I don’t think it does.  He would still be an RFA, one year from UFA.  Need to have 7 accrued seasons (be on roster for 40+ games) or be 27 years old in order to become a UFA.

He burned a year with the 8 games played in 21-22, then has two more years(22-23, 23-24) on his ELC. That’s 3 years, in addition to the hypothetical 4 year extension. That seems like the 7 accrued years needed for UFA. If I’m wrong, then bring on the 4 year extension!

I just saw the needed 40+ in your post. I’ve always thought the burned year on the ELC for college players was a year toward UFA.

Now all we need is for Sabres fans to show up. Still 5K tickets left for Wednesday. Sadly, none are the $6 StubHub specials some fans rely on.

I’ve read this statement from many posters this year, here and on other boards. I’m always curious as to whether the people posting it are showing up themselves.
I’ve been to 6 games this year. It’s been equally divided between a full arena/close to full and 1,000s of empty seats.

The cost of going to games as a single man with no kids is high, let alone trying to bring a family of 4. I will say that as the season has progressed, and the Sabres are showing they care, and will put in the effort to win every night, the fans are noticing.

I have full faith that this will continue. This team is different, and the word is starting to get out. I can’t *****in wait to be in the arena for the first playoff game this year!

For all the Sobodka haters..........in the New Jersey game, on Skinner's goal, did you notice how he crossed through the middle, basically running a pick, that took 2 defenders with him leaving Skinner wide open to grab Johanson's perfect pass?   Just sayin'  ☺️

I absolutely noticed this. He is a different player this year. I still don't want him on the second line.

    Sounds like mitts was good

I have been hyper critical of him since the start of training camp this year. Last night he was winning puck battles in the corners, and in front of the net. His assist on Sheray's second goal was an outstanding play.

17 played a better game last night than he did all of last season. The said, he still doesn't belong on the second line.

It obviously gets on peoples nerves so I'm going to stop harping over and over about Sobotka. I'm ready to watch the games, and I'll have my camera the whole season. That's all I have to say about that

Please don't stop. Everything you are saying, needs to be said. This is one of the worst players in the league.

  6. He shouldn't be on the Amerks 2nd line, let alone the Sabres 2nd line. Him starting there has completely sucked any hope out of this season, this coach, and this GM that I may have had. It's infuriating, and incomprehensible that this is actually happening in practice, let alone opening night.

  7. Oh I do, sir. I had literally just checked their site out because I had read through every single post here (other than the occasional marking the forum as read whenever the only threads with unread posts are from the threads I don't read like the Game of Thrones thread or the soccer thread). This place is always first in my batting order.

This is the same thing I do. Every day

  8. For the record, they didn't trade Dumont, they walked away from his arbitration award. Most believe they chose Kotalik over Dumont. I believe this was actually the beginning of the end.

This is spot on. What a mistake that decision was. Dumont was very upset about this as well. He was part of the heart and soul of that '06 run.

  9. I'm nearly as excited about Samson as Jack. So much focus is off him now, I think he can blossom.

Completely agree with this. I think these two are going to compliment each other so well. It's going to be so much fun watching these two young men grow.

  10. I will be heading down the the Arena for today's practice. Very excited to get my first glimpse at Eichel. I was at the rookie scrimmage last year, and will be paying particular attention to Reinhart, and how much he has improved.
