  1. Problem is he has Trent Edwards syndrome: while he technically has an alright arm, he's a check down machine.

I've heard that a few times.

I'm just not convinced it's not due to a horrible O-Line. I'm interested in seeing him with some time to make plays.

Either way, I still want a QB in this year's draft, preferably EJ.

  2. Friend told me that Buffalo signed Kolb for two years. I don't know how I could have missed that news. My other friend who is an Eagles fan just laughed. Hopefully Kolb can throw a 20 yard out.

Kolb can make any throw on the field. The trick is keeping him upright.

I'm sure he'll be more successful doing so here than he was in Arizona, and Philly too, for that matter.

  3. I try to teach my 7 year old that name-calling is bad and childish.

    She seems to get it.

I may not be happy with Darcy's body of work, but I don't know him personally and therefore certainly wouldn't critique him as a man.

Also, get real. How many GM's have voluntarily stepped down because some fans feel they're not getting the job done?? He'll leave when he's fired, but not before then. For the record, I hope it's soon, but just like Lindy, I wish no ill will on him as a person.

  4. I just bought a Subaru Outback (used) for future-wifey. I may have made a mistake though, she drove my WRX for a few days while I was getting the paperwork sorted out and she liked it too much.

Let's be honest; you'd have questioned your future with her if she hadn't enjoyed it.

    amiright?!

  5. Aren't coyotes pretty much everywhere?

    Yep.

Deer, too. I was never much of a nature guy so maybe I'm nieve, but when I was in High School we had a deer run into one of the glass panes to the front door of our school (Tonawanda). Never would have pegged Tonawanda as a place for deer to hang out.

  6. Took my car in last Friday for some recall stuff to be done. The service Manager pulls my car around front and stops just short of a curb on a downslope. Goes to let off the clutch to back it up, and coasts right into the curb. I knew it was coming just by hearing my car come around the corner. He obviously isn't used to driving stick.

It's an 03 and although it's got pretty low mileage (70,xxx) it's got some definite road wear to the front fender, rock chips and the like. Guy said he'd have the whole front fender done, even though the damage was mostly done underneath.

    Turned out better than expected.

  7. Mine's an ugly ol sum b*tch. Probably give yours tetanus  I love the cafe scene. Problem is I'm just too tall and lanky to ride em. I look out of place. My old 350 was perfect for it, but my 750 fits a lot nicer. All us Sabrespace bikers aught to meet up at some point. You can all call triple A for me and have my bike towed when it won't start again.

Uh, better make sure your AAA club/membership type covers motorcycle tows...

*works for AAA, not sure if awesome*

I'm kind of with Rayzor32, I would love a bike, but the wife and 2 daughters say otherwise, and they rule my world, for now....

  8. So, I think in the end this was a good move for both teams. Letting go of Kassian isn't going to be easy. For those that are acting like he stepped in a giant piece of crap since the trade was announced I assure you, his presence will be missed. There isn't a heavyweight in the league that would take Kassian lightly; we arguably gave up 2 of our top 3 toughest players. We can easily address that concern in the offseason though. I think Van gave us something we desperately needed while they received the toughness they were in need of. I think MAG was thrown in to sweeten the deal and not much has been said about him. I think MAG has all the potential in the world. Yes I've seen the amazingly bad giveaways but that guy is going to be a great powerplay quarterback someday soon. Remember last year when our PP couldn't even gain the zone and he came in and did great scoring 7 points in 7 games (i think)? I wouldn't be surprised if he's racking up 50 to 60 points a season in a couple years....I would rather have thrown Sekera in as a sweetener.

I was with you up until the MAG loving.... Sekera is leaps and bounds ahead of MAG and inserting him instead would have changed the entire balance of this trade.

  9. My e-cig. Not the cheesy overpriced things they try and sell in the mall Kiosks either. I did my homework. Found a forum, asked some questions, did some reading. I've been analog free for 11 months after smoking for 18 years.

I know it's still Nicotine intake, but that's a hell of a lot better than the stuff I was taking in with cigs. I feel so much healthier, and I don't smell like a forest fire. best money I've ever spent.

  10. It was fun however, it is time to hit the pool, outdoors that is.

    Just having fun.

    cya

    Burn.

IMHO, I think your "fandom" for Kane in a Sabre sweater is blurring your sense of trade equality. To make things fair, you should attempt to play the GM of the team you're hoping trades with Buffalo, then ask yourself if you'd give Kane away for a guy like Pommers.

The answer is, without a boubt, NO.

  11. Why the hate for Sekera? the man gives a good effort, is willing to actually skate the puck up ice with speed (unlike MAG), and will actually throw a bit of a body check now and then (again unlike MAG). Considering that I will accept his occasional bonehead defensive coverage.

Meh, there's always a fence with guys like Sekera. You either like him or hate him.

I agree with whomever it was that said his progression is steadily on the incline, and I think he's played fairly well all season. My only wish is that he'd play more physical. We know he can, and maybe he's "coached to pick his spots", but I'd like to see more of those spots.

MAG and Stafford are dead to me, and Roy is dying a slow painful death as well. I just don't know if Darcy has enough magic to pull off a trade for any of these guys...

