Losing streak goes on with shootout loss in Boston

'"Thomas made some huge saves over there as did Ryan," said Buffalo Derek Roy, who had a goal and an assist. "We had some opportunities that would have been goals and they just took them right away. Good goaltending goes a long way."'

‘Derek Roy and Jochen Hecht scored for the Sabres, losers of a season-high three straight.’

Boston 3, Buffalo 2 (SO)

‘In the scoreless second and third periods, Miller and Thomas traded spectacular saves to keep the game tied. Both sides engaged in a frantic overtime session, but did not come up with any quality chances due to the fatigue of an emotionally draining contest.’

No rest for the weary: Sabres visit Boston

'The Sabres' last day off was Jan. 7. Unless coach Lindy Ruff breaks from his practice routine this week, the Sabres' next chance to spend a day off the ice won't come until Sunday. That would be 13 straight days on the ice in five different rinks in four cities.'

Injured Gaustad misses Boston trip
