  1. For those that were worried about our performance tonight - we played a desperate, desperate team. We didn't even play our A game and still won. We dominated the first period but they pressured us big time the 2nd and 3rd period.

Be happy folks. We did this without Gaustad, Brierre, and Connally. I know we've won without Brierre but still, it's just an example of how much depth this team has. Imagine what we can do when all 3 return. Gaustad was missed tonight. I'm happy we won this game. Beating Montreal in their own building is impressive.

  2. Miller's starting tonight.

That changes my thoughts on the game. I thought this was a dangerous game for the Sabres because of that big win against the Sens on Saturday and the possibility of Biron being cold if he started. They've had enough time to forget about it, I hope and will punish the Habs tonight.

  3. Heard from a few friends that went to the game that it was absolutely crazy during the shootout. Loved the victory, even if it was a shootout. Going into it I totally thought they'd have the advantage in the shootout because of all the goal scorer's they got. Miller negated that. Great goal by Vanek!

  4. Tonight is going to be fun. We're on a hell of a roll considering we're missing some studs which makes this team even more impressive than I thought.

Philly is a team I like to see us beat up on. I hope we give the home crowd a treat and just pound them 4-1. I am cautiously optimistic though. After long road stands we always come back and play lousy. Or maybe I'm remembering that San Jose game too quickly.

  5. i don't even think goaltending was an issue tonight. miller came up big early. the canucks opportunities were just too good and they capitalized.

i hate to use this excuse but if we had 2 of our top guys in there (brierre and dumont) tonight could've been different. when we play these good teams, our top dogs being out catches up. would the canucks have as much success without naslund and bertuzzi? maybe not a fair comparison. that being said, this game was winnable early. we just got sloppy on defense in the 2nd period.

  6. Saw that one coming...Guess their PK units got greedy.

hope - that was definitely a much better powerplay. even if we hadn't scored i would've still remarked that it was a solid pp because of the opportunities we had. we set up quick, were decisive and had them defending more than chasing us.

the first 4 efforts didn't get much of that, you agree?

  7. What drives you insane about it? I mean they haven't looked great tonight, but overall I think it's tough to be anything but happy with it.

    thats whats driving me insane.

that was a pathetic shorthanded goal. pominville did nothing but sit and watch that puck go in. if you haven't noticed, last games atrocious powerplay effort has carried over. it's alarming, that's all.

  8. 0-4. ugh. i doubt we'll get over 10 chances like the last game. our powerplay drives me insane.

    kalinin's 2nd fuggin penalty.

see what i mean? they had a thousand opportunities there because they had someone shooting from the point and not wasting 20 seconds for every player to be in the exact position they'd like to be in.

the only reason they didn't score was because ryan miller is the mack and is playing very well.

  9. Speaking of Molsons....nothing better then putting the wife and dog to bed, cracking a cold one and watching some West Coast hockey!

...I really can't stand Kalinin.....I am sure I am biased by now, but he just does not seem to get it. That is a "prospect" I could part ways with for a veteran....

Damn, no cold ones left! I love tipping one back for these late games. I'll have to make up for it next game.

Kalinin pisses me off as well.