Got a little misty seeing BillsRCursed's pic of Barnaby, Ray and May. Man, that's when we had grit, and Ted Nolan knew how to turn them loose. Oh well, that's a long gone era, but on a related note I can't believe the way Kassian is putting on a power forward clinic. He created tons of scoring chances last night.

I know Boyes is the popular choice to supplant Stafford's hibernation school of hockey, but Kassian is the player that I feel calls Staff out with his play night after night since his call up.

    I miss those days.

  12. I will be working long hours for most of it, so yes. Would rather be in Fl with the family. Gorgeous weather there right now. It would be nice to have to work to keep the beer cold for a change.

They must not be visiting Central Florida... friggin Tornado alley the last two days.

    Oh, and also, ib4PA... :pirate:

  13. He was playing well the past few weeks, but he is the WEAKEST d-man I have seen on this team...forever. I don't know why Ruff is so in love with him considering he can be moved off the puck by a lake Erie gust. He also plays scared when the games count. Yes, he has talent and can be smooth, but I had more respect for Kalinin by far.

Ok, I was going to throw Butler in as a comparison to see if you thought Sekera was REALLY worse than him, but then I read the rest of your post and realized you were obviously just joking by the whole, "more respect for Kalinin..." ending.

    Nice touch!

  14. Holy Cow, pull your panties up. This team is bad but don't start whining about parents and limited budgets. You're not even thinking. Connolly-yes, Rivet-maybe but not Stafford (he said he was going to work harder and elevate his game this year and he has.) And certainly not Gaustad, what do you even base that on? He does what he's supposed to do, play tough and win face offs. Have you even looked at his pct? 65.9%, top in the league. I've followed this team for over 30 years and am thoroughly disappointed but criticisms have to have merit.

Hmmm... I'll buy the bolded part, but if you don't think Stafford or Goose is a big part of the problem, perhaps you'd like to share your opinion as to why we aren't playing well??

  15. Just spent 22 hours driving to Ft. Myers, I can throw a rock into the ocean from my balcony. My complaint, I have to drive the 22 again on Wednesday.

    Enjoy the stay, great place!

Regardless of what PA says about Florida, he's jealous right now... :nana:

  16. Been working overnights at Tim horton's while I try to find a better job. They've had me off since last week for 7 days and now I'm scheduled to be on for 8 in a row. Who comes up with this sh*t?

Sounds a little like a swing shift?

I briefly worked at Tonawanda Coke and they had swing shifts there as well....

    *coughs up sulfur and sift*

    Ahhh, those were the days!

  17. Is it true that you can not go tubin' in the Niagara river? I used to go swimming at Niawanda Park every day after work. If that's true, that means that on the entire 33 mile length of one of the greatest waterways on the east coast there is only 1, I repeat ONE, place to swim (Beaver Island). That is egregious.

The pussification of America is complete, God forbid anyone get hurt having fun. I hope the Erie County Sheriff is really proud of himself at how safe he has made us all. I guess he just wants to go home and watch Fox News in peace knowing that all the gas guzzling boats and jet skis are left in peace.

Um, we weren't "allowed" to when I was younger, like 1991 and on. We still did, but there were plenty of times we were told to get lost. Even with life jackets, they said it wasn't allowed.

We'd just head over to the shoots anyway, more fun... can't do that anymore either. They turned the bridge so you can't walk out to it.

  18. So the last few days I have been at TBD getting a feeling for the upcoming draft. I make a post about the Brandon Marshall trade to Miami. So how long would it take before someone replies to my post bashing me for being a fan of a woman beater, which I clearly never said. A whole 4 or 5 posts later. Unbelievable, it's like clock work over there. Can someone please tell me why it is so freaking hard to post over there without any drama. There is so much more maturity over here at SS, and when there is an issue we can usually get it straightened out like adults. WTF!!!!

Don't worry about that poster. he/she is a douche who's obviously too rapped up in other people's personal lives.

Most fans would agree with you regarding his on-field play.

The reason for more drama there is because of the volume. Many more posters there, and frankly, the NFL just draws more fans. unfortunately, there isn't a pre-screening for joining a forum, so you have to enter at your own risk... shake it off and don't let it spoil the many GOOD posters TSW has!

  19. There's truth to that. I've lived down here for ten years and outside of Atlanta, it's quite old school. I've been deer hunting with my father in law and a good segment of the guys there were so racist it was embarrassing. Comments like, "let's give the deer guts to the n-family up the street, they'll eat anything." Outside of the metropolitan areas, there's quite a bit of it. You do get it both ways. I've been called all kinds of names walking to my car after work. The South is still a very racially charged area.

I can say the same for Tonawanda, Kenmore, Amherst, should I keep going??

Just sayin, and ya, I just did this on friday, what!!!!!! And I'm a Democrat, too!!!!

ok, I'm done, delete if necessary.

  20. no it's my foot, not much swelling but it's quite painful. I'm guessing it's more from booze than food. I was on a week long bender capped off with a 9 hour marathon on sunday.

A guy I used to work with had it. He was one bad motha.... but I've seen him cry when his Gout flared up.

    Good luck with this....
