Jack Eichel's doctor: Disk replacement surgery better for him now and later in life

'Prusmack said the ACDF surgery would have a three-month checkup and likely keep Eichel out of action for six months, and perhaps longer. The disk replacement would have Eichel on the ice training in six weeks and perhaps competing in practice in as few as eight weeks. In addition, the doctor said the fusion would carry a 25% chance of the need for more surgery after 10 years … [Read more...] about Jack Eichel’s doctor: Disk replacement surgery better for him now and later in life

Mike Harrington: Jack Eichel's agents are doing him no favors

'That weird, sent-at-9:45-p.m. statement to Buffalo media outlets Friday night did your client no favors. The Sabres are dug in hard and if you and your client want a deal out of town, that's not the way to get it done.' … [Read more...] about Mike Harrington: Jack Eichel’s agents are doing him no favors

Sabres captain Jack Eichel's agents say they thought team doctors approved surgery

'"What is being left out of the discussion is that Jack would be able to play in the NHL for the start of the season pending medical clearance if he were allowed to have the surgery he desires even as of this date. Repeated requests have been made to the Sabres since early June to no avail. This process is stopping Jack from playing in the NHL and it is not working."' … [Read more...] about Sabres captain Jack Eichel’s agents say they thought team doctors approved surgery

Linus Ullmark's exit opens door for Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to be Sabres' starter

'Negotiations with Ullmark’s agent, Joakim Persson, continued through the opening of free agency Wednesday at noon and until Adams learned about the decision. Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff reported that Ullmark’s ask was a six-year, $36 million contract. Sabres are getting thrifty with their spending as GM Kevyn Adams resets his core

'The strategy is to take a measured approach now so the Sabres can make waves in future years with veteran players to augment the roster. From this UFA period, names like Blake Coleman (Calgary), Brandon Saad (St. Louis) and Ryan Suter (Dallas) would be examples of the kind of players the Sabres would like to be involved with in the future.' … [Read more...] about Sabres are getting thrifty with their spending as GM Kevyn Adams resets his core

Are Jack Eichel suitors dwindling after Day One of NHL free agency?

'The issues are simple: The Sabres want a huge haul for an elite No. 1 center who has been here since he was drafted second overall in 2015. But there's not many teams that can handle a contract with a $10 million per season salary cap hit for five more years. Especially for a player who says he needs neck surgery and doesn't have a timetable for when he might be able to play … [Read more...] about Are Jack Eichel suitors dwindling after Day One of NHL free agency?

Unrestricted free agents the Sabres could target to supplement young core

Sabres re-sign winger Drake Caggiula to 1-year, $750,000 contract

'The Sabres' priorites in free agency are to sign Ullmark, try to lure Jake McCabe back to Buffalo and add important role players who can help guide the club's young core. Sabres' plan for free agency centers around keeping Linus Ullmark, Jake McCabe

'While the Sabres can’t offer Ullmark the opportunity to compete for the Stanley Cup, at least not anytime soon, they have two advantages in negotiations: money and comfort. It’s likely that no contender in the goalie market – specifically Toronto and Pittsburgh – can’t afford to outbid the Sabres for Ullmark.' … [Read more...] about Sabres’ plan for free agency centers around keeping Linus Ullmark, Jake McCabe

Report: Jack Eichel's agents expect trade from Sabres to happen 'in the near future'

'However, a trade did not materialize during draft weekend, raising questions about how much longer Eichel will be part of the Sabres. Though Adams insisted he's not working on a deadline, some suitors may bow out of the Eichel sweepstakes if a deal isn't done by the beginning of free agency Wednesday.
