I thought this was an allegorical reference about the Sabres' playoff chances. 🤷♂️
Actually I saw a full solar eclipse on the West Coast a few years ago and it was spiritual.
If you live along the path, you should really make an effort to see it.

Wow, missed the game and just read the full game thread:
Summary of periods 1-3: Boring, Sabres suck, fire everybody but the new guy
After the OT: Wow, that was a fun game
Sheesh.

Alright, haven't been in on a GameDay thread in weeks. Just to change the vibe, I'm in. Let's go boys!

What happened to VO? Wasn't his defensive play really good a couple years ago? I remember thinking that, combined with his sniping ability, would make him a force on our team. Instead, he's behind a one trick pony and not really a part of the future.

Yeah because He will fix it all 🤦♂️. At least he will know what its like to take 40+ shots a night.
Shots are even.

And 7 different goal scorers tonight.

I'm still in shock that GMKA told us Levi had a 40-inch waist. Is that a goalie equivalent to NFL running back Earl Campbell's 36-inch thighs?

What are you concerned about? Granato didn't just fall off the coaching turnip truck. He's won titles in lower leagues. He knows what he's doing.
Head coach of younger players in lower leagues 🚫 highly paid veterans at the NHL. My biggest reason for optimism is he's growing with this team and their faith in him and his methods will likely improve.

But you also need the team to be so bad you can take the risks of moving Tage to center, letting the team work on their skills not worrying about defense as they grow, etc.
He is the perfect coach for where this team is. I'm optimistic he himself will evolve as the players do, but there's no guarantee.

Of course I'd love to see Meier on the team, but his asking price would go a lot farther toward veteran blue-line depth and goaltending, which it seems to me are bigger issues with the Sabres right now, no?
I think the one needed element he'd provide is physicality without a loss of scoring touch. I can't remember a game where the Sabres outhit an opponent. It's the kind of grit required when the team eventually makes them playoffs.
But to your point, a 3/4 RHD is perhaps a bigger need.

No apparent updates here but AHL.com says we won 3-2.

5 of 6 points after that painful losing streak. I'll take it.

No excuse for that at the start of the period. 🤮

Yeah, I enjoy his call.
I used to listen to him back in the eighties when the Amerks were an AHL powerhouse (yah, he's been there that long!) and never thought he was much more than mediocre.
Especially after listening to RJ.

Toronto announcer said that Nylander is -16. That's crazy on a team like the Laffs.

As a color scientist by profession, I approve of the color and design of the jersey on top and while I like the understated hues on the icethetics version on the bottom, there's a serious "O Brother where art thou" prison vibe there ...

Wait, the former Secretary General of the United Nations is now playing for the Amerks?
Never mind. That was Boutros Boutros-Ghali. Honest mistake. My bad. That guy was a horrible skater anyway.

The snow and wind favors the Pats. We are a throwing team dependent upon skilled route running. They are strong in the trenches.
Other than the fact that the Bills have a better rushing offense and defense than the Pats, you might be right.
We might lose but it'll be more for to turnovers or coaching than anything else.

At least not since the classic Olof Pilar days in Buffalo or the Sidd Finch Sports Illustrated article - back when we read paper magazines.
