  1. minimum draft requirements:

1 player from each team (30)

    14 forwards

    9 defensemen

    3 tendys

    20 2017/18 contracts

    $43.8m min cap hit

    $73.0m max cap hit

So that leaves four other picks at any position.

If each team can only lose one player, will players exposed and not drafted be wanted back after the team has laid their cards on the table about how they are valued?  Some players will realize that it was a numbers game and not take it personally, but I can see a secondary trade market develop as everyone tries to shuffle away their potentially disgruntled players.

  2. Home/Away is a confusing differentiator as somewhere along the line, the NHL went from Home Whites to Home Darks. Anyone know when that was?

I want to pick all versions of the current/classic white jerseys before selecting any dark ones to finish my four votes.

  3. I expect TM to offer Eichel, Reinhart and our other #1 this year for McD -- and I expect Edmonton to say no.

If we can't have McD, we want him exiled out west.  Rumored offers like this one and some of the other scenarios (Risto/Eichel/Girgs) to move up one slot benefit the Sabres as they could drive the asking price beyond what most other teams are willing to deal.  Provided we don't actually consummate a ridiculous deal, of course.

Murray's playing chess while everyone reading his quotes is playing checkers.

  4. The Shart isn't following the lottery... It's just about finishing last (or first). We can get the order later.

My main point is that Arizona has a H-H vs San Jose next weekend.  I'd prefer they are playing a Sharks team that could go from a 3% to 6% chance at #1 instead of a team that's still alive for a playoff spot.  Or one that's pretty much locked into whatever slot they are in and can play to win with no implications (wouldn't it be nice to lock it up in time to actually root for wins again?).

  5. At some point, we're going to have to look at teams joining the shart at a lower level as more are eliminated from playoff contention, especially in the 8-11 range where the odds to get McDavid can double.  In particular, San Jose has two games against the 'Yotes and we need them in tank mode before they're played.

  6. You are 100% correct here. Competition in the CHL towards the end of the season is going to be downright brutal, moreso than that other league. Make no mistake, the Sabres need to be bringing their "A" game nightly, especially early on. This is why I'm hoping they make some trades sooner than later. Nolan needs to be given the tools to succeed.

Has anyone checked to see which (if any) teams/fanbases have already embraced the tank as enthusiastically as we have? With our extra picks and preseason favorite status, we might be ahead of the curve. Others will be added as teams are eliminated from playoff contention, but hopefully it will be too little too late. Or is it not little enough?
  7. While it's an interesting idea, I can't justify updating St. Louis' stats 68 more times when there is no reasonable expectation they're Carrion quality. They've had several injuries and still only have 9 points through 14 games.

Maybe we start tracking them down the stretch if there's a reasonable possibility they miss the playoffs though they might not be true Carrion material.

Fair enough. A monthly (or so) update on their status might be nice, but may be better suited in a "Who's gonna be in the lottery?" thread, since the Carrion Hockey League seems to aiming lower than that.
  8. I'll up the ante. Same blue and gold and redesigned charging buffalo logo for both teams; use the teams' current logos on third jerseys.

I'm in. Maybe incorporate red as a minor accent too to be a true combination. I'd use the same style of redesigned buffalo on the Bills helmets and Sabres jerseys. Bills jerseys could retain the current buffalo as a secondary logo on the shoulder pads or sleeves while the Sabres will add the crossed swords (and have multiple jersey options). Not sure what color to make the Bills helmets though - people would flip out over a switch to blue, but I don't think anyone else is using that shade right now.
  9. Buddy made the same observation. Daryl goes back with Chris Rock, gathers up the Grime Group, and they roll on the place while Carol and Beth mess it up from the inside. Aww yeah.

Sounds like a plan, but it has a big flaw. Getting from place to place in this world is never a sure thing. They would've been better off getting the Grimes Group on site before infiltrating. Then they could make a plan to all move first thing in the morning, or say they're coming on Carol's signal, or by a certain time if they don't see her. Now, they might not even be back when she needs them.
