I came into this thread thinking that this thread was going to go a totally different direction and talk about some of the stuff that Buffalo hypes but feels silly. I came prepared to answer a question nobody asked me, so here it goes.

Tim Hortons- Their coffee stinks. I have never missed it.
Sahlens hot dogs- Don't get me wrong, I love Ted's. But when it comes to brands a lot of regions have their local purveyor and most taste pretty similar.

As not to pile on Buffalo, I live in the capital region now.

Stewarts - If K-Mart were a gas station it would be Stewarts. People who hype Stewarts have never been to a Wawa (The Wegmans of gas stations/corner stores)

    Re: Stewarts

I’m a WNY transplant also in the Capital Region of NY and I can’t make sense of the veneration for Stewart’s. It’s a gas station. Outside of their own ice cream, there’s nothing special about a Stewart’s.  You can’t even get a sandwich there that isn’t a day old and wrapped in plastic.

Question for the Buffalo Expats, how often do you come back to visit?

Two to three times a year.  But I’m only a 4 hour drive.

I’ve read your posts and must say everyone I have asked have had the opposite experience. Some of their staff had grown complacent but the new people gave been great.

If you want to pm me your info, I promise I can get someone to call you within 24 hours.

Thanks for the offer Tom, but I bought a few single game tickets through Ticketmaster instead of the weekend pack.

Sabres ticket office not answering my requests saved me a lot of money.

  3. I’ll add this to the conversation:

I filled out the interest form from the Sabres ticket office on three occasions to purchase a weekend pack before the season started and never heard back.

In addition to the product on the ice not being that hot, the sales team is too busy doing other things to call back or email customers who are trying to buy tickets.

Not going to fill a lot of seats that way.

    name the movie.

If you look further into Cowley you’ll see that he had his music in A LOT of movies.  He was a large contributor to the soundtrack for gay pornography in the early 80’s.

    Yankees.

My dad and I watched around 145 games per year together from about 1992 until I moved out in 2003. Even then, I'd still call him whenever anything cool happened in a game. It didn't even have to be a big game, could have been a cool sliding catch in June.

Paul O'Neill is my only favorite player in any sport. The distain he had for his own failure is probably my favorite quality in an athlete.

1996 World Series is my favorite sports memory. After that it's the 03 NCAA Basketball Championship.

The Baseball Hall of Fame is the greatest museum on planet Earth. I can easily spend 5 hours inside and not get sick of looking at the awesomeness in there.

Re: The Baseball Hall of Fame

I live nearby and we have a membership.  I go several times a year with my wife and kids and I see something new every time.  Seriously love that place.

My favorite time to go is on a late afternoon in winter. You can sit quietly in the plaque gallery while the sun sets.  It’s peaceful.  You usually have the whole space to yourself. I highly recommend it.

Oh,  and I’m a Detroit Tigers fan.

Like most of you guys, I’m a western New Yorker without a hometown team to root for.  Picked up the Tigers when I was about 8 years old.  Been rooting for them from a distance for about 35 years now.

So you are OK with a coach pounding a table for a player  (For a playoff push) And hes out of shape ?

Shouldn't you research that before you trade for a player like that

It was public knowledge that he started the season out of shape due to not being able to complete a full off season work out program because of injuries/surgeries.

This isn’t something that Adams/Granato learned when he got to Buffalo.

You suggest that Granato was pounding the table to get a player (for the playoff push).  There is more evidence to suggest that Greenway was brought with the long view in mind.

I’ll reserve all my judgement until he gets a full off season conditioning program with Buffalo.

That’s actually the sad thing is that he was developing into a good 2 way player.  He leads the team with 4 short handed goals.

I’ve posted about our glut of prospect forwards and that some would need to go, but I thought we’d actually get something we need in return.

Maybe Stillman will surprise us all and turn into someone like Eric Cernak.  From what I saw watching Van, he looks more like bad Lyubushkin.

I read the short handed goal stat line too, which is why I was so puzzled about him only getting special teams minutes.
