Florida is a beast. They are the superior team and they attacked us all game. The fact our guys answered often and kept fighting back despite being outmatched a bit physically was nice. The kids weren't intimidated, and we hung with one of the league's best right down to the end. While the result was disappointing, the effort was encouraging.

Seems like we've been in best player available territory today. I'm okay with that because these kids are so far away, there's no telling what your roster will look like when they finally arrive. No sense drafting for what you think you need now or next year and missing out on better talent.

These last few minutes are why this team now is better than the teams of the last several years. Not only did they not choke away the lead, even with subpar goaltending, they caused the other team to lose it and when they did, we didn't back down... so satisfying.

Vinny with that Jochen Hecht energy today!

I was thinking during the past half hour that if anyone can get Goalofsson going it has to be Krebs with his great vision.
-
Well, the good news is they probably would have won tonight with competent goaltending.
-
Why would Eakin even gamble like that when its 3 on 3? What a bad decision. Considering they were outshot like double and we weren't sure what Subban would give, the point is fine but to lose like that... yeesh

5 min PP - but I'd be surprised if they get 5 SOG
C'mon a 5 min PP and Carolina only has 10 forwards left. We got this!

Both goals were on Subby. That turnover was bad but he had plenty of time to see and react to that slot.
Have to agree but on the 4th goal we accomplished the rare feat of having both defensemen basically give it away in front of their own net in a matter of seconds.

Loved Joki's quick shot. That's the kind of goal we've had scored on us so many times in recent memory, giving up the late in the period goal after you've controlled the play for most of the period. Nice to be on the other side of that. Thought Subban was ok in the 1st. Had no chance on the 1st goal and barely got beat by an excellent play on the 2nd. As long as he's not giving up soft goals and plays competently, I'm satisfied with that, especially considering the defensive effort in front of him.

We are back to scoring 1 goal a game. You are not going to win like that.
Yeah they looked tired

Skinner, what the hell. Just going for a skate?
-
Wow, could this period have gone any better?
-
Oh, they're trolling us now
-
Okay, I heard one of them say Jacob. They are capable.

You know I wondered if their showing a graphic over the full screen for at least 10 seconds while play was ongoing would cause us to miss something. Stellar coverage.

Nice work by Butcher there

So the Sabres strategy is to try even less this period...

Before I could even see it was Eakin on that potential 2 on 1, the puck was gone, lol.

UPL looks good. Very composed.
The good news was UPL looked great, the bad news was that he had to be.

Why’s the colour guy sound like a cross of Thurston Howell and the guy who did colour for the Bruins in the 80s and 90s?
Yeah, there's a little too much "dinner party" in his voice

Was gonna make a comment about how the music is so much louder than the play by play guys but after kinda hearing them for the last 10 minutes, maybe the music can be a little louder still. These guys are awful.

But does Ken Holland? They've hit the reset button there and who knows what kind of deals they could make now. High profile GM changes always bring on strange unexpected events. Just look at the comparison of Edmonton Glen Sather to NYR Glen Sather.
Is Holland still a very good GM? I dunno, Detroit hasn't been good for 5 years. Also like you said, big changes can bring on unexpected events. A lot of times, these guys want to shake up things right away, especially when there's a losing culture like the Oilers have. Notice how Botts has traded almost every big Tim Murray draft pick and acquisition? And RNH for Risto isn't a fleecing by any stretch. It's a pretty fair deal.

I know we are a d-man short, but can we somehow just play Dahlin and Power the rest of the way?
