Regier says Sabres still have an edge

Source: NHL.com

'“We weren’t totally surprised because we knew what they were doing and that his agent was working hard to get an offer sheet,” Regier said. “But it was still a bit surprising and definitely disappointing when they actually did it. We were vulnerable and while this is definitely an option under this financial landscape, it makes it hard to operate now in the short-term. This will definitely prevent us from maybe doing some things we wanted to do right now, but we’re not going to hesitate to improve our team if need be, during the season.”'
