Coyotes sink lower with shutout loss to Sabres

'Buffalo goalie Martin Biron made 30 saves to improve the once woeful Sabres to 6-1-1 in January. Buffalo has shut out its opponents in eight of the last nine periods.'

This time, Biron stops all shots

'This whole rotating goaltender thing seems to be working for the Buffalo Sabres.'

NHL's troubles make Sabres investment risky

'Hamister's plans essentially come down to a high-stakes wager. He's betting the NHL will reach a new contract with the players union so that teams can remain competitive without drowning in red ink.'

Hamister pushes a regional focus

'"We are a regional market that needs to pay attention to a lot of people who live in rural areas," he added. "If we want to fill between 17,000 and 18,500 seats for 41 events, I don't believe we can get there solely with six-packs, 10-packs and season tickets."'

Winless streak at 6 as Coyotes shut out again

'It was the third time in the past six games the Coyotes have been shut out. They've scored all of five goals during that stretch, and have now tied a season-high, six-game winless streak (0-4-1-1).'

Documents have May on Sabres' debt lists

'''I'm not too concerned about it, really," May said. ''Hockey players have a history of being taken care of in this league and I'm sure this won't be any different. Hopefully, everything will work itself out."'

Sabres 1, Coyotes 0

'Brown scored a short-handed goal early in the third period as the Sabres improved on their second-half surge with a 1-0 victory over the slumping Phoenix Coyotes.'

Buffalo 1, Phoenix 0

'"I don't think we have had a trip, western trip, where we had this much success," coach Lindy Ruff said.'
