Banged-up Sabres recall Kaleta from minors

'Kaleta has one goal and three assists and 100 penalty minutes in 26 games for AHL Rochester this season. Buffalo's 2004 sixth-round draft pick made his NHL debut during a seven-game stint last season.'

Sabres missing points at midpoint

‘But the most important traits — goals, assists and an aversion to losing — are noticeably absent. Only a few players are on pace to substantially increase their point totals, and they can’t make up for the teammates who have dropped off.’

Battered lineup faces tough stretch

‘Forwards Derek Roy, Maxim Afinogenov and Daniel Paille will be out. They were joined on the sidelines Monday by center Tim Connolly and Toni Lydman, who were too banged up or ill to practice. It left coach Lindy Ruff with 10 forwards and seven defensemen, including Teppo Numminen and his recovering heart.’

Life with the Sabres

'“You have to figure out what the consumer wants,” Paganello said. “After you figure out what the consumer wants, you can have a greater outreach into the community, and with Buffalo being such a big city, that’s what you really need to do, because that’s where the fan base is.”'

NHL puts on great outdoor show in Buffalo

'And the scene around Ralph Wilson Stadium, home of the NFL's Buffalo Bills, was ideal for television and for the NHL-record 71,217 fans on-site — snow, retro jerseys, players' breath visible in the cold air.'
