Hey, preachin to the choir, there. I mean, yeah, he had an amazing first few weeks on the top line and then he drank some bad Kool Aid and his game left him and since then he's been another ghost in Blue and Gold.I think McC is still on the shelf, but I just wanted to point out that we have plenty of guys to fill that 4th line winger slot without having to waste Adam in that spot. He needs ice time and to succeed in the AHL.
-
Oh if Adam's already back in ROC leave him there, I haven't been paying attention. Ellis obviously goes there then. And I thought McCormick was still hurt, too. Like I said, I've been kinda MIA with the cats, sorry, maybe I should just not post right now LOLWhere does Ellis and McCormick go?
I like the center pairings - i'd like to see Roy on the third line since he is the best defensive center of the three (unless Hodgson is really that much of a 2 way). Keep Adam in ROC to give him some serious ice time and confidence.

bada-BUMP!Kassian is far and away the player I would have rather traded. Myers is a Hodgson-esque prospect. You don't trade those away :nana:
-
Vanek - Ennis - Pominville
Leino - Hodgson - Stafford
Gerbe - Roy - Kaleta
Adam - Szczechura - Boyes

How do we know Kassian isnt the tough guy? He was told to tone it down and learn the finer points of playing wing in the NHL..
So, you're saying Lindy took him aside and told him not to put himself out of position by finishing checks like he has with everybody else in his 15 years here? Please. How do we know that Kassian didn't arrive at FNC and sniff the nice calming gas they pump thru the place and decide he would take his own game out of his game ;)
-
Beat me to it.Over 5'4" :P
Why didn't the coach like him?
Ten bucks, too soft. I'd laugh.
-
OK, so after ample time (one or two shifts, at LEAST :P ) on the 4th line, we can probably expect Hodgson on the 2nd? Maybe they plan on bringing Szczechura up for the 3rd?I brought this up previously, I don't see Lindy taking Roy away from Vanek and Pommers, especially since he's being "productive" and I don't want to see Ennis dropped down or moved back to the wing. I would feel a lot better about this trade if Roy was the one to go and Lindy.
-
So seriously, which of the Sabres' lines does this kid center? He wasn't getting the playing time or opportunities, they say, in Vancouver because he was stuck on the checking line, so does Darcy think Lindy's going to give him a chance at the #2 center role???? The ONLY way that is true is if Lindy thinks that his new "son", derek Roy, is his next checking line center, because no way it's going to be little Ennis.
Roy, aside from his top-line salary, would make the smartest choice to center that shut-down 3rd line, IMO. Anyone else disagree besides korab? :P
-
No, he certainly didn't "develop" into that here. And he had a whole lot of time? But whatever. I'm happy for everyone's who's happy. My 15-year-old cat stopped eating yesterday, so I don't really care about any of this right now.I don't know who is treating Kassian like a bum. I think those of us who really like this deal believe 1 of 2 things (and maybe both): 1-It's harder to find a real center than a power forward, and you have to give something to get something, 2-Kassian isn't the guy we want him to be (Lucic). That's not to say we think he's awful, or going to be a complete bust...just that he isn't the physically dominant intimidator we thought/wanted him to be.
-
And he's going to a team where he can PLAY that role and not have to become this all-around, well-rounded, two-way, system guy with different linemates every ###### shift. Kassian's happy, believe me. And so will be the Canuck fans.I almost feel sorry for the kid. He has only played a handful of NHL games and is now being tauted as Vancouvers answer to the big bad Bruins.

I know, right?? Who's calling Kassian a bum?
-
Exactly what I was thinking. They must have been weighing Kassian against Foligno and Foligno won. NHL.com says the Canuck was in the running for the Calder. Can't be all bad. This is a move that works both now and next year for Buffalo. Kassian has been the guy we all thought would be the big banger but then we've been blasting him for not really doing it. I think that guy is Foligno in the future. The scoring bit remains to be seen.. but hell, for now I'll take it.
It's certainly creative and not something we would have expected from Regier.
I wanteed size and grit, too, but this GM/coach combo likes the finesse game we all knew that. If we suck in two years because everybody is in a cast, maybe we'll get a new GM/coach combo and maybe the next set will like size and grit.
Or maybe this will work. Who knows?
I sure will miss Kassian, though.

Interesting. That whole "Peace Be Upon Him" thing really makes it impossible to use his name in vain, doesn't it? Can't you just hear it?Thank you for the clarification of PBUH. I often forget that many would not know what that stands for.
Actually, Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was "unlettered". Our Imam here in Halifax prefers that term to illiterate, but it means that he could not read or write. That is one of the reasons Allah (God) selected him as one of his messengers. To help refute the assertions that Muhammad (PBUH) wrote the Qur'an.
So, in answer to your question Muhammad (PBUH) was not capable of doing any scholarship on the issue you raised, or any other for that matter. One of the first things revealed was that Allah was revealing the Qur'an to affirm the previous scriptures and to correct the parts of them that had been altered.
"Mohammad Peace Be Upon Him dammit!!!" Got no ring to it whatsoever.

Or at least fill the arena with hot babes selling hot dogs, beer, and instruction manuals for building bird houses....It's mid February and the most popular threads are about books, breasts, hobbies, drinking and eating. Mr. Pegula, I implore you, it's time to clean house.

Fantasy and horror....you mean these boards? You guys are all putting me to shame. I was an avid reader all the way up until college, but between school/work, having 2 jobs for years, and then more school/work, I've had so little free time for reading. :( When I go on vacation I tend to finish (or nearly finish) a book between the outbound and return flights, but vacations are as rare as free time. And I'm afraid my selections are much less sophisticated than most mentioned here, since I primarily stick to sci-fi / fantasy and horror.

What interested me more was how the rest of the team mailed in the rest of the game after seeing Lindy finally lambaste one of their guys. They simply are used to kid gloves and sulk and throw passive aggressive tantrums when given a taste of tough love. And that's Lindy's fault. I LOVE how vocal he's become lately about the "crap play" and "stupid mistakes", and maybe he finally, FINALLY gets it. And maybe he can bring his newfound knowledge on how to effectively lead a bunch of overgrown (and grossly overpaid) children to become champions in a man's game somewhere else. But THESE guys are ruined to it, you have your evidence on tape from that second and third period if you wanna re-watch it.I guess in the argument with Lindy it depends on which side you weigh in on.
If you think Ruff is done as a coach then perhaps you want Stafford yelling back. Perhaps you want Stafford telling Ruff that he sucks and his system is killing the team.
if you think Ruff needs better players then you think Stafford is the problem and needs to go.
If you think they both need to go then it was just pure entertainment to see two guys going at it.
If you think they both need to stay, well.... let's not go there.
I hate Darcy Regier, because this crap goes right over his arrogant, fat head.
Hot garbage. Darcy is the manager of hot trash.
Woops, sorry. And Stafford blows. There.

Sorry for your loss.
I know how difficult it is to deal with the passing of a good friend / family member.
:) Thanks bro.

He needs to go somewhere with an abundance of good bass players.

Thank you for allowing me to!!!It wasn't cited to give strengthen my point, but to refute his that no Sabre decision maker would refuse any forward in trade for Kane. Thanks for chiming in.
-
Usually, one wants to put something at the end of their statement that STRENGTHENS their point of view....You have no love for Vanek - I have no love for Kane. Vanek has been and will continue to be a more productive scorer than Kane, without ever having played with a center of Toews' caliber. Any other forward, I'm all over it, but I wouldn't trade Vanek for Kane.
I bet Regier and company agree with me.
