him play... I do wonder if the Sabres will still be in Buffalo in 2020 when that happens.
-
Derek Roy? Jason Pominville?
Just kidding. Regehr's playing well.
You could name about five or six if you really tried.. . .lol... Regehr was smart ...he realized early he had made a mistake. He was the only true first pair defender we had
-
It would be nice to see Stafford in the playoffs next season on a team, not named the Sabres, and contributing, at critical times, like so many other x Sabres.
-
Hodgson is still a defensive liability. He's young but from what I've seen at times he's a turnover machine. I hope as he develops that aspect of his game disappears. If not ?
Nobody else seems to notice that..other than us.
It was kind like following Myers play in the d zone last year and wondering what are people here watching?
-
Jeez. Kinda grouchy today, eh?
Seriously, don't you think Hodgy has justified his spot on that line?
Honestly.. it is a toss up.. But i would say Ennis has the edge center wise (better vision, speed, scoring potential and hands).Cody is not playing with the same efficiency he once did early in the year..That line lives and dies on Vanek touches in the o zone. He is the guy that makes it happen. Cody seems to have lost sight of his mission in the last seven or so games. He seems to be taking more shots, losing the zone, holdiong the puck more and longer and playing with his head down (he shoots like a girl/ something to work on in the off season).. I may be wrong , but i think the chart stats would prove me correct. My guess is Vanek and Pom touches in scoring position are way down imo. (some of that is attributable to defensive schemes granted/ )
In summary the sabres have two second/third line centers . I do not see Cody being more than a two at best when he hits his stride.(it will be two or three more years) He is not a first line pp guy either (nor is Myers)..He is one of only two options the Sabres have for the 1 line. That is the Sabres fault. six years now of no one center..Can you imagine what Pom and Vaneks numbers would have looked like with a real playmaking center. Cody is not necessarily the best choice to center that line but he is one of the best two choices available..That defect is managements fault. That line will makes his numbers look better than playing on an average three line for some other team.
-
An update on Kassian -- he's been dropped down to the Canucks' 3rd line, has 1 point (an assist) in his last 6 games and had 11 minutes of ice time last night.
I wish the kid well and do not post the above in the spirit of knocking him because he's no longer a Sabre. Just pointing out that after a hot start, he's cooled off and hasn't yet become another Cam Neely. Perhaps DR wasn't an idiot for swapping him for Hodgson -- who continues to play very well on the Sabres' top line.
The jury will be out for a while on this one.
And what would Cody look like on the Sabres third or fourth line?.. What would his numbers look like without a Vanek and Pom on his wings? On what other team would he be permitted to center a Vanek and Pom quality line? Answer...no other team. He will make more money here when he resigns because playing with Vanek and Pom will dramatically inflate his value, numbers wise. Assuming they can resign them both.( personally i hope Pom and Vanek are smart enough to leave this mess for greener pastures.)

Note: hard to put a guy with a degree in mechanical engineering and sophisticated sense of humor, in the goon category. Think of him as a hard punching geek that other players in the NHL give a lot of space to.
