  1. Being consistently good is better than being good once. IMO, the Devils and the Canucks are not cup contenders. They have a few stars and a weak team. Same problem with the Leafs. A growth mindset is key. Get a little better every season. ^ to that point, we've regressed hard compared to last year. Something needs a serious fix before we think post-season. KA needs to think like Stevie Y. That guy knows how to GM.
  2. We only got close last year when we had 5 20+ goal scorers. Our depth is awful. Our goaltending is awful. Our special teams are awful. Our defense is awful. We've got a few young stars in the making, a ton of prospects, and a ton of draft picks. A playoff appearance relies on KA making moves on every weak position between now and next season and hitting on most of them. The odds of that are very low, especially given KA's aversion to bringing in talent from external sources. We are likely to remain the youngest team next year. Not playoff material, yet. Keep rebuilding. Shed what is unnecessary. Be patient and discerning. I highly doubt KA has anything else in mind.
  3. No playoffs expected. We are still in the rebuild phase. Bring up Kulich, Novikov, Rosen, Savoie, Rousek. We need to know sooner than later who has the NHL pedigree. Bring back Krebs, Joker, and UPL. In the event of a trade, we need them to play to bump their value. We need to find a way out of Skinner. He still has scoring in him (maybe 3 years left). Find a buyer and sell. See what the market is for a 1A goalie, a bottom 4 Dman, and bottom 6 Fwds. There's a lot of restructuring going on in the league with the cap bump. Prepare to make a move, but don't sell the house for anything.
  4. I see an undervalued and underperforming 1A goalie at a bargain price. We know for sure that Levi/UPL are not ready for the NHL. Why not take a chance on a real NHL goalie at a tiny cost in the meantime?
  5. You forgot Ilya played an amazing reg season with the Leafs and carried them into the 2nd round. It happens that Woll is also a very good goalie, otherwise the Leafs never would've made it to game 5 against the Panthers.
  6. I think we should grab Samsonov. He's a good goalie at a bargain price. Leafs broke him in the playoffs because, like our Swords, they rely on their goalies to carry the burden of Team Defense. He is a playoff-borne goalie capable of stealing games at best. At his worst (now), his confidence is dismal. He was definitely injured some time during round 2 last year, which may be an issue moving forward. Let him take the 1A spot while UPL plays 1B, with Levi in Roch and occasional 1C. Letting Tokarski play would be a massive backstep and a waste of opportunity to try on a 1A which we desperately need. Sam's career stats are great. He's in a short-term post-playoffs slump. He's 26. I'm fully confident he can bounce back into the 1A spot for at least 2 years. He'd also come at a discount at re-sign because he is hugely undervalued at present. Think of him like an Ullmark, but more tenacious and younger. Conclusion: Strong Buy.
  7. We were supposed to get more goalies, not less. Who's gonna replace him? Don't say Tokarski.
  8. Prove me wrong. What did we get back for two 500 point players? A middle-6 winger and some draft picks? And where's the 1A goalie? Oh yeah, starting for the Bruins. This ownership sucks donkey balls. To deny that is to deny the truth as we have been humiliated time and time again for a dozen years. There is no hope for this franchise as long as Pegula is at the helm. Might as well cheer for the Leafs. They are one playoff series win ahead of us in 17 years. We will continue to develop young hockey talent and so generously deliver them to serious hockey teams practically free of charge.
  9. So it's settled. Neither our GM nor our Owner want to build a successful hockey franchise. Leave it to the player to void their contract if they don't want to play. We literally handed Reinhart, Ullmark, and Eichel to winning teams for nothing in return. What sane person would do that?
  10. Trading away our franchise center and a 500pt winger for pucks, AND loosing our 1A goalie (without replacing him) would make it pretty obvious that he (in fact) is not at all committed to the success of this team. Or he really has no idea how hockey works. Take your pick.
  11. Gretz got traded. Anyone can be traded. The question is: what are we giving up, and what are we getting back? Anything that adds to the net value of the team (in terms of the players and the cap) is/should always be on the table. Now we need to ask ourselves: what is KA's master plan?
  12. Our roster ranked by value. High: Dahlin, TT, Cozens. Mid: Tuch, Power, Levi, Mitts, Quinn, JJP. Low: Skinner, UPL, Girgensons. Prospects: Benson, Rosen, Kulich, RJ, Krebs, Östlund.
  13. Miller getting dunked on by Lucic was the beginning of the tank years. We proceeded to slowly sell our vets until 2015.
  14. Then the owner goes to the GM and says "get rid of that guy or I'll get rid of you".
  15. 1A Goalie FA market: - Talbot, Mrazek, Samsonov, Kahkonen, Rantaa, Brossoit. 1x $5 mil AAV/ 4 years max. Defensemen FA market: - Forsling, OEL, Gustaffson, Grzelcyk, Walker, DeMelo, Kulikov. 2x $4M AAV / 3 years max.
  16. Dahlin is our elite superstar. He gets the C. A: Tuch, Thompson, Cozens. Ditch Granato. Ditch Adams. What we need: 1) 1A goalie. 2) 2x Competent bottom 4 D-men. Ditch: Olofsson, Jost, Clifton, Skinner, EJ. Minors: Krebs, Levi. Callups: Anyone with >30 pts last year. Cycle them in and out.
  17. The players have one job: Play. The owner's job is to Win.
  18. Let's bandwagon the Panthers so we can watch them bully the Leafs and Bruins again.
  19. Are we the new Cubs? We kicked out Briere and Drury, and haven't won anything since they left.
