  1. Actually, the Canucks head coach Alain whatsisname called him out publicly during training camp a couple years back when he was going through the backproblems and basically said he was faking. So someone did in fact say he wasn't a hard worker and that he wasn't trying. The Vancouver franchise dropped the ball and called out a 19 or 20 year old publicly because their medical staff misdiagnosed his injury and they essentially thought he was faking it. Dumbkoffs!

Right??? That's the kind of crap one would only expect in Montreal!
  2. Cody needs to hang Gillis' words up on his bathroom mirror just in case he needs reminding he needs to make Gillis eat those words.

Yeah...and we have to pray that there's not even a shred of truth in what Gillis is saying now that he knows the kid, or we all know this team is going to bring that monster right out of him.
  3. Gillis is on record as having to deal with Hodgson's dad.

Here is Hodgson's dad.....a Canadian politician, who when head of the Ontario Parks dept., after a long standoff with Native protesters was quoted by a high ranking government official as telling the police to "Get those F'n Indians out of my park!" Moments later the police opened fire and killed a protestor.

Isn't it cute when someone does some real due dilligence?

Red flag came out at deadline time with articles about how Hodgson's dad was involved with micromanaging his kid and it pissed off the Canucks. Looked into his dad. I tried to point out nicely at the trade what the deal was...but nobody seems to want to follow breadcrumbs around here.

    BURNNNNNNNNNNN :w00t:
  4. No, great point about Hodgson. He'd be getting plenty more minutes with Sedin shelved and MIGHT have given them just enough offense to push the envelope. If Vancouver really did pick up Kassian simply for this playoff push and not to help him develop, then they did get shafted, but not by the trade, by Duncan Keith. I know, I'm a broken record with that ###### but it's true.

  5. IMO. Ennis does not get an offer sheet. Ennis gets somewhere under 3 million on a three or four year deal.

I'd have to look at what deals are expiring in the next 2,3,4 years that keep a center at that position.

But see, that's still quite an offer and goes back to my original point. Numbers don't lie. Ennis gets that much, and we'll have to subtract more than Brown will add. I like Tropp more and more every day :)
  6. Really?!?!?! Steven friggen Stamkos coming off back to back 90+ point and 40+ goal seasons didn't get a offer sheet. But Tyler dont call me dennis Ennis coming off a 49 point and a injury shortened season of whats looking like 35 points is gonna get a Big Offer sheet?

Stamkos didn't get an offer sheet when he became a RFA, you're saying? I mean ?!?!?!?!???!?!!*&?$#!??(*^%?)??!!!^?!:::"?$$$?

Alright, so I guess I didn't know that the Vanek offer was that much of an anomaly. I thought the AMOUNT was what everyone was mad at Lowe for. And then these other young phenoms all came to their RFA and I just assumed that the offer sheets would just flow in. Didn't know it was some unwritten rule that Lowe broke.

OK< so Ennis will get what, a million then? Still, to get a Dustin Brown, it looks like we'll have to give up a 4-mil+ guy, even after doing the chincy stuff like replacing McCormick's 1.2 with a rookie salary and that kind of stuff. I'll be interested in which of those guys Darcy moves. And I'll also be curious who he replaces them with, as Brown goes to Vanek's line.

  7. Oh GAWD no. Tropp is doing fine. Leave him be.

...although, if Brown could be an option, it'd be tough to turn down.

I just checked Capgeek, and with Ennis due to get a BIG offer sheet this coming offseason and no way in Hell Regier letting him go, to get Brown here we'd have to shed a Roy, Leino, or Stafford to make space. Not just one but actually two higher-priced guys would have to go, and that's AFTER Boyes and hecht are allowed to walk.
  8. If Sulzer holds his current level of play, then Buffalo is the clear winner of this trade.

