  1. Bylsma's lines are terrible and he is too loyal to the vet players. When the Sabres gave him a job Pens fans said his biggest flaws as a coach were that his lines sucked and he was too loyal to vets. So, he's consistent. On the flip side the Sabres usually give good effort and have been pretty good about going the full 60 mins most nights. They are also very disciplined far as taking bad penalties.

  2. Stafford and Myers were the reason the Jets made the playoffs last year. Vanek to the Isles was basically the start of their climb back to a respectable franchise, and Vanek was great in Montreal until their coach stopped using him on the top line. For most habs fans that was a huge signal that they had a major coaching problem. I think all of your examples are giant reaches, aside from Vanek and Poms in Minn. They also have two guys on 100mil contracts though that are bigger targets than Vanek and Poms.

  3. And the Hawks should trade Kane, the Bills McCoy, and every team everywhere should get rid of 'problem players' Dude is loved by his teammates in Buffalo and misses one practice and the Sabres, with no wing depth and no elite wingers outside of Kane, should trade a 24 year old guy with 2 very cap friendy years left and who fits perfectly here for missing to practice. Wow

If the Hawks were 28th place in the league, hadn't been to the playoffs in 5 years, and PKane was 210th in the league in scoring instead of 1st, they would have traded him. Not exactly Apples to Apples. And the Bills should absolutely trade McCoy. You don't think they should? The issue with McCoy isn't whether he should be traded or not, it's that he can't be traded. Nobody would touch the guy now. Philly saw it coming and jumped off the bus before it crashed, that's why they traded him before it got to this point. That's what the Sabres have to do with Kane. All the warning signs are there. Jump off the bus. It's only going to get worse and they'll end up getting nothing for him.

  4. I wouldn't go that far in this situation. A young guy made a bad judgement call after a long night out. Who hasn't done it before? Sure, you can make the repeat offender argument for him, but I don't view this as egregious. Just a bad call by a young guy.

He's not young. And he's already had enough adult problems that if he hasn't learned by now it points to a bigger issue with him. Sabres would be better to get rid of him now before he has a chance to rub off on any of the real youth on the team.

  5. He was traded near the deadline. That's not being thrown off a team, Mike Richards was thrown off a team. There were never any charges against him in the assault "case", so he wasn't being investigated.

But I suspect you're trolling, so I'm not sure this is going to clear things up.

Kane is not under investigation for sexual assault? That is news to me. Do you have a link about the police calling off the investigation because i missed it.

  6. Ovi knocked Ennis pretty good (without any retaliation I must add). That's a big dude steam rolling a little dude.

I don't Think we trade Ennis now simply because the return will not be prudent.

Nuts to that. Lehner returned a first while still out from a major concussion. Tim Murray just needs to find another Tim Murray to trade with.

  7.  Not that it's a real question but the answer to the hypothetical is that the Sabres could absolutely use him back. If just for drafting if nothing else. Murray's drafting looks about as impressive as Lowe / Sherro so far.

Is that really what happened? I remember it differently

Ruff should have been fired by 2003 at the latest. He was fired in 2013. Simple math, Regier carried Ruff for a minimum of 10 years past his expiration. Last thing you can question about Regier was his loyalty. Loyalty was his A#1 flaw.

  8. I agree, I don't even see him out there.

In all seriousness, Gorges has been one of the most consistent D-men in his own zone.  How people can honestly believe that he's worse than McCabe, Pysyk, Weber, and Franson is beyond me. I also think he's better than Bogosian.

Hit up NHL.com and watch some of the highlights of goals against from games from a few weeks before he was injured. He's in on all the bad ones either being in the wrong place or getting shed. I think he's been terrible since he's been here. I think playing with Risto is the only thing that has shielded his terrible play from a lot of people.
