Sabres getting more support on late hits
‘Since Toronto fancies itself the “Center of the Hockey Universe,” anything involving a Maple Leafs player usually receives scads of attention from the hockey world and the NHL. The contentious hit New Jersey Devils tough guy Cam Janssen laid on Toronto’s Tomas Kaberle, which left the defenseman briefly unconscious, was no exception. The NHL cited the lateness of the hit in suspending Janssen three games without pay Saturday. In about three seconds, Janssen considerably raised the awareness of suspect hits to the head.’
Drury Practices
‘ He felt good and should be ready to play Wednesday night when the team faces Colorado.’
Stafford may not see Rochester anytime soon
'“I’m getting an opportunity here to play with some great players,” Stafford said. “I’m going to do my best to take advantage of it because that’s just how I am. That’s my personality. I’m a competitive guy. I’m getting this chance. This is where I want to be. This is what I want to do."'
Ruff Rally
'The event is tonight from 5pm until 8pm at Casa Di Pizza on Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo.'
Injuries? No problem.
‘The Sabres may be in the process of becoming hockey’s version of the New England Patriots, football’s model franchise, a team able to lose key parts and replace them with others without missing a beat.’
