Hard-driving Lehner eager for action with Sabres

‘Buffalo hasn’t had a goalie with Lehner’s temperament since Steve Shields was throwing punches at Garth Snow during the 1997 playoffs. Lehner has landed huge rights during a brawl in the minors. He dropped New York Islanders goalie Kevin Poulin with a shoulder as they were skating to the dressing rooms for intermission. He named his pet piranhas after hockey writers in Ottawa. He snapped his stick over his leg and tossed it down the hall after a loss in February.’

Eichel tours city while Bylsma ponders line combinations

‘“This young man has an exciting future ahead of him, and what a tremendous way to launch his career – by meeting some of his biggest fans and bringing cheer to our patients and families just when they most need a boost,” said Candace S. Johnson, president and CEO of Roswell Park.’

Sabres’ Matt Donovan NHL’s first Oklahoman

‘Donovan offers the Sabres, who wanted a left-handed shot, an intriguing option on the blue line. The 25-year-old has spent most of the past two seasons with the Isles, playing 64 games. He’s a top-tier point-producer in the AHL, compiling 32 goals and 119 points in 180 games.’

Sabres sign Bobby Sanguinetti to two-way deal

‘The Sabres also signed Matt Donovan on Wednesday, another high-scoring defenseman with NHL experience. Both players could start next season in Rochester.’

Sabres sign D Sanguinetti

‘A former first-round pick of the New York Rangers, Sanguinetti has appeared in 45 NHL games in parts of three seasons with the Rangers and the Carolina Hurricanes. He has six points (two goals) and eight penalty minutes.’

Sabres ink another likely for Rochester

‘The Trenton, New Jersey native led all AHL defensemen in 2014-15 with six game-winning goals and his team-high plus-24 rating tied for eighth in the league. During the Comets’ deep 2015 playoff run, Sanguinetti recorded 14 more (3+11) in 23 games, again leading all AHL defensemen. At the conclusion of the season, he was named to the AHL Second All-Star Team.’

Sabres Sign Bobby Sanguinetti

‘Sanguinetti (6’3”, 190 lbs., 2/29/1988) spent last season as an alternate captain for the Utica Comets, scoring a career-best 16 goals in 61 AHL games. His 40 points (16+24) in 2014-15 led all Comets defensemen and tied for ninth among all AHL blueliners.’
