'Brian Campbell is sticking with the only NHL team he has ever known.'
'Campbell, 27, enjoyed his best year last season with the Sabres. He led the teams blueline corps in goals (12), assists (32) and overall points (44) in 79 games, all career-highs.'
'Campbell is the third blueliner to sign with Buffalo since the free agency period began. Teppo Numminen returns on a one-year deal, while Jaroslav Spacek defects from Edmonton to join the club with a three-year contract.'
Last season was a breakout year for Campbell, when the 6’0”, 190 lbs. native of Strathroy, Ontario set career-highs in almost every statistical category.
'Hejda was 25 when the Sabres drafted him, and the team hoped the 6-foot-3, 209-pounder would add immediate depth, but he never came to the United States.'
‘Originally Buffalo’s fourth choice (106th overall) in the 2003 draft, Hejda never did sign with the Sabres. “He is a name that has sort of been on our radar for a while,” Howson said. “We were looking to see what Buffalo was going to do with him because they did draft him in 2003 and they couldn’t come to a deal for one reason or another.”‘
‘After the Oilers traded their 2007 seventh-round pick for the six-foot-three, 209-pound native of Prague, assistant general manager Scott Howson said the team is hopeful they can convince Hejda to give the NHL a shot.’
