  1. Judging by his pose you can tell he is going to be a major pain. He totally looks like a punk holding his stick like that.  I can't believe we traded for him.

Figured I would beat someone to it.  I kinda love Kane's swagger.  This team has been vanilla boring for a decade, let's be rebels and badasses instead.

Fire GMTM. Figured I would beat someone to it when/if Kane fails. /s

On another thread someone said, "post on Sabrespace you may have a viewpoint that no one has thought of". Well I would point to your post as a reason why someone would be timid about posting their viewpoint only to have it mocked.

I'm pretty sure you could have made the same comment without the mocking. Anyways, have a great weekend.

  2. Everybody is assuming we pick up a veteran top-six forward, or we squeeze two or three of Reinhart/Eichel/Grigorenko/Larsson into the top six.

If Evan Rodrigues can go from 14 points to 61 in one season on Eichel's flank, why can't Cody Hodgson?

My problem with Hodgson is he seems to take nights, days, weeks and months off. I didn't even know he was playing if I not for the score sheet. Maybe a new coach can light a fire under him. Time will tell.

  3. After this week I'm back to forecasting a Dexter-esque decline in show quality for the last few seasons.

And why didn't Jon snow mention to anybody in the Night's Watch what happened at Hardhome, and why the Wildlings need to be here?

I thought the same thing. I kept saying to my wife, "why doesn't he even mention what happened with the white walkers at the Wildings village?" It was like it never happened. To me that would be something important to tell. UGH

  4. ESPN sucks secretly loves ESPN. His children are named ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN News and ESPN Hates Hockey. He has a Chris Berman blow up doll. The inflation nozzle is located on the end of Berman's ######. ESPN sucks blows his Chris Berman doll nightly because it take 2 years to inflate anything that large.

    Now that is funny!

  5. SS should be a safe place to post stuff but there are always these lurkers whose lives are so empty, just waiting to pounce on anything they think is out there. Some of these trolls have posted more than 10,000 times. I can't stand these people. I've blocked a couple at least. There are posters who say "that's the stupidest thing I ever heard" or "you're an idiot" or things like that on a regular basis. Their account should be reviewed for things like that and if they surpass a certain threshold insulting people, they should be kicked off. A few people make this a board a shaky experience at best.

People have to learn to disagree with respect.

I am one of those people who "lurks" here almost daily, week days, and check out what is going on. I almost never post anything even if I have something to add and I never ever do the name calling thing. I am an avid hockey fan but I do not know the ins and outs of what goes on inside an hockey organization that fact alone makes me apprehensive to post here.

  6. I'm not trying to bait you -- I'm really just looking for specific facts that support a self-before-team judgment of Kane.

FWIW, I too am concerned that he may create problems in the locker room that may materially detract from the value he adds on the ice.  This trade was not without risk.  I'm just trying to figure out what the facts are.

The potential skill is there but also the potential baggage. Probably that could be said about most players but the "bad" stuff with most players is kept from the public. From what I've read it looks like Kane didn't want to be in Winnipeg from the start so maybe if he wants to be in Buffalo, which from what I've read he does, he'll have a fresh start and help Buffalo bring home the cup! I could live with that. :worthy:

  7. Fair enough, and "confuse" was probably the wrong word -- I didn't mean to imply that you were confused.  "Combine" or "conflate" would've been better.

Having said that -- could you describe the events in Winnipeg that give you the concerns about self-before-team?

I know you are trying to bait me and that's ok. It's the whole deal with Dustin Byfuglien and a number of healthy scratches. I am not 100% given up on Kane, but like I said before I had this preconceived notion about him and the social media fed into it. Reading some of these other comments has given me hope about that guy and I'll forget all if he turns out to be the player everyone says he is. I read yesterday a story about Jack Eichel telling TM "I'm the best player in the draft". I thought that's the kind of guy I want on my team. I guess I am being a little bit of a hypocrite in my view of each player.

  8. I think there's a tendency to confuse vanity (which, again, is a fair reading of the instagram page, albeit not necessarily accurate) with self-before-team.  But the 2 are not the same, and I don't think we should assume Kane suffers from the 2nd just because he (maybe/apparently) suffers from the 1st.

I'm not confused at all, it's just an opinion just like the above quote is yours. My preconceived opinion was from his time in Winnipeg. The "Vanity" in his instagram photos only fed into that opinion. Like I said I hope that I am wrong.

That looks a lot more like the contrast between a married guy vs. a single guy more than anything.

I read a couple articles in the Vancouver Sun a while back and, from the way he describes his devotion to his parents and sisters, he seems to care very much about family.

    GO SABRES!!!

Well that could be but Zack doesn't have to describe his devotions. Big difference. I hope I am wrong

  9. I follow zach bogosian too.

I guess it's just my preconceived opinion I had of him and Cane's posts only fed to that. From what I've read about him, he seems to care more about himself then he does team or anyone else for that matter. You can see the different styles of posting from Evander and Zack and I realize they are different people but you can also take from it he is more obsessed with himself then with family or friends. To me that is a red flag but I hope I am wrong. You are right my opinion is probably baseless but it is my opinion none the less.

  10. Why would they work hard. They've been told by their GM that they are awful. In fact, they've been told by their GM that that is the organization's plan for them to be awful. They are just doing their job by not working hard.

I really find all of this unbelievable.

Darcy is Rasputin,… or maybe David Koresh. Either way, it's not going to end well.

I must have missed the GM telling them they are awful, but it didn't work for Cleveland in the movie Major League..

This team has stopped working a few years back. I thought it was Ruff but I guess I was wrong.

  11. And equal to Tyler Myer's 4 points after 16 games (who is already minus 8 for the season!)

Speaking of minuses, Stafford's is creeping up there too - minus 5 already after only 1/5th of the season. And as you say, only 3 points after 16 games played, and 16 minutes of ice time per game on average. And yet he's still on the roster. Guess they need him to train the new rookies on the apathetic, lazy Buffalo system.

I don't understand why they at least don't work hard. They have nothing to lose at this point. They can't be afraid to make a mistake can they?

  12. They are excellent, the best in WNY by a mile IMO. Big, cooked to perfection and not overly sauced unless requested. The hand carved beef on weck is great as well. If you are anywhere in WNY, it's well worth the trip out to East Aurora to give them a try sometime.

I really miss pizza and wings from back east.IMO they do not know how to make either here in Illinois.
