Just because he's a top 2 winger on this team currently doesn't mean we need to pay him like one. When we finally reach where we need to be, he'll be a 3/4 line guy. Love the way he's played, but I don't think he should be on this roster after deadline.

I just don't know if Drouin would be a wise move for us.
There's still a lot of uncertainty with this team. The core of young talent seems very promising, but we need to acknowledge that nothing is certain when you're the second youngest team in the league. We used up a great deal of our assets in the ROR, Lehner and Kane trades, and I'm not sure GMTM would want to wager even more of our remaining assets (2016 picks, Fasching, whomever) on further uncertainly with Drouin.
I'd rather hold on to our remaining assets or trade for someone with maybe a lower ceiling but more consistency.

Zadorov will probably be an all star defenseman in the next three years. But ROR will be too on a line with Eichel and kane. So what's the issue here? We're deep at defenseman, why not improve the top six? Might be late to this convo since I've been celebrating the moves but c'mon, this is awesome.

I know it is NOT going to happen, but just going on HFB and seeing "proposal: buffalo-boston for 2nd OA" makes me cringe.

We're doing them a favor in two ways: taking Legwand's salray and overpaying for Lehner. Can we at last send them Hodgson so they can buy him out? Jeez, I'm sorry but we're getting fleeced here.

There's gotta be more to this...right?? Lehner is not worth a first alone, especially not in addition to us eating Legwand's salary.

No way Legwand would even play, that's just a buyout move to help out his buddies in OTT.

This is beyond speculation, simply for fun, but if the Bolts have as bad a riff between Cooper and Drouin as some are saying, how much would the Sabres have to give up to get him? Our #21, Zadarov and Compher? Throw in next year's first as well?

My only question here, and it's purely because I'm not as much an X's and O's guy than some of you, is that if Eichel can play the number one center role this coming season, how much better is he really than Reinhart? There's no doubt that he's been much more coveted but we're still talking about the past two years' second overall picks.
Again, I'm noy trying to be skeptical of Reinhart (quite the opposite) but how much can we expect from him as compared to Eichel in the next two seasons? Is this a guy who won't be making an impact until 2017, 2018?

I may sound like I'm playing NHL14 here but what I would LOVE for the Sabres to do is go up to Callahan with big money and say,
"Look Ryan, we can't promise you much success this coming season, but we're going to make a big splash next summer (Kane?) and name you captain. We're gonna be a Stanley Cup competitive team in a year and we're building it around you."
