See y'all tonight.

Wow, I haven't been here in a while. I'm in for this season, in the Gold league. Either draft day is fine for me.
I'm moving away from my Buffalo-themed team names, had no luck whatsoever with those.. so it's 'Legwands of the Fall' this time.
-
While I'd like to see us break the norm and not play one of the cliched songs played in sports stadiums the world over, I also doubt that the Sabres would choose some of the more obscure songs suggested.
That being said.. I am partial to the lyrics of 'Guerilla Radio' by RATM..
It has to start somewhere It has to start sometime
What better place than here, what better time than now?

Just imagine the Sens wearing the BJ's thirds and deal with them like they did last night.
Another Kaleta frenzy would be welcome, especially with Neil's ugly-as-heck face on the other end of it.
Let's go Buffalo!

I don't know any players personally, so I'm curious about this.
How is a player affected knowing that the GM wants to trade him away? Does it motivate him to play better and stay, or get a better move? Or does he say ###### it, if you're moving me anyways, why should I care?
From how TC played yesterday, he looked pretty motivated. Actually that Pommer-TC-Hecht line had one of their best games of the year yest!
Puck Bunny
fixed, wise guy

And FWIW, talking with some Sabres guys last night, they said DR's trying to trade him but there are no takers with his contract. They need a sweetener and DR doesn't was to add the sugar.

The Arena still continues to sound dead to me...it is just tee-vee or what gives these days? Or is just the cavernous new buildings just don't make noise the way the old place did with those thingies hanging from the rafters?!?!
Ok, i'm going to join this bandwagon.
Was at the game as part of my annual trek back to Buffalo. The first two periods the crowd was pretty quiet between spurts in action. But they did get pretty vocal at goals, bad calls, fights, hits and the like.
Once the Sabres took the lead though, it sounded just like a regular hockey game with chants going up in all sides etc etc. The third period was nice and loud. Actually the one time a "Let's Go Buffalo" got started and picked up by the entire arena, it felt like the playoffs again, but the idiot jumbotron operator put on the big save of the game segment thingy and the chant died away.. shame. You would really have thought that with the whole place picking up volume like that they could have kept that for another break in play.
All in all, some volume is lost in production values, and the place does tend to go quiet when the Sabres are down, which we've seen more of this season than we're used to.
One more thing - the wife was with me and she absolutely detests all the 'crowd pleasing' activities that go on, kiss-cam, dancing on the cam, etc etc.. as she says.. "we're here to watch some ###### hockey, cheer the team or go home and kiss, dance and watch it on tv"

Miller - almost gives up another softy. (talking about last game)
Miller has been sharp, yet at the same time he had at least three shots that leaked by him last night, two went wide and one was cleared off the blue ice by a d-man. This seems to be on the rise since he got back from injury, right from the very first save he made after coming back.
If you watched the TB-Flyers game the other day, the cross-ice passing that TB have is mighty impressive. I'm hoping Ruff is coaching cutting those out even if it means having a forward 'spying' between the circles and sitting deeper to cut that out. Miller has not been at his best on side-to-side this season, and at least half the TB side looks prolific at one-timing those into the top corner.

from the way we've played this period, i see nothing that says we can continue our points streak.. i'm out, far better things to do on a wednesday night that watch this miserable ######

The successful teams in the salary cap era are paying a bunch of money to a few premier players on their teams and peanuts to middle tier vets and young guys.
That's really working out well for the Devils I heard
-
You should ask for your tuition money back.
:clapping:
education nowadays, sigh
-
Pommer is overpaid by 1-1.5 mil. Goose is overpaid by 1 mil. Hecht is overpaid by .5 mil. Take that 2.5-3 mil, add it to connolly's 4.5 mil and you have Patrick Marleau.
right. cos Marleau really wanted to come here but salary was a sticking point. he must have really been looking forward to Roy being his setup man, who needs that Thronton fella anyways?
-
His salary isn't in the way of anything right now so my panties aren't in a bunch (prolly cause I'm not wearing any).
sigh.. oh chz..

kudos to the defensive unit.. they have really stepped it up on the offensive front. i'm really hoping that they learn the defensive solidity bit now, that will set us up as a really good counterattacking unit.
Myers looked rough in patches, but redeemed himself in the end. Sekera looks like he is getting better at handling the puck in traffic, but is still overhandling. Montador and Morrison were both good today, they really brought the muscle in the back today. Butler is best when you don't hear about him all game long, like a good o-lineman in football. finally i thought Leopold had a good game today, doesn't seem like he has been afflicted by the unable-to-clear-zone curse yet!
did you hear that stat saying the Sabres D has 25% of the goals being scored? they are doing a really good job of covering up the offensive woes and poor PP play.. one or two impactful trades in the Top 6 and we might see some shades of that '05-'06 run-n-gun team again
good game boys, tough schedule coming up.. when they bring the energy they are showing they can keep up with the best in the league, the real challenge is maintaining that over a stretch.

No assist on the winner. Vanek did take out the last Canuck defender that had a chance at the puck.
in my book that counts as a primary assist!
-
those last three minutes were fantastic hockey! great advertisement there for the sport
-
I am going to call a Sabres win in OT tonight. I see a blue-liner scoring with Vanek getting the primary assist.
you called it DeLuca, not sure who got the assists on the winner!
-
way to redeem yourself Thing1.. wow!! fantastic composure there with so much on the line, good job kiddo!
-
Myers has started looking out of sorts again after he was getting better the last few games. that was a helluva hit there on him too.
-
silly penalty there by Myers, to the best road PP in the league. didn't learn from Hecht's equally silly one in the 2nd
-
why do we put grier and kaleta on the pp, idc how bad it is those two aren't gonna make it any better
because they are scrappy and fight for the puck. i'd rather see them on the PP than the lazy 'skill' who create more chances for the other teams when we're on the PP.
-
that was one heckuva shift!!
-
now we get to see firsthand what an effective PP unit looks like.
wow. oh Santa, can we get a PP unit like that for xmas? is it too early to ask?
-
Oh and best of wishes to Ms. Vanek on a healthy and successful delivery of her twins and please let TV come out and play tonight.
Go Bflo.
another pair of goals from Vanek if he plays would be most welcome. i'll even settle for non-highlight reel goals!
Schneider in goal, the game after we got off the schneid with the first home win
Go Sabres!
