Jeanneret slated for 57 games

‘Jeanneret will call 39 home games and 18 road games along with analysts Harry Neale and Rob Ray. Sylvester and Gare will do the Feb. 24 home game against Boston and 22 road games. The games will continue to be a simulcast on MSG and WGR Radio. No determination has been made about local broadcasts of the two season-opening games in Europe, likely to be telecast by Versus.’

Beyers scores points with Sabres brass

‘“The mindset is, you just have to relax and go out there and have fun,” Beyers said. “It is a development camp, you are an invitee, so there is not a whole lot of pressure because they are not expecting a lot. But you want to go out there for yourself. I definitely want to do that.”’

With Tim Connolly, there’s always a but…

‘In Buffalo, the last six seasons, Connolly has been both in and out, up and down, often out of favour. There are all kinds of negative numbers. He has missed 36% of all Sabres games post-lockout — and that coming after he missed the entire 2003-04 season with post concussion syndrome. His personal injury list includes concussions, bone spurs, cracked vertebrae, broken ribs: He has played 302 NHL games, missed 252 with various hurts. And as for his post-season game, he has not scored a goal in his last 29 Stanley Cups games. Despite having what Milbury describes as “ridiculous talent” he has only had two seasons with more than 50 points scored. He has never scored 20 goals in an NHL season despite having “one helluva shot.”’

Slice of home for Lepkowski

"The strength and conditioning people. I got so many tools now. I feel so much more confident stepping into Barrie next year with the progress I made this year and this week."’

Amerks President Ted Black starts his first day on the job in Rochester

‘Long run, we want to be best in class. Our goal is very about building a winning organization, and they do it according to the three very simple rules: 1) Treat people very well. Treat people the way you want to be treated. 2) Work hard. Terry will say, ‘Work your butt off.’ 3) Love what you do. Using those three Pegula principles, we want to win championships at both levels. Those two goals are comprised of a million little things, so we’re going to start by doing a million little things. No undertaking is too small to get us there.’

Wudrick looks for a second chance

‘Wudrick attended the Phoenix Coyotes’ rookie camp last summer and despite failure to sign a contract with the Kings or Coyotes, Wudrick hopes he made an impression on Sabres brass last week. “Not being able to sign a contract with L.A. and playing another year in junior, this is a good opportunity to come here,” he said. “My goal is, in this camp, to get a contract and to be part of the Sabres organization.”’

Buffalo Sabres plan to keep Jody Gage

‘"I don’t want it to be a figurehead role," Black said. "I want him to have meaningful input on strategy."’
