Krueger’s prep for first camp as Sabres coach includes working with Ristolainen

‘”We’ve worked hard in preparation here the last month with the coaches to be clear with our language, to get ourselves on the same page as far as how we’re going to teach the different processes and now it’s up to me to lead that. I enjoy doing that. I look forward to the responsibility and the pleasure of working together with these players.”’

Casey Fitzgerald’s flying fists give Sabres prospects a spark in loss to Penguins

‘”That was a good fight. I thought I’d get the boys going and get some energy,” said a smiling Fitzgerald. “We’ve got a big hockey family so there were many fights there back in the day.”‘

Sabres’ Ralph Krueger expects to begin training camp with Rasmus Ristolainen

‘“I have nothing but excitement for working with him,” Krueger said. “I know there’s a lot of potential there that’s still untapped. It’s up to me and the coaches to find out what that is.”’

Forward depth might keep Sabres from re-signing Jason Pominville

‘“We’re excited about where we are from a depth standpoint and the competitions we’re going to have,” Botterill said this afternoon inside HarborCenter following the end of the Prospects Challenge. “We want to make sure we give our young players enough of an opportunity.”’

The Sabres fall short to Pittsburgh at the Prospects Challenge

‘Victor Olofsson finished with two goals and three assists for five points in three games while Jokiharju had three assists in two games.’

With NHL spots available, players will look to build off prospect games

‘”I thought the leadership, players that had been here before, was strong and the new, younger, rookie players – the true rookie players – were well-guided through this process. We got to see some new players and I personally got to know them a lot better over these last few days. Overall, it was a good weekend.”‘
