'Numminen said his condition is a swollen aorta. "It grows and eventually it will grow to the point they have to replace the valve," Numminen said. "That will be a surgery hopefully 10, 20, 30 years from now. We have to monitor it every year and see how fast it grows. Doctors say I'm OK to do what I do and there's no risks involved."'

‘”It’s just the nature of our team,” said Connolly, who sealed the game on the power play with his sixth goal, scored with just over three minutes to go. “We always want to work as hard as we can out there, and when we do that, we know that good things will happen.”‘
‘Sabres coach Lindy Ruff didn’t want to speculate on exactly how long Pyatt will be out, saying that it will be a “good period of time.”‘
‘”It’s good play from everybody,” Biron said. “Everybody’s stepping up, really being able to put them away in the third period, stepping up after they scored a big goal, Timmy (Connolly) scoring a big one.”‘
‘”That’s the most consistent effort from me all year,” Biron said. “I played at the level I wanted it to be. There was no letdown. There was no part of the game I wasn’t happy with.”‘
‘The Sabres have acquired 11 points out of a possible 12 in their last six games and continue to creep back up the Eastern Confrence standings. They trail the Rangers by six points for first in the confrence and Ottawa by five for first in the Northeast division.’
‘”In a lot of ways, he stood on his head and got the two points for us”.

'Briere, the Sabres' leading scorer, has been sore since last week. He said rest has been the only thing that's soothing. "That's what I need right now. We all knew with the schedule this year there's not going to be any time to rest until the Olympic break. It's tough," he said. "I thought we'd take the day off to try to let it heal. We'll see (today) how it is. It's a day-to-day thing."'
'Of a possible 10 points in the last five games, the Sabres recorded nine.'
'With it being Thanksgiving, this seems to be a good time to take a break from ragging on the Sabres about their bad drafting, bad management, bad coaching, and mediocre playing, and think about some of the special moments that have made me thankful to be a Sabre fan for the last 35 years.'
