‘With the 26th pick in the first round the Sabres drafted another Tyler, but he’s a center and much smaller than the first round selection. Tyler Ennis is 5’9" and 146 pounds. The 18 year old is the kind of player Sabres fans love. He patterns his game after Daniel Briere and Martin St. Louis, small guys with skill, drive and passion.’
‘Thanks to his tremendous reach and poke checking ability, he is very difficult to beat on the rush. Myers also possesses great skating ability and has a C.C.S ranking of fourth among draft-eligible skaters. His offensive upside has started to show, compiling 19 points this past regular season.’
‘The Buffalo Sabres on Friday acquired the 12th overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft from the Los Angeles Kings and used it to select defenseman Tyler Myers of the Western Hockey League’s Kelowna Rockets. Buffalo sent the 13th overall selection and a third-rounder in the 2009 draft to Los Angeles for the pick.’
‘Kevin Devine, the team’s director of amateur scouting, said earlier this week he believes the draft is deep enough the Sabres could get three future NHLers with their first three picks. He thinks this year’s crop has about 10-12 top-end players.’
‘Since the departure of Jay McKee, the team has lacked a strong stay-at-home defenseman. T.J. Brennan is coming along, but is unlikely to crack Buffalo’s top six next season. Most of the prospects on defense are offensive-minded, so bringing at least one tough blueliner into the fold would bring balance.’
