  1. That was my issue with the scene and the reliance on this as a plot element. Martin's writing never used rape or sexual violence to move the plot along. It was used to show the terrible setting that war and conflict creates, but in an ancillary way. The show writers for HBO chose to adapt Martin's work to add these rape scenes (as listed above) to add edginess/shock value. Just like they showed all of the Theon torture scenes for no reason.

All of these choices seem to be so the show can say "look at us, we're edgy and pushing the envelope". It was and continues to be unnecessary and takes away from what is a well written original story.

While your points seem valid to people who read the books but to the average GOT watcher, HBO is creating a series BASED off the novels and they're tweeking it to appeal to the masses.

My gripe with the show is that it very rarely rewards the viewer with the innate craving of seeing good triumph over evil.

For instance, Cersai is in prison, which is gratifying to me. However, I highly doubt HBO will pull an Eddard Stark and shockingly kill off a key antagonist to gain "shock value".

  2. Don't post here much but lurk everyday.

The best wings I've ever had are without a doubt Bar Bill in East Aurora. I usually only eat my wings medium, but they have unbelievable honey BBQ wings.

I live in South Florida. Anyone who lives here and yearns for something resembling a wing from Buffalo, check out Wings and Things in Pompano Beach.
