Holy everlovin' potatoes, that list is a thing of beauty. Maybe a dozen I'm not familiar with (although I recognize all the artists) and half that many that I might have left off, but I could happily drive from here to my mom's house in Hamburg with that playing all the way.
I can remember hearing some of the more obscure artists on WUWU/WZIR back in the day - they really shaped my musical taste at an impressionable time in my music-listening life.

"A Christmassy Ted" was included on the set the library had, as well as some interviews with the writers, some bits from when Ted and Dougal hosted Comic Relief, and other random madness. (Note: two of the blocks below have been slightly altered in case this is still meant to be a family forum.)

Thanks to Tondas' recent comment, I requested the full three-season run of Father Ted from my local library and binged them over this holiday weekend. I'd only seen bits and parts of episodes in the past, so it was quite a treat to get it all in one go! RIP Dermot Morgan, gone far too soon (one day after filming the last episode), and then Frank Kelly 18 years to the day after that.
I'd say more, but that would be an ecumenical matter...

Speaking as someone who enjoys cooking and doesn't mind the effort needed for something fancy, the juxtaposition of No Dirty Dishes Day and Cheese Soufflé Day is sort of making my head explode.

When I was maybe 12 or 13, my mom worked with a doctor who had seasons in the lower golds; he knew that her girls liked hockey, so my sister and I sometimes ended up there for a game. I also remember being with her at a playoff game against Montreal, sitting in the blues a few rows down from a group of Canadiens fans, and being scared to death that there'd be a fight (up there, not on the ice) and I'd somehow have to keep her - and myself! - safe. All that happened was some singing of "Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye," first by them when they were winning, and then by us when the boys came back and took that game.
Once I went down to the ice during the pregame skate and yelled for Mike Foligno until he came over and gave me an autograph. I still have that amongst my cherished childhood possessions...
I saw Cheap Trick there at around the same time in my life; Sammy Hagar opened, and I very clearly remember his hollering "LET'S TURN THIS F'N PLACE RED" at some point and thinking, "Mom will never take me to another concert again ever."
The last time I was there for a game was with my college roommate, probably sophomore year (mid-'80s), up in the oranges; I was intently watching the game, of course, but she had brought a pair of opera glasses and was just as enthusiastically people-watching. She got caught by surprise by one of the Sabres' goals when everyone jumped up to cheer; she'd probably been checking someone out in the next section over...

When it was announced I was pumped and screamed like a 13 year old girl, but watching this video for the first time in about a month reminded me just how incredible this is. HOLY ###### !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ye gods, I watched only the first two of those 10 times on the vid, and I'm even happier than I was to hear that we'd won! Dude looks beyond belief.

I guess hoping for a win for my birthday was a bit too much to ask. At least I had a delightful dinner, a nice cocktail and some pretty good local chocolate this evening.

Tonight's menu, put together late yesterday afternoon:
Creamy tomato bisque
White "chicken" chili
Chocolate truffle cookies topped with fleur de sel
and a French pear martini enjoyed after making the chili and while making the bisque
A very happy Thanksgiving to all! I am thankful for all those who participate in the GDTs, sparing me the horror of listening to the games directly.

I used that line when Chad Johnson got hurt in warmups - said his LBI was butt-hurt about getting traded to the worst team in the league.
Sorry, N's P - I must have missed that (I read sort of sporadically these days), but I would have laughed just as much if I saw that first.
I do tend to read along in the GDTs when I remember, but there have been many times when I wasn't sure whether the lads had won or lost. And it's worse when I end up in the CHL thread.

Weber's out tonight and for the rest of the season. "Lower body injury". I wonder if it's butt hurt.
Surely I'm not the only one who honestly laughed aloud at this? (I will admit to having a 12-year-old boy's sense of humor, but come on. That was good.)

Just got home from singing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and have sucked down a mini Haagen-Dazs salted caramel gelato. The throat, she is very, very happy right now. Freude, schöner Götterfunken!

From the random things department:
- There were 19 players born on my birthday, which is the 19th of the month in which it appears.
- Among them are 4 Sabres.
- A now-retired player from another team whom I used to follow because I thought he was handsome is exactly five years younger than I am.
- A player from Nova Scotia who played one game in 1925 (no points) has the same name as the man I worked for when I lived in Oxfordshire 25 years ago.
But I graduated in a very good year for a SC-winning goalie, so...adieu, and it's been an honor to post with you all.
