  1. The Swedish announcers call him DahLEEN. The coaches do. He does. He is Dah-Leen.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    For real though, great video.

  2. They don't mean he's a good GM. They do mean he can directly relate to pretty much every job and every situation in the hockey department. And that he is intelligent. And that he has a track record of success.

I think they are all relevant.

Very similar to Beane with the Bills. He came up through the Panther's organization and help a role in almost every department at one time or another.

I think it's a good idea, assuming you also bring in good scouts that can evaluate talent.

  3. I'm not a fan of the loser point, but in this case I'll take it and run and hide with it.

Kind of how I feel. I thought their passing was pretty bad most of the game. The defense-men seemed to be struggling to get the puck out of their end cleanly, even when they had time.

D seemed OK, struggled to clear the zone at times.

The Flames' feed showed a replay of the goal with the inadvertent whistle. The replay was in real time from above and it didn't look/sound like the whistle blew until he shot it, but maybe before it crossed the line. It really had no impact on the play and the puck was never really under Lehner. I had zero issue with them calling it a good goal. Maybe they should have reviewed it, but it wasn't a goal because of the whistle in any way.

  4. Shots fired...

Patrick Roy calling out O'rielly for lack of leadership on Colorado radio this am. He feels trade was good for avs

    This is my favorite response.

The guy who threw the biggest "trade me right f-ing now" hissy fit in NHL history is a GREAT judge of leadership.

The 10pm start kind of sucks, but I'm going to try and stick it out depending on how the game goes. I've missed the last few games, so maybe I should not watch it since they've been winning.

BTW, these GDT's are pretty awesome, thanks WildCard.

  5. I'll be going tonight and desperately want to see a win. Their crying after Monday's game is a joke. It's not like Deslauriers hit him in the back. Williams fell in an unfortunate way and hit his head. At least Williams' isn't being a bitch about it.

The comment about the goal being karma for Deslauriers actions after the fight is also stupid IMO. Guys get pumped up after fights and try to get the crowd going.

More from Latta on Deslauriers: 'I would never do that, personally. ... I think he embarrassed himself more than anything.' #CapitalsTalk

I hope they go out and just start leveling people.

  6. Why Ryan O’Reilly solves math equations while he works out

That’s just one of the legion of training tricks Ryan O’Reilly gets thrown his way from his father, Brian, while working out during the off-season. The motivation behind them goes to the heart of Ryan’s training philosophy: combine physical and mental training to imitate game situations so you can adapt to anything thrown your way on the ice.

With such an unorthodox trainer, Ryan has one of the most unusual off-season regimens in the NHL. Every summer, he trains at the family’s home just north of London, Ont., under the watchful eye of his father, who’s constantly challenging him with mind games while he works out his body. Another trick Brian tries is shouting random math questions.

“He hates to lose,” said his older brother Cal, who’s played 113 games in the NHL. “As a kid…he was younger than me and my friends, but he’d always play with us. Whenever he lost, he’d start throwing sticks at everybody, so we knew to start running as soon as the game was over, because he’d start freaking out.”

Pretty cool article about O'Reilly's offseason workout routine with his dad. In all honesty, I'm kind of surprised athletes don't do this more often.

The second quote cracks me up. I thoroughly enjoy watching ROR on the ice and love that he's only 24 and going to be around for a while.

  7. On fleek is possibly the stupidest sounding way to say something is cool.

What are you guys doing with Bills and Sabres playing? I'll be moving the bedroom TV to the living room for some two TV action. I can't wait to pour a stiff jack and coke and watch both games.

Sabres have been playing well. They were buzzing around last game. I'm hoping to see Jack continue to get comfortable and come away with a couple of assists and/or a goal tonight. Hopefully we see a W and the momentum keep going up.

  8. lol I love our board memes.

Anyways, Jack Eichel is getting better and once his offensive vision catches up to NHL speed we will start seeing greater things. It is encouraging how poised he is in his own end.

Sam Reinhart continues to improve.  ROR as a mentor I think will do wonders for him because we need Samson to become a better ROR.

    F##k yea. We have centers.

Also the excitement when Rasmus scores... it's like the team scored... like they are a team... my point is we have a team again.

LGR4GM, where'd you find that awesome picutre of Rasmus celebrating the GW goal?

Awesome game and a great W.