Yes, I think this will be the deciding factor. Kassian will be fine. Look how long we had to wait for Hodgson's first points. And Vancouver doesn't juggle lines nearly as often as Lindy does, so it could take Kass a while yet to find his true linemates. But Sulzer. This is what's making me think Darcy is way smarter than I EVER gave him credit for. Dude makes us better. Has since he started.
  9. I don't understand. All people have to do when circumstances change and make what they said previously appear incorrect, is admit it, and enjoy the team showing you that you might have been unnecessarily pessimistic or judgmental. I find myself doing that lately, and frankly, the feeling of joy at the team's surprising (to me) success far overshadows any embarrassment I might feel for having thrown them under the bus previously. I certainly don't recommend this kind of humility to just anyone, of course.

  10. Throw Them All Out by Peter Schweizer. I've been of the mind that all politicians whether D or R are more the same than they are different for a long time now. This books just confirms it. It's sickening the crap they get away with, and we just keep sending them to Washington while we bicker along partisan lines and the country continues down the road to oblivion.

This one looks good to me. Thanks for the link.
  11. They are. They're recorded by the off-ice official crew, which are employed by the NHL. The NHL has a definition of what a "recordable hit" is and even distributes video and commentary during the pre-season, but hits are easily the most subjective stat (with give/takeaways probably being second.)

    Interesting.
  12. At this point I am sure the Canucks will view any points from Kassian as gravy. He's there to play the body.

Right? If it weren't for Sedin missing, the play early when kassian took Myers completely out of the play, opening up a 2-on-none for the Sedins is exactly why the Canucks got him, and I'm happy for both teams now. Because that Hodgson/Stafford/Ennis line is the best line in the last three games, just ahead of that new shut-down line (Gaustad who??)
  13. Detroit, Boston and New Jersey all are in the bottom 10 in the league in hits. How many guys can they have and how important can hits be when two of the top 4 favorites to win the Cup(Boston and Detroit) are 24th and 25th in the league in hits?

I watched a game once where I saw tons of hitting and RJ was yelling and everyone was cheering and at the end of the game the team had "officially" registered something ridiculous like four total hits. And I looked the next day to see if it was just a type-o but it was still there. It made me wonder how often that occurs and what, exectly, the people scoring the game are calling "hits".
  14. By game time tomorrow night Cody will be a basket case from all the media. They've been on the trade request question since the deadline and won't let it go. Who cares? Today they were saying that Rich Winter is his fourth player agent. This kid and his father could turn out to be a colossal headache for this organization. I wonder if Darcy did his homework on this kid. I'm hoping for the best. The kid seems o.k. but perhaps he's surrounded himself with idiots.

I think we'll be lucky, this soon after the trade and with the Canuck fans frothing over his departure, if he doesn;t lieterally get kidnapped and taken to some shack on the outskirts of Vancouver, never to be seen again.
  15. I don't buy this Kassian-Will-Kill-All-Sabres meme. Kassian is gone because he couldn't find that part of his game quick enough. He knows the Sabres don't play that way if they don't have to, and clearly he abides by that rule, too. If anything, he, like the rest of his new team, will be motivated to try and score on Miller, if Miller is the starter. Being the one to score first on a goalie who has had back-to-back shutouts is probably far and away more important to him than busting up the bodies of his former team mates (and friends).

Did you see Kassian with Lapierre last night by any chance? Watch out, little Sabres, skate fast :D
  16. I think it was a combination of a) a concerted effort to adjust the game plans to suit his strengths and b) Spiller's adjustments and maturation - he stopped trying to simply outrun everyone and actually started running the ball like a RB, following blockers, and then bouncing outside when the opportunity presented itself.

Know what? I'm excited for Bills football again, thanks! :D
  17. He was a man among boys in junior. He reached the pro level and found out that EVERYONE he plays against is big and strong. He's not up against 17 year olds anymore. If you want to make this into a football analogy it's like CJ Spiller burning linemen in College. Then he gets to the pro level and realizes his breakaway speed is useless when the D is considerably quicker than college ball. It's not necessarly coaching but the stiffer/bigger competition.

For the record I'm not trying to slight Kassian. I love the trade but it was having to give something up to get something.

I like your analogy, mostly because we saw CJ indeed struggle early on, but were you watching there at the end of this season? Dude is again a man among boys. Maybe Gailey's playbook is simpler to learn than Lindy's.....
