  1. Seeing that Pat La brought in the likes of Linus Omark and one other that I've already forgotten, I have more confidence in TM at personnel decisions (a least Patty didn't sign them to multi year contracts).

My guess is Patty saw that his work was effectively done and his input was no longer needed in hockey personnel decisions. He bought in the people that can bring respect back to the franchise by themselves. His position became redundant.

  2. I may have missed it in this thread, but Nolan did a good job bringing the Islanders back to the playoffs, and had them play well against a stronger Sabre team in 2006-'07. He has the ability to make a bad team good. What remains to be seen is can he make them champions.

  3. Sabres did what they had to do to get Crosby but weren't lucky enough to win the lottery. The tank strategy fails right there.

On top of that, getting one superstar isn't enough. You have to get a supporting cast as well. Perreault needed Martin and Robert to be elite (he was already real good). Gretsky needed Messier, Crosby needed Malkin. Lafontaine and Mogilny were at there best when they came together. Jordan needed Pippin (NBA crossover). A common mistake some GM's make is they pay big for a superskater and then 10 cents for their wingers and the results are below expectations. I don't believe Darcy is capable of seeing that, and will likely fail to rebuild this team for that reason. Tank or no tank, if Darcy is GM, more failure will follow.

  4. Why is this post so tiny and hard to read? :P

Darned if I know. That's the font size that came up (something else to complain about). I still hope someone can tell me why wasn't last nights game on MSG in Albany NY? Damn frustrating when the guide say "Sabres at Ducks and what you get is Dan Patrick looking at SI swimsuit models. I can see them on computer or in print just fine without his help.

  5. He has ALOT of contract left.

Miller must wanna shoot himself. Unless he wants to shoot the under-producing forwards first. Can they bring back teh french connection? At age 60+ they can outperform these guys (for at least 2 or 3 shifts, they could be the 4th line).

  6. How is this team so bad that they don't even get lucky goals?

Most likely because they can't even create the lucky situation. Either they don't shoot, or wait to long to shoot and the shot is already defensed. A team that get get a shot on goal on a 2 on 1 break has little chance of even getting a lucky goal.

  7. Miller must know he's never winning a cup with the Sabres, not as long as Tommy Boy and Lucky Larry run the show. Pathetic display tonight.

    PTR

Absolutely. The 3 Stooges (Darcy, Larry, and Tom) think they're smarter than the rest of teh NHL and think you only need to sign an all-star goalie plus a bunch of cast-off 2nd and 3rd liners and the playoffs are a cinch. These guys basically hung Miller out to dry in hockey's Mecca (unfortunately the Habs no longer use the most sacred Forum).

  8. You forgot chemistry. ZOMG!! THE CHEMISTRY !! you can't change all those players cuz they have chemistry !

Some chemical reactions just create a weak fizz. That would be the Sabres. Their only majic is they can make the opposition goalie look great while hanging their Vezina trophy winning goalie out to dry. Miller be given a free extra night in downtown Montreal for the way he's been hung out. Rue St. Catherine can do wonders.

  9. Can anybody shoot onthis team!? That power play LOOKED great, but still comes up with a goose egg. Also, 2 on 1 breaks should at least yield a SOG.

Well, Habs show how a 2 on 1 is done. I hope the Sabres get an assist on that goal. We couldn't have set up that 2 on 1 any better.
